You can see three rivers at once from there—just wow 😍 Entrance to the castle museum costs €7, but if you take the shuttle from Römerplatz (before the bridge), you'll get a €2 discount. ☀️ Another life hack: visit on a sunny day—the colors of the water and roofs are especially vibrant then. The climb to the castle on foot takes only 10-15 minutes, and the views along the way are so stunning that you'll want to stop every few steps and take photos 📸 But this beauty has a downside—frequent flooding. A year ago, the water level rose so high that people were sailing around the old town on boats! It's no wonder there's a hydrometric gauge on the embankment—it's scary to imagine the upper gauges were already in use. The town's architecture is subtly Austrian, with a slight tendency toward pomp. I've also added the luxurious Danube cruise ships to my wishlist ✔️ I'm also adding the specialty coffee shop Lievie to my list of recommendations; they really know their way around the brew and serve coffee with a bean label. A tributary of the Ilz River flows into the Danube from behind the ancient castle. The Danube and Inn rivers meet distinctly at the triangular tip of the old town. The gentle flow of the Danube and the rapids of the Inn form a clear boundary line. Thus, Passau is also known as Germany's most beautiful 'water city'. The old town features the town hall, St. Stephen's Cathedral, the bishop's residence, the bishop's old castle, and the bedroom palace where Princess Sisi once stayed. Passau was a place of seclusion for Princess Sisi when she was in a melancholic mood. It is said to be her favorite small town. The old castle, perched on high mountains and built in the 13th century, was the private domain of the bishop. It is now a national museum.
