When it comes to royal gardens, you will probably think of the Summer Palace in Beijing. In fact, the earliest existing royal gardens in China are located in Taiyuan, Shanxi, which is the Jinyi Museum located 25 kilometers southwest of Taiyuan City. As the ancestral temple of the Western Zhou Dynasty, Jinci itself is the earliest existing classical ancestral garden architecture group in China. It is not easy for the buildings of the last millennium to be preserved to this day. It is just that the popularity of Jinci is far less than that of other royal gardens. Although there is a saying that "there is no Jinci, it is too far away from Taiyuan", but I also went online before going to Taiyuan. I only know that there is Jinci in the search for information, so I went to Taiyuan early in the morning and made a special trip to Jinci. Jinyi was first established in the Western Zhou Dynasty (11th century BC) period, and was built to commemorate the founding of the Jin dynasty prince Tang Shuzhen (later chased as the king of Jin) and the mother after the ginger. In the inscriptions of the Tang Dynasty, there were more than 100 ancient buildings in different periods in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. The earliest main building was the Temple of the Virgin. It was founded in the 9th year of the Taiping Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty (984), with a height of 19 meters. It is seven wide and six deep. There is a gallery on the temple. There are eight woodcarving dragons on the front pillar. It is also the earliest in China. The whole temple is large, solemn and gorgeous, and is the representative work of the Song Dynasty architecture in China.
