Yudong, a thousand-year-old ancient town forgotten by time

Haimen has an ancient town called Yudong, originally named Yuqing, also known as "Fengcheng", which means Phoenix City. Legend has it that during the construction of the town, a phoenix-like bird descended here, hence the literati referred to it as "Fengcheng". It began in the Tang Dynasty, flourished in the Northern Song Dynasty, and prospered in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with a history of over 1300 years. The first time I went there, I felt that the place had been completely forgotten by time, with no commerce and no people... The walls were mottled, and every brick and stone seemed to be silently sighing. Occasionally, one could encounter an elderly person still holding on to the old house, appearing plain and desolate. Surprisingly, a small tavern and a cultural and creative shop have opened up by the city wall. Perhaps the government is planning to develop tourism. Sitting on the second floor of the small shop, allows one to overlook the ancient street, with the old city tower outside the window, giving a feeling of being in a trance as if in a different era. Those who want to experience the original ecology of an ancient town and the tranquility in the bustling city can go for a visit, suitable for friends who are nearby or passing by. At present, it has just started to develop, and there is no need to make a special trip for tourism check-ins.
