Punch a super dream hot spring, you can take a hot spring with the swan! The eastern traffic of Hokkaido is extremely inconvenient, but for this super beautiful hot spring that can be soaked with swan, we first take JR and then transfer to the bus, then chartered to go, but it is not a trip, Akan Lake is really beautiful!
This hot spring is called Gudan Hot Spring. It is located on the shore of Qushui Road in Hokkaido and can only be driven by car or chartered.
The spa is not big, it is open-air, and it is free of charge! This hot spring is forbidden to bare bubbles, so be sure to bring a swimsuit. There are two small houses next to the hot springs that can change clothes, divided into men and women, and there are public toilets in the parking lot not far away.
We arrived at around 9 in the morning, and there was no one at all. There will be a group of swans playing outside the hot springs, and its a dream to take pictures.
Recommendation:
Before 10 o'clock in the morning and one hour before sunset, it is better to go to the light.
Equipment:
Swimwear, towels (all of which must be provided)
Traffic:
Sit JR to Kushiro, on the left side of the station No. 15 and other buses, there are not many flights, to be advanced Buy tickets at the station and go to the hotel on Lake Akan, 2,700 yen per person. We booked a chartered one-day tour online, and the return route was from Akan-Lake Road. In the peak season, the chartered car was 3,800 RMB. The result was a small tourist car (a dozen small buses).
Seeing the Swan
Chu Lulu Lake on the shore of the Kussharo Lake is the largest lake in the Akanmo Week National Park. There are several hot springs on the southeast side that can be bathed. In winter, the lake will freeze, but because there are hot springs in the ground, some of the high-heated ice melts, and four to five hundred swans inhabit each year.
First come to the sand soup. There is a hot spring pouring out of the sand at the lakeside. If you are interested, you can dig a pool to make an open-air hot spring. Although the weather was good, the wind blew very cold, and almost thought that the swan would not be able to skip this place, and it was hiding on the other side. The nearby store can buy salt-free popcorn to feed the swan.
Then go to Gome Hot Springs. This open-air hot spring facing the Kussha Lake has been cleaned regularly by locals. The dressing room is divided into men and women. The pool is one, with a rock partition in the middle. You can wear a towel or bathrobe to soak. Looking at the scenery of the distant mountains is very beautiful, the swan is swimming around, but the winter is too cold, quickly pat the swan, wrap the clothes on the body, no courage to make hot springs.
Hokkaido East Road Trip: La Vista Onsen Hotel Experience.
Hokkaido East Road is as beautiful as a fairyland 😉 When choosing an onsen hotel, I hesitated for a while between Tsuruga and La Vista, and finally decided on La Vista, and felt it was very worthwhile after checking in.
It is indeed not very convenient to get to, but because of this, the surrounding environment is particularly quiet. The hotel is located next to the forest and stream, and in the morning, looking at the snow scene and soaking in the hot spring, the misty water vapor seems to wash and purify the soul 🧘
🏠 Room type: We chose a river view quadruple room, with two single beds and one double bed, which is perfect for traveling with friends. There is a private bath in the bathroom, but you have to fill it yourself, and you can see the river view outside from here. Check-in is at 3 pm and check-out is at 11 am the next day.
♨ Onsen: The onsen is divided into male and female baths, with indoor and outdoor pools. You can go to the bath after taking a shower indoors. There are lockers and bathrooms in the onsen area, and towels and clothes can be put in the lockers, and you can go to the bath with the key. The open-air onsen is not cold at all in the snowy winter, the water temperature is very high, and the scenery is beautiful. It is so happy to enjoy the snow scene while soaking in the bath 😍 In addition to the public bath separated by men and women, there is also a private bath area, with a total of three rooms. There is a separate bathroom and onsen pool in the private bath, and as long as the door is closed, the corresponding sign outside will light up, so you can know if anyone is using it. If no one is using it, you can go in directly without making a reservation.
🍣 Food: We booked one night and two meals (including one dinner and breakfast). There are two dining periods for dinner, 5:30 pm and 8 pm. After dinner, the waiter will let us choose the breakfast time for the next day, and there are Western or Japanese breakfasts to choose from.
🚗 Transportation: The transportation here is really a bit troublesome, it is far from the station, and it is difficult to get there without driving or chartering a car. When we went there, we chartered a car for a whole day in East Road that day, and went directly to the hotel at night, saving a lot of trouble in transportation. When checking in, you can make a reservation with the hotel for a minibus to Akan Lake Onsen Street at noon the next day, and then take a bus to leave Onsen Street. We checked out at 11 am, took the 11:30 am hotel shuttle bus to Onsen Street (about 10 minutes by car), and then bought a ticket at Onsen Street to take the 11:50 am bus to Kushiro Airport (more than an hour by car). If you are not sure about the transportation, you can send an email or call the hotel for consultation 🧐
I visited Lake Akan in Hokkaido!
Lake Akan (Akan-ko) is a volcanic lake located in eastern Hokkaido and is part of Akan-Mashu National Park. It is known for its beautiful natural scenery and rich ecosystem, and is especially famous as the habitat of the rare algae called Marimo. Here are some features of Lake Akan.

Winter: The lake surface freezes, creating a snowy landscape

Marimo is a rare algae that naturally grows only in Lake Akan and forms green spherical shapes.
Marimo is also called the "Jewel of Lake Akan" and is designated as a Special Natural Monument of Japan.
3. Tourism and Activities
Akan Lake Onsen: There is a hot spring town along the lake, attracting many tourists.
Sightseeing Boats: You can enjoy the beautiful scenery by taking a cruise around the lake.

All Japan Deep Travel (Youbaqi Studio).
In 1931, Japan passed the National Park Act, marking the beginning of the history of Japan's national parks.
From Hokkaido to Okinawa, there are currently 34 national parks in Japan, covering a total area of 21,945 square kilometers, equivalent to 5.8% of Japan's land area.
Japan currently has more than 34 national parks, all managed by the Ministry of the Environment.
Relatively speaking, national parks are government-designated national parks that best represent Japan's natural scenery, providing visitors with opportunities to get close to nature and experience the ecosystem, and are well worth a visit~
Akan-Mashu National Park:
Akan-Mashu National Park, composed of volcanoes, forests, and lakes, has the largest volcanic crater in Japan and is one of the oldest national parks in Hokkaido.
Most of the area is covered by natural forests dominated by subarctic coniferous forests, and its primitive appearance is unique among many national parks.
The three lakes in the park, Lake Akan, Lake Mashu, and Lake Kussharo, are not only the source of the park's name but also the main attractions.
Lake Akan is clear and has beautiful natural scenery, making it a leisurely place for boating or bird watching.
Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo are both crater lakes, with Lake Mashu known for its deep blue waters and surrounding rugged mountains;
Lake Kussharo is known for its geothermal activity and sand springs, where you can experience sand bathing on the lakeside beach and seek tranquility and nature.
In addition, the Ainu Kotan on the west side of Lake Akan Onsen is the largest Ainu settlement in Hokkaido, with about 30 households.
Nearby, there are many folk art shops, and the Lake Akan Ainu Theater also performs traditional Ainu dances and puppet shows, which are rare experiences.
Designated date: December 4, 1934
Area: 91,413 hectares
Transportation: Take the Akan Bus from Kushiro Airport for about 70 minutes to Lake Akan Onsen.
Eastern Hokkaido is truly worth it! It fulfills all your fantasies about Hokkaido.
Hokkaido in winter offers more than just the snow in Otaru❄️. There are hot springs and nature, where you can see red-crowned cranes dancing gracefully in the snow, soak in natural hot springs accompanied by swans🐦, and take an icebreaker cruise to witness the vast drift ice... Experience the charm of Hokkaido💖~
⛺【Must-Visit Spots】:
🕊Red-Crowned Crane Natural Park
A natural monument of Japan, the red-crowned cranes with their red crowns and pure white feathers dance elegantly in the snow, showcasing their graceful and noble posture.
💦Kotan Onsen
When the lake surface is frozen and mist surrounds, the best time to visit Kotan Onsen is at dusk. Soak in the warm natural sand bath while watching the sunset, experiencing the exclusive romance of Hokkaido.
🚎Happiness Station
Located in Obihiro's Kofukucho, Happiness Station, though now a disused station, still attracts many visitors to take photos and pray for happiness for themselves and their families.
🏞Lake Kussharo
Part of Akan National Park, this crescent-shaped lake has crystal-clear blue water that is breathtakingly beautiful, known locally as 'the place where the lake turns into a river.'
🛳IMERU III Icebreaker
Take the IMERU III to experience one of the few places outside the polar circles where you can see drift ice. If you're lucky, you might spot various cute animals migrating from the north.
🧚♀️Forest Fairy Terrace
Designed by writer So Kuramoto, this fairy-tale village built in the forest becomes a magical place in winter, with snow covering the small wooden houses, making it look like a fairy's residence hidden within.

The Kushiro Marsh Observatory
#japantrip Nice facility with interesting showcases of the local wildlife. Short walk to a separate viewing platform but everything is very far away and onsite binoculars cost 100yen for one minute of viewing. When you get here go to the toilets and follow the path next to them, the view is quite vast though with not much detail. I enjoyed the bouncyness of the wooden walk way.

- An elegant hotel where weddings are also held
- The interior is well-maintained and comfortable to stay in

This hotel is popular in the Kushiro area, especially in the city area. It has a chapel inside, so it seems that weddings are held there as well. I think it falls into the category of long-established hotels, but the interior is very beautiful, and the stay is comfortable itself. Please consider staying here when you visit the Kushiro area.

Lake Akan in eastern Hokkaido perfectly combines the magnificent scenery of northern nature with the unique local cultural charm, attracting countless tourists to come and enjoy it.
A vast lake lies quietly surrounded by mountains like a huge mirror. The crystal clear lake water reflects the surrounding rolling mountain scenery and the original forests dotted in it, forming a refreshing natural beauty. What's even more valuable is that the lake here has a unique blue-green two-color layering effect, making the entire lake even more mysterious and moving.

Let’s take a look at Toyoko Inn, a Japanese home. How about it?
This time in Kushiro,
I also stayed at the Toyoko Inn for one night.
His hotel is a large hotel chain in Japan.
It is very similar to Home Inns in China.
Maybe it doesn’t have many features,
But at least there's nothing wrong with living here.
Toyoko Inn offers free breakfast, internet and standard rooms.
House types and layouts are similar across Japan.
The room is very small,
It's difficult to open the suitcase.
But the bathroom design is really nothing to say.
The faucet can be turned to the basin for washing hands or to the bathtub to drain water.
The free breakfast is actually quite rich in variety.
Vegetables, meat, staple food, soup, drinks, coffee,
The quality and taste are guaranteed.
Self-service laundry room and vending machines are all available.
There are also free water dispensers and ice machines for use.
Check-in and check-out at the front desk also use self-service machines.
The interface is in Chinese which is very convenient.
No need to worry at all.
In general,
Toyoko Inns are very densely distributed in Japan.
The price/performance ratio is also very high,
It’s generally the right choice.

A must-have! Winter limited steam train🚂only runs for two months a year
Take the SL Fuyushigen train from Kushiro Station.
It is a very popular check-in item when traveling to Kushiro in winter.
It only runs irregularly for a period of time every year in winter.
Specific operating times can be found on the official website.
The SL Shigenhao is a rare steam retro train in existence.
It is quite popular among railway fans.
The train shuttles through the snow-covered wetlands,
It gives people a dreamlike feeling of returning to the Taisho era.
Be sure to make a reservation on eki-net in advance when taking the SL Shigena Line!
You can check the SL Shigen number by entering the date and time period of Kushiro and Pyocha.
All cars have reserved seats.
If you have a JR PASS,
Just buy the designated seat tickets directly.
If not, you must buy a bus ticket + a reserved seat ticket.
The preferred seats are seats D in cars 1 and 5.
They are all bar seats on the river side.
The second is the odd-numbered seats A and D of cars No. 3 and 4.
They all have window seats on the Sichuan side with better views.
However, after actual testing,
The scenery on both sides has its own beauty.
When passing through the wetlands on the river side, you will see a large river.
There is no need to worry about whether it is on the Sichuan side.
Each carriage of the train has a charcoal-burning stove.
Simple self-service barbecue is also one of the special features of the train.
You can grill squid, sweet potatoes or rice balls here.
You can also share baked food with others,
Meet new friends,
It is a rare and simple and warm railway journey.
Shigenhao actually focuses on photographing cars.
So I strongly recommend taking the trip back to Kushiro from Chacha.
In the morning, we went to various shooting spots to take pictures of trains.
Because the standard tea does not have a U-turn,
On the return trip, the front of the car is in the opposite direction.
Very ugly,
Like my obsession to sit on the side of the river,
I chose the journey from Kushiro to Biaocha.
I can only take pictures of such an ugly car front.

Kushiro Art Museum, Hokkaido
#thingstodo I saw the commemorative exhibition. It was interesting to see that there were photographs in the collection, as well as works related to the region. There seemed to be some projects that locals could enjoy. This is a facility you would want to visit if you were local. There are many exhibits that are not available at other museums.
There is a paid exhibition room on the 1st floor.
A hall where concerts can be held.
stand.
Free exhibition room.
And so on.
On the second floor is a small library room.
Cafe. There are drinks such as coffee in the cafe.
Cookies, subs, toast.
In addition, the toast set can be combined with potage, consommé, coffee, etc.
Toast is 450 yen with your choice of butter or jam.
It's relaxing and relaxing.
There are also menus tailored to events, so it's fun.
Take your kids to Hokkaido for snow chasing! These off-the-beaten-path travel destinations are worth a visit!
Take your kids to Hokkaido for snow chasing! These off-the-beaten-path travel destinations are worth a visit!
Here's a guide for you!
·
❗️Key questions:
1️⃣Is it cold:
As a Shenzhen resident, I sincerely feel that Hokkaido is not that cold! I brought a few packs of warm babies, and I didn't use them much because it was hot later. The outdoor time is relatively short, we often play outside for a while and then go indoors to warm up (the mall convenience store is super hot!) The last day of cooling and blowing is really cold~
2️⃣What to wear
Down jacket + thermal pants (leg magic) + thin sweater + waterproof pants + waterproof snow boots; remember to wear a hat, scarf, gloves and earmuffs!
3️⃣Our route: Sapporo——Otaru——Kushiro——Lake Mashu——Lake Akan——Abashiri Drift Ice Ship——Sapporo
4️⃣Transportation:
Renting a car in Japan is not convenient, we chose public transportation for the whole journey!
✨City movement: We bought the JR Hokkaido Pass five-day ticket on Klook, directly exchanged the physical ticket at Sapporo Station and reserved the designated seat tickets from Sapporo to Kushiro and Abashiri back to Sapporo, during which you can take JR's tram at will, very cost-effective! (Last picture)
✨Kushiro-Lake Mashu-Lake Akan: We booked the Lake Akan sightseeing bus in advance, got on the bus at Kushiro bus station at 8:30, visited several attractions such as Sunayu, Sulfur Mountain, Lake Mashu, etc., and then arrived at Lake Akan Hot Spring Hotel♨️
·
👉Recommend a few places I love:
📍Otaru
Junji Iwai shot the movie 'Love Letter' in Otaru, Hokkaido, Otaru in the snow, unrealistically romantic!
📍Kushiro
Eastern Hokkaido, compared to Sapporo and Otaru, it is more off-the-beaten-path, fewer tourists, but the scenery is incredibly stunning! Tsurumidai, Sunayu are suitable for children, you can see red-crowned cranes and swans up close; you can also see Sulfur Mountain up close
📍Lake Akan
Famous hot spring street, it's super comfortable to soak in the hot spring while enjoying the snow
📍Abashiri
You must experience the sea ice ship once! Every February, drift ice appears along the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk, and you can take a drift ice ship from Abashiri to enjoy this spectacle, it's particularly shocking!
Embark on the most primitive journey in Hokkaido to explore unknown territories
❄️When it comes to Hokkaido, people always think of powder snow, hot springs, and colorful lights.🌲However, in the World Heritage Shiretoko Peninsula, Akan Mashu National Park and Kushiro Wetland in the east of Hokkaido, the tranquility and primitiveness covered by the original forest are the real charm of Hokkaido.

Car trip to Akan Mashu National Park in Hokkaido
Located in eastern Hokkaido, Akan Mashu National Park is the oldest and largest national park in Hokkaido. Home to many lakes and unique ecosystems, the national park is known for many features, including volcanoes, crater lakes, native forests, wildlife, hot springs and Ainu Aboriginal culture. Because the operating hours of public transportation are variable, it is recommended to rent a car after arriving in Hokkaido to visit the park. You can explore the Akan area, view algae, fish, or hike in the mountains.
During winter, you can also enjoy the white snow and experience a different kind of beautiful scenery.

After leaving Lake Akan, we are going to see the Japanese Cranes in Tsurui-mura. The birds here are backlit all day in wintertime.
The first time I know Lake Akan is [Suicide in Lake Akan] by Junichi Watanabe. The lake is beautiful, to be admired at different times of the day.

When you get off the bus, you will see a lot of cranes! Although everyone was very excited, they remained quiet and were afraid of disturbing these birds. The distance is still a little far away. If you use telephoto, you can make it very clear, or you can take a telescope. The crane spends most of its time eating food, occasionally flying, and the posture is beautiful. I didnt pay attention when I took the photo. Later I saw that some of them were chicks, and there was no red color on the top of the head~
