I always thought that Jiangnan was in places like Suzhou and Yangzhou. But after I truly stepped into Southern Anhui, I deeply felt the Chinese aesthetics of Jiangnan ink paintings. This journey not only let me experience Li Bai's "Peach Blossom Pool is a thousand feet deep" but also the unique Hui-style architecture with its grey tiles and horse-head walls. "In a place of sheer madness, one dreams not of Huizhou." The idea of seclusion in life ultimately took root in Southern Anhui. I've summarized this 2-day and 1-night self-driving strategy and am sharing the ink-painting-like Southern Anhui as I see it. 🚗Route Overview Day1: Xuancheng/Jing County—Baosheng Temple—China Xuan Paper Cultural Park—Fobao Temple—Maolin Town·Maolin Xiuzhu Homestay Day2: Maolin Xiuzhu Homestay—Peach Blossom Pool—Chaji—Jing County 📷Must-visit Spots ✅Baosheng Temple Ticket: Free A very quiet temple, mainly to visit the Daguan Tower and Xiaofang Tower, both with nearly 1000 years of history, the towers are quite far apart, about a 30-minute walk ✅Xuan Paper Cultural Park Ticket: 60 RMB A particularly photogenic place. The cascading white buildings and the distant green mountains form a picturesque scene. Besides admiring the architecture, you can also experience paper-making, which really touches you with the wisdom of our ancestors ✅Peach Blossom Pool Ticket: 65 RMB This place is relatively less commercialized, and Peach Blossom Pool under the morning mist feels even more serene. The visit takes about 3-4 hours ✅Chaji Ticket: 60 RMB A lesser-known village that is not inferior to famous ancient villages like Hongcun! Nestled by mountains and water, simple and elegant. A well-preserved ancient village from the Ming and Qing dynasties, with Hui-style architecture of white walls and black tiles, it's so suitable to stroll on the village's bluestone paths. Watching the locals live their lives, watching the evening smoke rise, really makes one feel the urge to seclude oneself here! 🚗About Transportation Public transportation here is not very convenient, it is more recommended to drive yourself after arriving in Xuancheng/Jing County. If you are short on time, a 2-day and 1-night trip is enough, but if you have more time, a 3-day and 2-night trip is possible, with the option to visit nearby Huangshan and Chengkan. 🏨About Accommodation We chose to transfer in Maolin Town, which is also very quaint. The water dam at the entrance of the village is worth checking out. This time we experienced the newly opened Maolin Xiuzhu Rural Resort, and found it to be an excellent choice for seclusion! The 7 independent courtyards can meet the choices of different groups of people. We stayed in Courtyard No. 1, which can accommodate up to 8 adults and 3 children～ I super like the natural enjoyment this place brings, the homestay retains the elements of the original rural houses, blending with the mountains and nature, a great place to breathe deeply and empty out for a few days～ 📍Xikou Village, Xunkeng Group, Maolin Town, Jing County, Xuancheng City, Anhui Province After a trip to Southern Anhui, I really feel that this place is so suitable for seclusion～ I will always be moved by the Chinese aesthetics of the ink-washed Jiangnan!
