The Victory Monument, or Patuxai, is a prominent landmark in Vientiane, Laos, built between 1957 and 1968 to honor those who fought for independence from France. Inspired by the Arc de Triomphe, it features Laotian designs, including intricate reliefs of mythological creatures. To me, visiting Patuxai offers a blend of history and stunning views. For 30,000 KIP foreign tourists like me, you can climb to the top for panoramic views of Vientiane and some nearby temples. The monument's location makes it easily accessible, and its surrounding gardens provide a peaceful spot to relax. But it was very hot though in the afternoon. Inside, you'll find exhibits on the monument's history and agenda timeline.
