Eerguna Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Ergun Wetlands Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
🌳Eergu’Na Wetlands in INNER MONGOLIA
While visiting Inner Mongolia, you have the chance to experience China’s biggest wetland area in Erguna. It is also, like pretty much everything else in China, the first known wetland in Asia.
This area is a National Park and has great infrastructure all the way around. At the entry and exit point, you will find yourself surrounded by little gift and snack shops, but they are a bit more pricey since it’s a tourist area.
With a large and well built boardwalk, you can go from one side to the other, and also go down the hill a bit into the wetlands. However, you cannot actually reach any parts of the river. From the top, the contrasting view between the city and vast green landscape makes for great pictures, and complement the scenery in a beautiful way.
At the end of the boardwalk, you will find a small museum which displays the multiple flora and fauna found in the wetlands. Some parts are interactive, so it’ll be a great break for the kids! There is also an exclusive gift shop inside with plush animals and other unique items from Inner Mongolia.

What kind of experience is it in the yurt weekend? Unlock the summer new experience
on the second night of the Hulun Buir grassland, my mother and I live in the yurt. This is probably the easiest house to build in the world: in the old days, it consisted of skylights, wood poles and walls, in a three-stage structure. High and small size, freely retractable, no burden to relocate.
Now, a few hundred years have passed, "When you are a room, the felt is a wall, and the meat is used as a pulp for the meat." Inner Mongolia has rarely seen the original residence. More, it is a "imitation" made of brick and tile cement.
Fortunately, where we live, there are still traces of authentic life. For example, open the skylight to see the stars, ride the gallops on the prairie, and around the campfire, come to a local dance party.
Tips: By the end of July to the beginning of September, the accommodation experience of the yurt is in short supply. If you are interested in living here, be sure to book in advance, per capita 200 ~ 350 yuan / night. After dinner, you can take part in some local experiences, such as wrestling contests, milking, night star watching, and more.
Erguna Wetland
'Travel Guide to the Erguna Wetland in Hulunbuir'
The Erguna Wetland is located in Labudalin Town, Erguna City, on the east bank of the Erguna River, with a total area of 1.5631 million hectares. Within the wetland, not only can you enjoy the ornamental forest belt dominated by birch and shrubs, but also the ancient Xianbei tombs. The 'S Bend', 'Concentric Island', and 'Horseshoe Island' are classic landscapes within the scenic area.
Wetland Tour:
1⃣【Wetland】
The Erguna Wetland is a particularly large floodplain contained at the confluence of the Erguna River and its three tributaries from the forest highland area: the Gen River, the Derbugan River, and the Haur River, forming a delta there. It also includes the Gen River, Derbugan River, Haur River, and the riverbanks' floodplains, willow thickets, saline-alkali grasslands, water bubbles, and their tributaries.
2⃣【Boardwalk】
Strolling on top of the wetland, the beautiful city scenery, the fairy-tale natural ecology, the winding rivers flowing through the middle of the wetland, the natural scenery and the cultural landscape complement each other, forming a bright and unique tourist scenic line. It is a haven for the souls of people who have lived in the city for a long time to stop and rest.
3⃣【Forest】
The Erguna River wetland is rich in species, covering almost all types of natural ecosystems in Erguna except for the primeval forest. There are 404 species of wild vascular plants belonging to 67 families and 227 genera; there are 268 species of wild terrestrial vertebrates belonging to 4 classes, 26 orders, and 56 families. In the dry season, due to the relatively stable water conditions and ample wetlands, this place becomes a very important refuge for many birds.
Erguna Birch Forest
The Erguna Wetland Park boasts boundless shrubbery and meadows, and is the largest wetland area in the country.
Winter in the wetland may not be as vibrant and colorful as summer, but it has its own unique charm.
Look at the dense withered woods and the ground covered with yellow grass, how they turn white overnight, coated with a thin layer of frost.
The Erguna Birch Forest is the closest primeval forest to the urban area.
Birch trees have always been known as the 'trees of purity', and the birch trees in Erguna have a distinct temperament compared to others.
The white trunks exude a noble quality, and upon closer inspection, the stumps are engraved with the marks of time.
By the Erguna River, there is a quaint and quiet ancient village called Linjiangtun.
The village has few households, but this is why it retains the most authentic and rich Russian ethnic style.
Living here seems to allow one to avoid all the worldly hustle and bustle.

Shi Wei village has been voted one of the top ten villages in China and you can see why. 😍 Shi Wei lies next to the Erguna river which separates China and Russia.
It is quaint and charming and the locals are extremely hospitable.
During the day you can walk through the village or rent a bike to move around faster. There is a small port at the end of the board walk where you can get a boat to go up and down the river. 🚢
You can also visit the raspberry and blueberry farm and check out the reindeers there. 🫐
Visit in the evening to find the village hopping with bbqs and tours it’s taking in the sights.

💐Hulunbuir | The mountains and rivers sing, and the grass and trees paint a picture🌈
Here, the daily life of 48 ethnic groups that reside here unfolds through all four seasons, with thousands of homes lit up at night.
This place is also considered by many travelers as the embodiment of poetry and distance🛫
🫵Come to Hulunbuir | How to choose your mode of travel⁉️
D1: Hailar - Pick up from airport to hotel
D2: Hailar - Morin Dawa Daur Autonomous Banner - Leba - Ergun
D3: Ergun - Wetland Scenic Area - Birch Forest - Enhe - Shiwei
D4: Shiwei - Aoluguya Totem - Kaxian Highway - Ulan Mountain - Heishantou
D5: Heishantou - Horse Riding - Archery - 186 Color Ribbon Grass Skiing - Manzhouli
D6: Manzhouli - Matryoshka Square - National Gate - Hulun Lake - Hailar
·
❌Group tour: (Bus) Early departure, bad group meals, easily taken to shopping spots, unexpected forced consumption, terrible experience
✅Chartered car travel: High freedom, start after waking up🚘 Stop anytime you see beautiful scenery, the driver is also a photographer📸, luggage handler🎒, and a local live map🗺, allowing adults to relax
✅Self-driving: Plan your route in advance, download offline navigation🧭, stick to asphalt roads❌ Do not cross herders' pastures at will‼️ Pay attention to speed limits on border highway 331⛔️, and watch out for cattle, horses, and sheep that may appear at night🐑
== === === Bring a small stool === === ==
⁉️What to avoid on a Hulunbuir trip⁉️
✅🌟About chartered cars: 👉If the driver asks you for a crossing fee or car wash fee, refuse and contact the business🙆♂️, because if your itinerary includes crossing, the travel agency has definitely paid the driver enough‼️ There's no such thing as asking for a car wash fee from the customer after crossing, just refuse❌
✅🌟About drivers: 👉Between a good driver and a good car, a good driver is more important🙋♂️ Most SUVs can handle the Hulunbuir circuit, but a considerate driver is the soul of the entire trip
✅🌟About prices: 👉Price determines quality👍 Some quotes are expensive because they include more items, better hotels, and different accommodations; cheap quotes usually only include one entrance ticket, and you have to pay extra for activities inside💰. In fact, many entertainment activities are free of admission‼️ Or they don't include some core items, such as expensive tickets for Matryoshka Square and Horse Dance‼️
✅🌟About routes: 👉If you are traveling with children and the elderly, the popular classic routes can fully satisfy your imagination of the grasslands without being bumpy or too long, and a daily distance of 100+ kilometers can be easily managed; niche crossing routes are comparatively bumpy, and children and the elderly are more likely to get carsick, and there are also higher requirements for the type of vehicle.
✅🌟About prices: 👉What suits you is the best~ Off-season 3K+, peak season 4K+ is a moderate price for a 6-day Hulunbuir circuit, any lower and the hotel quality may be worrying, more expensive ones include high-end hotels~ Choose based on your accommodation requirements
✅🌟About timing: 👉In early May, Hulunbuir is still in a state of strong winds, while in late May, the grass starts to sprout shallowly; 👍June offers the best value for money💐 with wildflowers everywhere, low prices, and fewer people; July-August is the peak season for grassland tourism, with more people and higher prices, but it's the most beautiful time on the Hulunbuir grasslands~ Worth having✨
The Enchanting Frontier Secret | Exploring Shiwei Ancient Town: The Cultural Pearl at the China-Russia Border
Exploring Shiwei Ancient Town: The Cultural Pearl at the China-Russia Border.
What magical powers does Shiwei, known as one of China's top ten charming ancient towns, possess? Unveil its Mongolian-Russian dual cultural mystery, trace the footsteps of Genghis Khan, stroll along the Erguna River, and experience the unique charm of being just a river away from Russia!
📍【Spotlight on Scenic Area: Erguna City - Shiwei Russian Ethnic Township】
🚘💨【Convenient Transportation】
Wind through the birch forest paths and embark on a self-driving journey through forests and history. Shiwei Ancient Town is about 200 kilometers from Hailar, and it is recommended to drive or charter a car to get there. Along the way, not only can you admire the picturesque birch forests and graceful reindeer, but you can also experience the profound implications of Chi Zijian's writing as you drive past the scenery depicted in 'The Right Bank of the Erguna River'.
🏡🍲【Accommodation and Dining Guide】
Choose from a dazzling array of wooden log cabin homestays in the town, such as the characteristic An Xiaohui Wooden Log Cabin Hotel. Although the soundproofing is slightly inferior, it offers a full pastoral style and convenient parking. For food, from barbecue stalls, food stands to authentic Russian cuisine and Mongolian traditional delicacies, satisfy your taste bud exploration.
🗺️👣【Travel Route Planning and Highlights】
1️⃣ **View Russia from the River Border**: Stand on the border of Shiwei, and right before your eyes is the pastoral scenery of Russia's Olochi, with cattle and sheep leisurely grazing and the vast grasslands stretching out, while the Erguna River flows quietly. Bring your magnifying glass and discover the beauty in every detail.
2️️ **Erguna River Cruise Trip**: Take a cruise along the Erguna River on the China-Russia border. As the boat moves slowly, the exotic scenery on both banks unfolds gradually. However, this activity requires at least 15 people to set sail, so remember to plan ahead!
3️⃣ **Sunrise Watching at Linjiang Village**: Get up early and drive to Linjiang Village to welcome the magnificent sunrise. Despite the changeable weather and the possibility of encountering rain, don't miss the tranquil morning time; you might discover another poetic scene.
💡📝【Travel Tips】
- **Important Matters**: As a border area, drone flying is strictly prohibited in Shiwei. Please comply with the relevant regulations.
- **Climate Adaptation**: Shiwei has a large temperature difference between day and night, so be sure to bring a coat and down jacket to stay warm at all times.
🌈🌈Shiwei Ancient Town, this charming frontier town that stands alone in the world, is not only the cradle of the Mongolian ethnicity but also the shining jewel of China's only Russian ethnic township. Stepping onto this land is like entering a living history textbook, where every stop and every scene tells the story of East-West integration. Coming to Shiwei is not just about enjoying the natural scenery but also about seeking the profound cultural heritage that transcends national boundaries, leaving behind a piece of frontier memory that belongs to you! ✨✨✨

Argun River Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Autumn in Erguna beckons, why not hurry over?
In the early morning, driving from the Morghol River, which still retains the last hint of summer's green grasslands, to Erguna, the green fades to yellow, and you slowly step into the territory of autumn. Compared to the Erguna Wetland Park near the city area, it is more worthwhile to visit the Erguna National Wetland Park. The national park.
It takes quite a while to walk through the park, and it's more cost-effective to take a small tour car for the first half of the journey, which can take everyone through the highly similar forests.
After getting off the car, the golden tree clusters wrapping the meandering river are very beautiful. After crossing the bridge, you need to continue through a small section of forest, where the little squirrels and protected birds are quite active, occasionally brushing by your feet, and the shadows of the falling leaves are all uniquely charming. After walking out of the forest boardwalk, you reach the mountaintop waterfall overlooking the wetland landscape. Although it's an artificial waterfall, the drone check-in effect is still pretty good, haha. After crossing the bridge, you start to climb the 381 steps of the boardwalk to the mountaintop. The first half of the steps are somewhat steep, and most people are panting with hands on hips, but the birch forest is beautiful, glowing brilliantly yellow in September, and you won't feel it's too far with occasional stops.
The view from the top is also rich, and as the sun appears or hides behind clouds, the colors change unpredictably, becoming even more layered with the interplay of light and shadow near sunset.
Unfortunately, it seems that the park's tour car is too late to pick up people, and we didn't know that, only to find out that the artificial waterfall had closed for the day.
However! On the drive to and from the park, there are also several spots where you can temporarily park and overlook the wild wetland landscape, which is just as good as inside the park, and some even allow you to walk close to the water's edge. After visiting the national wetland park, we watched the shepherds herd sheep home by the roadside, waited for a sunset and moonrise, and returned home satisfied~

Manzhouli and Hailar both have airports, with options for direct flights or flying to Harbin and then transferring to Hailar. If there are fewer than four people, carpooling is also an option, allowing you to meet new friends.
🎈**For entertainment,**
It is recommended to go horse riding at the Heishantou professional horse farm, especially beautiful at sunset. Most charter companies arrange stays in Mongolian yurts. The longest zip line in Hulunbuir is the Grass Slide 186, costing between 100 to 300 yuan each time.
**Delicacies‼️‼️**
When in Hulunbuir, you must try authentic Mongolian cuisine! My list before going included: yogurt, date cake, pot milk tea, beef bone, yogurt bun, lamb offal soup, beef hot pot. Mongolian food in many places can be too gamey! I recommend a Han-ified Mongolian restaurant that is delicious and authentic. You must go and try it.
👗**For attire,**
I personally prefer the blue and yellow color scheme, with ginger yellow and blue and white also being good choices.
Shiwei—a small frontier town in Inner Mongolia by the Erguna River
Surrounded by the enchanting colors of autumn, we reached the small frontier town of Shiwei in Inner Mongolia by driving along G331.
What to see in Shiwei
Shiwei Town is a larger Russian ethnic village with the Shiwei Port. The main street in the town features some Russian-style architecture. Accommodations are primarily characterized by wooden log cabin style homestays.
The main attractions are in the village to the north, Linjiang Village
Linjiang Village is a small village 20 minutes' drive from Shiwei, right next to the Erguna River, with beautiful scenery. At the entrance to the village, there are high grounds where you can climb a small slope to view the river scenery; the big bend is very beautiful and is a great place to take sunset photos, highly recommended!
Driving along the river through Linjiang Village, just a short drive to the end, there's a place called Eagle's Mouth, with road signs pointing the way, as shown in the last picture. You can see a mountain full of birch trees, offering a very nice view, recommended.
The drive past Linjiang Village is very picturesque, and we stopped to take photos whenever we saw something beautiful.
Accommodation
We stayed in Shiwei Town because we wanted to relax a bit, so we stayed for three days. I see that most people only stay for one night. The key point is that the accommodation is cheap, a little over a hundred per night, with air conditioning and electric blankets, and it's quite clean, so it's very cost-effective. Every day we went to the Erguna border for a walk, under the blue sky and white clouds, which was especially comfortable. Just across the river is Russia.
Cuisine
In the north, people eat a lot of hot pot. We tried three restaurants, and after comparison, the Modala Restaurant on the main street is very good. The tendon hot pot is super tender, the best we had on the trip. Other hot pots and stir-fries are also delicious, with no disappointments. We went there for four meals.
About Lieba Fang (Don't miss the Kvass)
There are many Lieba Fangs in Shiwei Town, with various kinds of lieba, cheese, yogurt, and kvass. We tried kvass from three stores and liked the kvass from Lida Lieba Fang the most! We bought two bottles every day, and when we left, we took five bottles with us. Their kvass has a rich wheat aroma and a woody scent, better than any I've had before. The other two stores had kvass that was either too sweet or too sour, but Lida's had the strongest wheat flavor, which I really liked.

Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Shiwei—a small frontier town in Inner Mongolia by the Erguna River

I wake up naturally at five o'clock in the morning. I wanted to go to the hillside of Manor Houshan (Beishantou) to see the sunrise, but. . . This fog, suddenly depressed! !
Linjiang is a small raft near the Ergun River. Because the locals like to call the river a river, it is named Linjiang Village, also known as Linjiang Village! ! Similarly, most of them are Russian Chinese descendants. The village is small, quiet and simple. Because there are more and more tourists, every household has now started the B&B estate. Russian-style woodcut mortuaries are mostly, which not only improves the living environment, but also Increase the income from tourism during the peak season of a few months! Both the nature of the Chinese countryside and the Russian style! The customs of the two countries separated by this river have an intersection here. Nourish the people who love life in both countries!
Going up the hill along the cement road, there is also a fire watchtower, but only in the fog can you see it! When I came, there were a few who looked forward to watching the sunrise as I did, but when I looked at the weather, I was disappointed to leave! ! Can't miss it, turn around, wait a minute, and you can take a panoramic view of the village. Do not know if it is a lawn mower at the door of these villagers living in the mountain? !
There is thick fog in the morning, but the air is very fresh, the horse is grazing, the sun is rising, it has climbed to the top of the tower, and the horse grazes, this picture is simply beautiful. , picturesque scenery! In the dense fog, the village is gradually showing smoke, the dog is screaming, and the chicken is also crowing! Although the village's quiet was broken, but the morning mist shrouded the village, like a fairyland! Simple and charming! Then there is a feeling:
I want to take a sunrise, but there is no fog!
I want to wait for the fog, but I see the village!
hahaha, ugly! ! Going down the hillside and returning to the village's road, although it is close to 7:30, it still has the rich flavor of the country! There is also a fairy tale fairyland style! If it is not the route plan, I really want to stay here for another night! !
It is said that in the summer, you can see the Russian girl and the young man in the river washing and bathing in the river! I don't know if it is true or not! ! The mood of all this seems to have been read in the textbook! Just on the morning of Linjiang was September 2nd, the new semester began, I sent a basin circle:
The new semester began!
We all sat in the classroom!
We know the distance in the book!
The scenery on the road brought us back to the class!
Why do you want to study more?
Because one day, what you are on the road is the place you want in your student time textbook!
Hulunbeier|The most beautiful small village on the riverside between China and Russia
is a small village on the Sino-Russian border. There is a blue Ergun River next to it, and a small Russian village opposite the river.
is like an isolated outdoor Taoyuan, a very quiet small village, which is especially comfortable for a night.
Come to the Ergun River, there is a grazing horse by the river under the sunset, very artistic.
Malaysia and the pony are eating quietly in the grass. I can't disturb them at the side. The proud face ignores me, but it is also a very beautiful picture of gentle sunshine. .
The Ergun River is as calm as a mirror, and you can take a calm river to take a reflection, and the reflection is clearly visible.
There are sometimes Russians who can see the river across the river and can say hello to each other.
Hulunbeier has the most beautiful sunset on the Sino-Russian border
Come to Linjiang, you must watch a sunset, you can see the most beautiful sunset on the Sino-Russian border. The hillside of the village
is the best place to watch the sunset, and you can find it in the evening with other cars.
It is recommended to drive up the mountain, but the road conditions are not very good, novices need to be cautious, or go hiking and riding up the mountain.
When the sunset is approaching, many people come to the hills early to wait for the sunset. This is a beautiful view overlooking the Ergun River. As a boundary river between China and Russia, it is quiet and flowing. It seems to be talking about the friendship between China and Russia.
Waiting for the sunset to slowly descend, from the top of the mountain in Russia, the afterglow of the sunset is filled with the Ergun River, and after a while, there will be a pink sunset on the horizon.
The evening glow reflected in the Ergun River, the water surface also turned pink, people watching the sunset have left, the whole hill has become very quiet, such as the beauty of isolation.
After the sun sets, it still starts to cool down. If you want to see the sunset, remember to bring your jacket.
