The Serene and Graceful Wujiang Village.

In March, I arrived in the southern part of China, entering through Guangzhou. On the fourth day, after waking up, I checked my phone for 'Cities around Guilin' and Ctrip recommended 'Wujiang Village' to me. Looking at the pictures that were as picturesque as poetry, as always, I set off with a mix of anticipation and skepticism after buying a high-speed train ticket and checking out of my hotel. Originally, I intended to buy a ticket from Guilin West to Zunyi South (as the reviews said Zunyi South was closer to the scenic area), but I accidentally bought a ticket for Guilin-Zunyi instead. The train from Guilin West to Zunyi departed at 11:05 and arrived at 13:57 (2 hours and 52 minutes), with a one-way ticket costing 234 yuan. Upon arriving in Zunyi, after weighing our options, my friend and I considered whether to spend 25 yuan and wait another 40 minutes plus a 15-minute high-speed train ride to Zunyi South, and then pay an additional 65-80 yuan for a taxi? Or should we just pay 100 yuan for a direct taxi from Zunyi? We chose the latter. The journey from Zunyi high-speed train station to the tourist distribution center in the mountains took over an hour, during which we followed the driver to a roadside shop and had a delicious bowl of cold noodles for 7 yuan. We also took the opportunity to look at the map and browse accommodation options, eventually settling on 'Sanlang Inn.' (On the high-speed train from Guilin to Zunyi, we were constantly going through mountains and tunnels, and mostly without internet connection) Then, at the central service counter, we presented our hotel booking and received tickets to enter the scenic area. A small hiccup: the front desk said that the Sanlang Inn I had booked was not open, and they switched me to an equivalent 'Tangbang Inn.' After that, we dragged our luggage through the gate and down a long flight of stairs. We boarded a free shuttle bus (called by the front desk) that took us directly into the scenic area. As for what the scenic area looks like, please see the photos! I was truly amazed. During the day, Wujiang Village is quiet and serene, like a girl untouched by worldly hustle and bustle, gentle and demure. Following the inn's staff with our luggage, walking on the cobblestone path, my heart gradually quieted down as well. After settling in, I spent two hours wandering around the scenic area. I discovered that more than half of the establishments were closed. The most beautiful sight was the small patch of rapeseed terraces. At night, Wujiang Village lit up with yellow lights, presenting a different scene. Starting at 8:30 p.m., there was a music fountain show in the center of the scenic area, followed by a drone show, which was quite nice! This place doesn't feel like a typical tourist spot; you only see a few tourists every so often. There were young families with cute children, groups of aunties or uncles, groups of young girls in Miao ethnic costumes taking photos, and several couples. There was no noise; everyone was walking, talking, and laughing slowly. If you, too, wish to escape the city and quietly hide away to space out for a few days, consider staying in this secluded, wuxia-novel-like community for a day and a night. Have a cup of coffee, watch the clouds drift by, and recharge. Transportation: 1) High-speed train To enter the scenic area: Take the high-speed train to Zunyi South Station, then take a taxi to the tourist distribution center. To leave the scenic area: Take the free shuttle bus for 3 minutes from the scenic area to 'Wujiang Village Tourist Distribution Center.' Then catch the free shuttle bus at 10 a.m. or 3 p.m. to Zunyi South high-speed train station. 2) Self-driving I didn't self-drive, so I can't comment on it. However, I noticed that there is a large parking lot outside the Wujiang Village Tourist Distribution Center for self-driving tourists to park for free. Scenic Area Ticket: At the central service counter, show your hotel booking to receive a free ticket to enter the scenic area (if you haven't booked accommodation, you must pay 80 yuan for a daytime entry ticket or 120 yuan for a nighttime entry ticket). **Personally, I think that Wujiang Village during the day and at night are completely different experiences, and it's worth staying for a night to fully appreciate it. Dining: There are about ten to twenty restaurants in the scenic area open for dinner. Except for the late-night canteens and small bars that stay open until 11 p.m., other eateries close around 8:30 to 9 p.m.
