Once you spot them, you will continue to look out for more statues because they are so comical as to tell you a story from their actions. From the website, these River Merchant statues are the work of Aw Tee Hong, a local sculptor. In summary, his sculptures are built on the stories of the Singapore River back in her trading days. How it was like back then when Singapore River was for commercial use. It also showcases different ethinic groups from their costumes. Probably, if you bring your grandparents along, they might be able to recall some stories about the Singapore River too.
