What to see in Osaka: Dotonbori - This is where neon lights, flashy signs, the aroma of takoyaki and okonomiyaki, crowds of people, and the feeling that the city never sleeps come together. Of course, I saw the famous Glico Running Man above the canal. If you want to feel the pulse of Osaka, this is the place to be. Osaka Castle - Built in the late 16th century by order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, this castle marked the beginning of Japan's unification. Today, it houses a museum, and the top floor offers panoramic views of the city. What impressed me the most were the massive stone walls and the surrounding park, which truly convey the scale of history. Another recommended spot is Namba Yasaka Shrine. The enormous stage shaped like a lion's head, standing about 12 meters tall, is truly unique. It's said that the open mouth "swallows evil spirits" and brings good fortune in business. This is definitely one of the most unconventional shrines. One unexpected delight for me was Osaka's beautifully designed manhole covers. Yes, ordinary sewer covers! In Japan, this is an art form: they feature designs of Osaka Castle, cherry blossoms, and city symbols. I found myself looking down and photographing them. It's a small detail, but it adds charm to the city. Why visit Osaka? Because it's a city of contrasts: samurai history and neon lights, ancient shrines and street food, the tranquility of temples and the wild energy of night streets. And let's not forget—Osaka is considered Japan's culinary capital. People come here to eat, and that's already a great reason to visit 😉

Dotonbori in Osaka is even more charming at night ✨ With its dazzling neon signs and the iconic Glico sign, just walking around gives you the perfect feeling of being on a trip to Japan. It's also a great spot to take photos of the night view 📸 While exploring, I tried melon bread, which was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside—perfect as a snack. Choose a strategically located hotel to stay. I stayed in the Shinsaibashi area, also known as Japan's Chinatown. In the morning, I explored the area around the hotel since it was very close to the MRT, Mega Donki, Daiso, and supermarkets with very affordable prices. Take a bus to the nearest stop to Osaka Namba Yasaka Shrine, famous for its beautiful lion statue where you can also pray. Then, continue on foot to Dotonbori, which is quite nearby. You can spend the whole day enjoying culinary delights and shopping in Dotonbori while taking photos at famous spots. Don't forget to try the super delicious Japanese Unagi! After a full day of exploring, return to the hotel in the evening. In the Shinsaibashi area, you can stroll around Chinatown, where there are plenty of food stalls, beer shops, games, and unique, large shop decorations perfect for photos. Try the Gyoza and Chinese food in the area; they taste amazing!

This time, my flight arrived in Osaka quite late. By the time I cleared customs, it was already midnight, and I reached Dotonbori around 1 a.m. It was a rare opportunity to experience the quiet and empty streets of Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi. There were still quite a few drunk people on the streets (more so in Shinsaibashi), so it's safer for women to travel in groups. Most of the shops open late at night are ramen places. I tried the popular Kinryu Ramen this time (personally, I found it average). After eating, you can take some photos—it's still very photogenic, and there are hardly any people around.

You must treat yourself to some budget-friendly Kuroge Wagyu yakiniku. Having overseas beef is like celebrating the New Year. This place is super popular on Instagram, and checking Google, it actually has a high rating of 4.7. The taste is, of course, excellent. We chose the A5 grade · premium all-you-can-eat set, 120 minutes of unlimited ordering, with a reminder for the last order at 90 minutes. We picked the most expensive set in the store, so you can try almost all the dishes, it’s truly a paradise for meat lovers! Thick-cut beef tongue is my favorite, and this place’s cutting style perfectly matches my taste, one bite is so satisfying, I ordered it twice! Other parts of the Kuroge Wagyu also melt in your mouth, the marbling is so delicate, no words needed, after all, it’s A5 grade, everyone knows it~ Finally, we ordered cold noodles and dessert to finish, refreshing and cleansing the palate. Located between Shinsaibashi and Honmachi, this spot offers a sukiyaki buffet on the second floor for 7,000 yen per person. But head to the third floor! For just 10,000 yen per person, you can enjoy both king crab and sukiyaki in an all-you-can-eat feast! It’s absolutely worth it—I had two huge servings! We were the first customers of the day. One crab shell seemed to be from the previous day, so we skipped that one, but we devoured everything else and even ordered another big serving! The sukiyaki broth starts off a bit mild, but as it reduces, the flavor becomes richer. You can also ask the staff to add more broth if needed. The dango is chewy and soft, with a perfectly balanced sweet and salty sauce, served warm and very harmonious. The candy is just the right sweetness, with very juicy fruit. Delicious! 10/10🌟 Grilled meat skewers grilled on a hot teppanyaki grill next to the dango shop, sprinkled with salt and pepper before serving. The meat is tender, fragrant with a meaty aroma, very delicious. One skewer is filling. 10/10🌟 SNOOPY Chocolate is located on the street in front of Kiyomizu Temple, a shop full of Snoopy. Ordered Hot Chocolate and Iced Chocolate. Not too sweet, topped with whipped cream, just the right richness, and milky aroma. 8/10🌟 Kyoto Cutlet Warajiya ordered the Rare Beef Cutlet grilled medium rare, which made the meat a bit dry. Eaten with a nutty sauce and green salt, it pairs well. A friend ordered shrimp tonkatsu, which was delicious with very large shrimp. 9/10🌟 Shubutei Umeda branch Ordered a set with both pork and beef, including vegetables and udon. The broth felt like plain water, not very flavorful. Personally preferred the beef, dipped in ponzu or sesame sauce, which was good. P.S. There was a welcome drink choice of sake or orange juice. 9/10🌟 Baby Castella at Kutsuo-ji Temple The aroma was so strong that I had to line up to buy it. The texture is similar to an egg cake, fragrant, soft, not too sweet, no filling, and comes in a large quantity. Very enjoyable and filling. 10/10🌟 Henry's PIZZA🍕 Went following Jennie BP’s recommendation. Initially didn’t expect much, thought it was just an ordinary pizza place, but it was very delicious. The shop sells pizza by the slice. Usually, I only eat the toppings and avoid the crust, but this time I ate it all. The slices are very large, one slice is filling, and there are many topping options! 9/10🌟 Daifuku Strawberry🍓 There are many fillings to choose from, including chocolate, red bean, custard, mango, and matcha. The mochi balls are very large, with fresh, juicy, and very sweet strawberries. 10/10🌟 Yakiniku HARU Another random find. The story started from wanting to eat grilled meat but no reservations, and all other places were full. They have both buffet and a la carte options, but the a la carte meat is better. Wagyu A5 is tender and melts in your mouth. The yukhoe and ramyun are also well made. P.S. I give 100/10 for the excellent service from both the promoter outside and the staff inside the restaurant. 10/10🌟 Kizu Market Sashimi sliced fresh on the spot. The scallops are very sweet, and the uni is fresh, sweet, and not fishy at all. Plus, the prices are very good. If you come close to closing time (closes at 11 am), the shop offers big discounts. 9/10🌟 Curry House T&A Another random curry shop. Got a very large plate, almost couldn’t finish it. Tender, melts in your mouth. I ordered a marinated egg to add richness and got free rice refills. Meat lovers must not miss this! Want to go again. 10/10🌟 Nakamura Tokichi A matcha cafe with both drinks and desserts. Seems like everything is matcha with seaweed tone. The matcha ice cream is very delicious. As the boat glided along the canal, we got a front-row seat to the chaos and color of Dotonbori — but from the water. It’s a whole new perspective. The neon signs that line the riverbanks reflected perfectly in the water, doubling the glow and giving the whole ride a surreal, almost cinematic feel.
