With views of Mount Agung in the neighboring Bali and the turquoise waters of the Lombok Strait, this beachfront property offers a romantic setting geared toward couples. The hotel is dominated by peaked roofs, wooden elements, and warm earth tones interspersed with colorful artwork, pond features, and stone sculptures. A winding stone path connects the three ocean-view infinity pools, other facilities, and the rooms. While the ambience is generally relaxed and tranquil, the peace can be disrupted by beach vendors trying to sell their goods and calls to prayer from a nearby mosque. Qunci Villas Hotel is located along Mangsit beach in Senggigi, a strip of tourist beaches on the west coast of Lombok. There are several restaurants and shops within walking distance of the hotel, and Senggigi center can be reached in five minutes by car. #createwithtrip #staycation

Senggigi Beach

The hotel overlooks Setangi Beach on the northwest side of Lombok island, about 15 minutes by car from downtown Senggigi, a lively district filled with restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. A walking path through manicured green lawns leads to the open-air reception pavilion, draped with flowing vines from its low-slung rooftop. Inside, cocoa-brown rattan sofas and teak furniture provide a neutral backdrop to a corner gallery that pops with colorful local artwork. In an adjacent pavilion, a casual bar with contemporary platform sofas opens to expansive views of the ocean and the long infinity pool, which is surrounded by handsome teak decking and cushioned sun beds. The same gorgeous view is shared by the open-air restaurant on the pool's other end, where guests sip morning coffee on a terrace perched on the white sand. The vast majority of guests here are international couples seeking a quiet beach vacation. #createwithtrip #staycation

Set amid an appealing tropical garden on the popular southeastern stretch of the island, the Beach House Resort offers a range of rooms to suit a variety of budgets. Lower-category rooms are ideal for budget-seekers, while two-bedroom units with private pools appeal to honeymooners. Rooms are separated by a dirt road from the restaurant and beach, and the atmosphere is relaxed and quiet on-site. Unfortunately, while the hotel's design is bright, attractive, and beachy, some spaces are showing wear. The resort is looking to spruce these spaces up during renovations that are ongoing until June 2019, but this means guests won't have access to the lovely common pool. Travelers may want to wait to visit until after refurbishments are finished, or book a room with a private plunge pool. Couples and groups of friends are the primary clientele. #createwithtrip #staycation

Set amid tropical, manicured gardens with lots of palm trees, and along a narrow stretch of beach, The Chandi Boutique Resort & Spa offers a tranquil escape from the busier parts of the island. With only 15 villas, this charming property provides plenty of secluded spots for each guest to enjoy, even at full capacity. There's not a ton in the immediate vicinity, so it's best suited to those looking for a quiet escape. Unsurprisingly, most guests are couples looking for a romantic getaway, but some groups of friends and families can also be found here. The resort’s appealing swimming pool offers a great alternative to the rocky ocean directly in front of the hotel, which is not swimmable without renting beach shoes from the resort. Also note that hawkers can be a nuisance, though this is common for the area. Adjacent to the white sand, the long infinity pool is surrounded by a wooden deck with umbrella-shaded loungers, gazebos, and palm trees. #createwithtrip #staycation

This property has more of a typical resort look and atmosphere than many alternatives in Senggigi. Three-story buildings with clay-tile roofs surround a large lawn with palm trees and small gardens of tropical plants. Guests must pass through a security check and metal scanner when entering the property, which is uncommon in Lombok. Inside, the lobby is bustling with activity and decor feels less traditionally Indonesian than non-chain properties nearby. Polished wood floors, carved stone tables, soft brown sofas, and intricate chandeliers define the vast open lobby. Tropical-themed artwork and accents are used throughout the space as well. The lagoon-style pool is a popular common area with a friendly bar and cozy nooks for lying in the sun to relax. Most guests are couples or families, but conventions and business meetings also book the property often. #createwithtrip #staycation

Opened in 1987 and one of the first hotels in downtown Senggigi 30 years ago, Kila Senggigi Beach Lombok occupies a prime beachfront location within a short walk of restaurants, bars. and shops. Guests arrive at an entrance with steps flanked by a lovely cascading water feature and lanterns, leading to an elegant open-air lobby. Decorations throughout the rest of the property are more subdued; expect a traditional design of earthy tones, natural materials such as rattan, and pale hues in artwork and linens. Due to its age, there's some evident wear and tear, and the property overall could use a refresh. All restaurants have an open-air setting and at least partial sea views. Despite its central setting, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed here. Guests are primarily couples, plus some families and groups of friends. #createwithtrip #staycation

Scallywags is set on the busy southeastern side of Gili Trawangan, the largest of the three tourist islands off of the coast of Lombok. The resort, which faces the beach, is surrounded by restaurants and bars, and it has a private boat landing. Set along the azure waters of Gili Trawangan, Scallywags has a distinct beach vibe, with a popular seaside barbecue restaurant and bar. The design is contemporary and stylish, with colorful portraits throughout, modern furniture in mostly neutral hues, and lots of lovely stone elements. A number of rooms overlook the ocean and street, and more tranquil rooms are off of a stone-lined path, though overall the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. A pretty swimming poo and spa appeal to couples, while the Scallywags diving excursions (off another island) lure lots of scuba enthusiasts. #createwithtrip #staycation

A tropical island and nature hideaway vibe permeates the various locations that make up the Scallywags Smugglers Hideaway, which is popular among divers as well as holidaying couples and groups of friends. Opening right onto the sand, the attractive, partly open-air beach club restaurant has a vaulted thatched roof, whitewashed walls, and a long, curved bar made of handsome solid wood. There's a simple reception area with locally inspired canvases and a handsome dining table that serves as a dark-wood front desk. One enclosed pool, complete with a water feature, sits under an attractive bamboo-beamed roof, and is surrounded by lush plants and a small paved deck. At Mango Retreat, partly open-air hallways with boulder-design paths and bamboo-fashioned ceilings lead to attractive bamboo and thatch cabanas and a beautiful outdoor pool in a shady walled garden. #createwithtrip #staycation

Named after a purification ritual, Sudamala Suites & Villas Senggigi is set in a charming village, outside the town center. With just 35 rooms, the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, ideal for relax-minded couples. The beachside resort has an elegant design that incorporates a host of local artisan touches such as exquisitely carved trellises, thatched roofs, rich textiles, and paintings of the area. Landscaped grounds have abundant palm trees and colorful bougainvillea, and most activity centers around the charming three-quarter-moon-shaped swimming pool and adjacent restaurant -- both of which overlook the ocean. #createwithtrip #staycation

Buildings at this resort were crafted of bamboo, straw, and stone, helping to create a casual island look that sets the right relaxed tone for a stay here. The spacious open-air lobby has several wicker seating areas where guests can hang out to use the free Wi-Fi, read books from the shelf, watch TV, or just relax in the laid-back setting. A bar is adjacent to the reception desk, and guests are welcomed on arrival with a cold drink. The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, especially attractive to couples, but it also draws families, groups, and individuals looking for an affordable and tranquil island getaway. #createwithtrip #staycation

The Oberoi, Lombok only has 50 rooms, but the sprawling property has 24 acres of beautiful, manicured lawns dotted with palm trees. It's relatively removed from other resorts, and views of the Bali Sea can be seen throughout. The tropical setting emanates from the open-air, thatched-roof pavilions that house the spacious lobby and restaurants. Staff are dressed in traditional Indonesian garb and are on-hand in the reception area, which has rattan furniture and overlooks lovely ponds and reflection pools. Free horse-drawn pedicabs are often waiting outside the entrance and can provide guests with rides to the village of Tanjung. This resort is best-suited to travelers wanting an all-inclusive and quiet vacation, as the sprawling property provides privacy for both families and couples. #createwithtrip #staycation

The Hotel Tugu Lombok provides a luxury vacation that’s meant to remind guests of the Lombok of yesteryear. While grounds are well-maintained, they’re not overly manicured, and raw building materials create an authentic experience. Anhar Setjadibrata, who founded the hotel, has amassed an enormous collection of Indonesia artwork. "Tugu" translates to “monument,” and the property is packed with antiques and artwork that pay tribute to the different cultures that were on Lombok before Dutch colonization. Views of the Mount Rinjani can be seen from the beach, where long-tail boats are anchored offshore, casting beautiful silhouettes against the skies at sunset. The large property features Dutch colonial-era buildings, including a reception area with intricate carved designs and tapestries. Staff members greet guests by name, creating an intimate environment, and there's free afternoon tea. The romantic and mystical setting means the hotel gets plenty of destination weddings, though families with children also appreciate the peaceful atmosphere. #createwithtrip #staycation
