Penafrancia Festival 2022

The two years of not having to fully celebrate the Penafrancia Festival due to the pandemic has ended. Bicolanos and tourists from other provinces and countries were able to once again honor the miraculous Our Lady of Penafrancia with the various festive and religious events all throughout the second and third weeks of September 2022. The weekday festival activities (3rd week) which I was able to witness include the scouts and marching band parade, civic parade, float parade and competition, and military parade. The performaces were really stunning - you will really feel the devotion of and how well prepared the participants are. The town plaza is filled with locals and tourists throughout the day all coming together to celebrate the festival. Various food stalls were set, and local bands performed each night as well. The translacion and fluvial procession are the main religious event highlights. These have not been commemorated in the past two years due to CoVid restrictions. Thus, this 2022 the devotees are joyous to have celebrated these. Other activities celebrated on the 2nd week of September included Miss Bicolandia, Misters of Filipinas - Bicol etc.
