Tanjung Aru Beach in Sabah is famous for its stunning sunsets. However, to witness the most beautiful sunset, the weather must be perfect with clear skies and no clouds. During our first visit, although it was sunny, there were some clouds, so the sunset wasn't perfect. On our second visit, the weather was excellent, and as the sun set, the entire sea turned golden. There were even cows passing by, adding to the picturesque scene.

The sunset at Tanjung Aru Beach 🌇 is truly beautiful. I went to Kota Kinabalu for a 7-day family trip, and it rained the whole time. I was finally lucky enough to see the perfect beach sunset on the last day. 👍 Highly recommended: 1. The chance of seeing the sunset during the rainy season is much lower, but once you do, it's absolutely stunning. 2. There are several good restaurants by the sea, such as ZING SUNSET BAR and LUCY kitchen, where you can enjoy dinner while watching the sunset. 3. Sunset paddleboarding is a popular water activity in Kota Kinabalu. You can book it on Trip.com. It takes more than 2 hours, and you can learn from scratch. It's safe and regulated. Seeing the sunset on a paddleboard in the middle of the sea is an unforgettable experience.

The long queues are a waste of time. There are plenty of places on Gaya Street with no queues, and the food is just as good. You might be pleasantly surprised by the flavors at any random place you choose. Now, let's talk about water activities. You can try the water activities on the nearby islands, but I don't recommend snorkeling. It's crowded, and the water is quite murky, so you can't see much. If you really want to snorkel, go to Mantanani Island. Although it's a long boat ride, the scenery is worth it. The clear water and beautiful underwater views will make it all worthwhile. As for the City Mosque, I don't really recommend going inside. Once you're in, you're limited to a small area with no guides or explanations, so it's not very interesting. Just take photos outside, which costs 5 RM, while going inside costs 10 RM. Plus, you have to change into specific clothes, which is a hassle. Finally, let's talk about the local durians. 🏨 On September 22, I stayed at Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu. It is said that Kota Kinabalu has the most beautiful sunset in the world. The sun sets and the sea reflects a long, thin golden light. The sky is slowly dyed. 📍 The hotel is in a good location, and is basically surrounded by Chinese people. It is very convenient to get to the island, and it takes 7-8 minutes to get to the hub station. The locals recommend Mantanani Island, which has a glass jelly texture. My friend caught a bread crab for me to see, it was so cute. I also saw the most fish I have ever seen while snorkeling. But! The boat ride takes an hour, and it is so bumpy that you will question your life. You will basically arrive at around 12:00, and return at 3:00-4:00. 🏄‍♀️ Sunset paddle board, the first time I played stand-up paddle, the coach praised me. Keep your core stable, don't be afraid. It was actually quite fun, I paddled very fast, and I felt very safe lying on the paddle board and rising and falling with the waves. 🏨 Other: About the hotel: I looked at many resort-style hotels and did some research. These hotels have more small creatures, or the maintenance cost is too high, and the hardware is average. If you don't mind the age, you can go and experience it. ✈️ Travel time: I think 3 days and 2 nights, or 4 days and 3 nights is more than enough. The city is average, the airport is very small, and I would give it 1 star for shopping. 🍽️ Food: There is a night market behind the hotel on Fridays and Saturdays. The long street is full of things, 1/3 of which are drinks, which are colorful and sweet, and not very interesting. You can only use cash. I didn't exchange money that day, so I spent a little Singaporean dollars. Apart from Jingwen Tea Restaurant, which is worth eating, the price may be the main reason. A table of dishes costs less than RMB 300. I just went to Kota Kinabalu from Singapore, and the same thing in Singapore costs about RMB 3,000. I visited at the end of September and the weather was great! It wasn't as hot as I expected, so it was less tiring. We stayed at Shangri-La for one night and Ming Garden for the rest. Both had swimming pools, so we swam whenever we had time lol. Shangri-La allowed us to use the star lounge before and after check-in, so we could swim, shower, and rest. Our flight was almost at midnight, but we were able to use the star lounge until 10 PM after checking out, which made us very satisfied with the accommodation. It seems cheaper to book Shangri-La Tanjung Aru in advance. It gets more expensive as the trip approaches. Breakfast is included but not tasty lol. Watching the sunset at the Sunset Bar is famous, but I felt it wasn't necessary. You can just watch it from the surroundings. Paddle boating out to see the sunset looked pretty good. The best sunset I saw was during the firefly tour. I don't know where it was, but it was an amazing sunset, I had to admit. Next time, I'll return with a review of the food in Kota Kinabalu.
