Suzhou's 40th garden: Nanyuan Garden Nanyuan Garden was built by Prime Minister Wang Wensu during the Wanli period of the Ming dynasty. It covers an area of more than 30 mu and mainly includes Xiuxue Hall, Tanying Pavilion, and Xiangtao Pavilion. It was the place where Prime Minister Wang planted plum trees and chrysanthemums. In the early Qing dynasty, his grandson, the painter Wang Shimin, and the master of rockery Zhang Nanyuan cooperated to expand the garden and moved the Zanyun and Shier peaks from Yanshan Garden. It was rebuilt and renovated many times from the Jiaqing to Tongzhi periods. Nanyuan Garden is centered around a pond, with pavilions, towers, and Yudai Bridge dotted around, highlighting the balance and tranquility of the garden.
