The Famous Chatuchak Weekend Market

When one come to Bangkok for a holiday, you have to head to Chatuchak Weekend Market which only opens on Saturday and Sunday from 930am onwards although all shops will be open roughly around 10ish or so. This is not only a tourists attraction but it is also a local favourite too but we prefer to head early as the heat and the crowd is a killer here! Chatukchak is popular simply because it is the largest outdoor market in all of Thailand and possibly also the largest around the world! Imagine this, there are ablut 15,000 booths selling a diverse array of merchandise and food, and it is said roughly about more than 200,000 visitors visit the market on a weekend alone! Chatukchak is divided into sections, from teen clothings, to hardware and table accessories, to food and groceries, wrapping and packaging, paintings and many more. So do check out the BIG Map located at the corners of Chatukchak. A tip is also to make sure to remember which exit you cam from as there is a possibility to get lost, simply because there more than 27 sections divided in the market alone! For prices, you are able to bargain as the prices are not fixed. But of course there are some stalls which already label the prices and generally they won't budge or possible just giving you a 10-30baht discount. So not much of a scam here in my opinion. For 1st time visitors, do make sure you bring a hat or an umbrella and also possibility a fan to cool yourself down as it can get really hot knowing how bangkok weather can be.
