Mount Kilimanjaro

The Roof of Africa—Mount Kilimanjaro, located about 160 kilometers south of the Great Rift Valley in East Africa, has an average elevation of 1,200 meters. It is the only snow-capped mountain on the equator, surrounded by forests that are home to many rare animals. Mount Kilimanjaro is both a snow-capped and volcanic mountain, consisting of three dormant volcanoes: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, with the highest peak reaching 5,895 meters.
