Lofoten Island Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Norway | The end of the world, the Lofoten Islands
| The end of the world, the Lofoten Islands. 🇳🇴 Lofoten, a paradise within the Arctic Circle, is rated by National Geographic as the second most beautiful archipelago in the world and described by Lonely Planet as 'breathtakingly beautiful'. It is, along with Senja, one of the most beautiful and worthwhile places to visit in Norway in my opinion!
Who wouldn't yearn for those isolated colorful little houses🏠? Lofoten is just that, solitary and peaceful, with beautiful and gentle lakes and mountains. How should you play in Lofoten? I recommend renting a car🚖 to have the most fun touring the entire island!
📸 About the attractions
❶ Hamnoy
Google Maps location 'Fotospot Hamnoy', the cover of Lonely Planet, better wide-angle shooting effect on the east side of the bridge.
❷ Olenilsoya kystfort
Location 'Roastad Retro Rorbuer', a few red houses, walk up the mountain trail next to the houses for a better view, especially when the lights of the fishing village are on in the evening.
❸ Å town
The end of the Lofoten Islands, the town with the shortest name in the world, with distant mountains looming, giving a sense of extremity.
❹ Skagsanden beach
The desolate beach along the E10 highway.
❺ Yellow House
Location 'Anita’s Sjomat', the popular yellow house is right next to it, nothing special about the house itself, but the surrounding scenery is not bad, worth a walk.
❻ XHenningsvaer Stadium
The football field is at the end of Henningsvaer, with nice scenery along the way, a romantic journey.
🚘 Route suggestion: Lofoten + Senja Island + Tromsø
🌈 Travel Tips
It is suggested to visit these places together, each with its own charm, no need to worry about aesthetic fatigue😻
Tromsø needs no introduction, stroll through the colorful streets of houses🏠, the design-savvy Arctic Cathedral, take the cable car🚠 to overlook the fjord, both the live view and the photo angles are good
Senja Island, which is on the way from Tromsø to Lofoten, is a perfect stopover. The mountains🏞 on Senja are higher, the terrain is more varied, and there are more viewing platforms, offering a more visually impactful experience

Winter's ultimate scenery not to be missed: Norway's Lofoten Islands.
As a child born in the south, the world of ice and snow has always been a place I longed for, but I also maintain a sense of awe and distance from it, knowing full well that I cannot withstand extremely low temperatures. That's why I have visited so many countries, with destinations mostly in the southern parts of the earth or in Europe that are not too cold. However, when I thought about the rare opportunity to come to the Netherlands, it seemed a shame not to visit Norway, so I decided not to give up this opportunity that was right in front of me.
🚶🏻♂️Departing after New Year's Day, Norway is currently experiencing polar night, with less than five hours of daylight. If it snows or rains, it may be gloomy all day long. Be mentally prepared, because after 3 pm, the whole earth falls into darkness. Also, this period is not the peak tourist season on the island, and many indigenous people will leave. Therefore, once it gets dark, you may not see many people even if you drive for a long time.
🚗When coming to the Lofoten Islands, be sure to rent a car for self-driving. Especially in this season, there is almost no public transportation, and driving is the most convenient option. Also, be sure to choose a four-wheel drive car, equipped with snow tires, and get full insurance, which is related to life safety. I rented a car at Evenes airport, which is relatively close to the Lofoten Islands. I also have friends who rented a car from Tromsø and drove all the way, which can be more tiring.
📍My trip in Lofoten lasts for five nights and six days, which is relatively tight. I will stay in three popular destinations on the islands: Andøya, Henningsvær, and Reine, and then explore from these three points. This way, the driving distance each day won't be too long, and I can experience the local customs and culture to the fullest. Among the three places, my favorite is still Henningsvær, which has a iconic football field at the end of the world, snow-capped mountains, and a larger city half an hour's drive away where I can buy materials and find enough restaurants.
🦪During the winter season, many restaurants in Rovaniemi are closed due to the off-season for travel. In addition, the cost of traveling in northern Europe is already higher than in the south, and even ordinary restaurants have an average cost of around 200-300 RMB per person. Therefore, buying relatively cheap raw materials in supermarkets and cooking for oneself is a more worry-free and cost-effective way.
📸As long as it's a good day, the Isle of Rafton is really photogenic, with an extreme purity and coolness that will make you unable to stop your camera. Many times, you can take very beautiful photos with just your phone. My camera model is Canon R5, and I basically used the 24-105 lens throughout the journey.
Next winter, looking forward to the opportunity to say goodbye to the Nordic again!
Lofoten Islands, Norway
The Lofoten Islands are a dream destination for many travellers from all over the world. This archipelago offers one of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe. It owes its name "Lofoten" to its form, that of the footprint of a lynx. Get into the wild this year, leave the busy cities, treat yourself to limitless horizons. The Lofoten Islands are the promise of real contact with nature, with the elements. Located just 200 km from the Arctic Circle, the Lofoten Islands will surprise you.
You will discover fine white sand beaches, a crystal blue sea, fishing villages out of a children's story, unforgettable landscapes. The easiest way is to book your flights to Oslo and take a domestic flight to Bodø. From Bodø, take the ferry to Svolvær where most of the expeditions to the Lofoten Islands leave. You can also reach Bodø by train from Oslo or Tromsø.

Reinebringen Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Sailing and hiking in Lofoten was my favourite trip during 2019. I haven’t seen any landscape like this in the world and this is the one place I have promised myself to come back to again. The heart of Lofoten is Reine which you can see o this picture. It has the cutest little fishing village and amazing hikes all around it. In summer the sun doesn’t set for two months and you can be outside all the time. Another must do here is to go out on a fishing trip with a local fishermen to catch cod and if you are lucky you will even spot whales on the ocean.

When I visited the Lofoten Islands last summer I went there during the midnight sun. Have you ever heard of that? It means that the sun never sets during some month in summer (may-tune). It’s definitely the best time to visit this place in my opinion. These pictures here were taken during the night on a hike I will never forget. This place is called Reinebringen. You can reach this peak by walking over 1000 stairs that have been built by Nepalese sherpas last summer. When you reach the top you have this amazing view over the fjords.

Watching the sun set from this mountain called Reinebringen should definitely be on your bucket list!
Reine & Hamny/hh in Lofoten Islands. The two most popular towns in Lofoten are Reine and Hamny, two adjacent villages. From the airbnb we stayed along the No. 10 road, we will first go to Hamny, then Reine, and finally to the southernmost town of Ou Village.
When passing through Hamny, I saw a group of photographers taking pictures on the bridge. The picture of a group of seabirds gathered together, I thought it was always there. Later, I realized that some people were feeding them, so they attracted them. It is really shocking and beautiful to take this picture.
If you go to Reine in the summer, it is highly recommended to climb the Reinebringen Mountain and overlook the entire Reine. Because the mountain roads are steep, they are all stone slopes, and it is not easy to go up the mountain in winter. I heard that the intersection is very hidden. I used to see pictures taken by the big god on the Internet. The scenery is super beautiful. If you have the opportunity to go again in the summer, you must experience it.

One of the most captivating displays of Mother Nature I've ever seen in my life! There was no time to waste. I pulled up on the beach as gorgeous green, purple and orange ribbons of light danced across the night sky. Beautiful.
When you see the aurora for the first time, you will completely flip out. Chasing the northern lights is for sure one of the best activity during the winter months in the north
Just a scenic view to a wonderful Beach. It's not only a good place for surfing, you can also hike through this beautiful Landscape.

Well my top tip would be to experience Van life then. Your accommodations and transportation are all in one so that cuts a huge chunk of changed.
You also have the ability to cook all your meals or at least most of them. When travelling I like to try local restaurants but at least this way helps so that l'm not eating out every single meal. Plus who doesn't love eating in absolutely beautiful places
TOl Pasta in a big
giant green field, sign me up baby!
Another reason I love Van life when travelling is you can hit up so many places on your travel list and you can also go with the flow a bit more. Don't get me wrong I love a big gorgeous hotel bed and stunning balcony views, but waking up where ever the heart desires is a pretty great feeling. Now as a side note, some places I go it's super easy to find camping and other times it's a lot harder. So research your destination and see if wild camping is a common thing
Norway is known for its natural beauty. The Lofoten Islands in the Arctic Circle are the jewel in the crown and have been named one of the most beautiful islands in the world by National Geographic. Even the Norwegian natives mentioned this place, and their looks are longing for.
Scandic Narvik Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Scandic Scandic, a mid-range brand under the Hilton Group, is worth a stay in Narvik, Norway. Narvik is the northernmost non-freezing port in the world and the northernmost port city in the world. Located in the heart of the city, this Scandic is facing the port and has 16 floors and is the highest hotel in the area. The room is very comfortable, it is highly recommended that you live here, 15F1504 room, 180 degrees because it is a corner room L-shaped glass window ring snow mountain landscape, as long as you turn off the lights without leaving home, you can already see the panoramic view of Narvik. The sky meal on the 16th floor is very happy to have a drink at night.
The price is about 800 RMB for one breakfast, and there are 8 hot dishes for breakfast. The cold-smoked smoked salmon is suitable for all kinds of cheese. Although it is not very suitable for our appetite, the price is really high.
