Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) my Notes and Thoughts 🇩🇪
#100waysoftravel
Berlin Cathedral, designed by the famous architect Julius and son at the time, was built in 1905 by the German emperor Wilhelm Il. During the bombing of World War II, the cathedral suffered heavy losses. The current building is the result of the vigourous restoration completed in 1993, but after the reconstruction, many of the original design and decoration of the church have been simplified and have not been fully restored to the glory of that year.
The original palace next to the cathedral was also destroyed in World War II. One side of the church faces the Spree River, and the other side faces the
"Happy Garden".
The building is magnificent, and every architectural detail is carefully decorated. After entering the church, there is a huge circular room, which is mainly decorated with plaster and gilded space. One of the magnificent Baroque altars comes from the previous cathedral where the church was built.
The magnificent pipe organ in the left corridor of the church was made in 1905 and consists of 7,269 tubes.
It is one of the largest pipe organs in the country.
The underground church is where many members of the royal family are placed in the sarcophagus; on the observation deck, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of Berlin.
The original intention of building the Berlin church is to be the main religion of Protestantism.

Located on the Museum Island in the heart of Berlin, Berlin Cathedral is a Renaissance-style Protestant church built by Emperor Wilhelm II and a monument to the Hohenzollern dynasty. Many members of the royal family sleep here.
The interior is extremely gorgeous and even reaches the level of glitz. The splendid interior is decorated with columns with intricate lines and exquisite murals, and even the stigma is gold-plated. The most memorable part of the church is the 74-meter dome made of Silesia sandstone and the 95 luxury stone sarcophagi parked on the ground floor, all of which are members of the Hohenzollern royal family.

Lin Cathedral is the best looking church in Berlin, and the most tiring church. It is going to go around the circle, and the stairs are very tired for me who lack sports. The scenery behind the top will not disappoint you. The Berlin Cathedral is very close to the museum. After visiting, you can visit the Museum Island directly. It is very convenient.

The experience of visiting Berlin Cathedral left me deeply impressed. This magnificent building stands tall, with its spectacular dome and exquisite interior that are truly awe-inspiring. Walking into the cathedral, I felt a serene atmosphere and a profound sense of history, prompting me to reflect on faith and human pursuits. Climbing up to the dome's observation deck, I was able to overlook the entire city of Berlin, and the beauty of the city was breathtaking. This trip was not only an appreciation of art and architecture but also gave me a deeper understanding of Berlin's history, leaving unforgettable memories.

First time in Germany! You must check out these fairy tale towns.
Germany, the most charming scenery, is often not in those famous attractions in the city, but hidden in those narrow and winding fairy tale towns! But among the many towns, the most heart-warming ones are these. If you miss any of them for the first time in Germany, I will regret it for you!
[Ramsau]
About 40 minutes drive from Lake Königssee, near the German-Austrian border, at the foot of the Alps, it is built along the stream, with little commercialization; the town church, magic forest, and rear lake are all good..
[Rothenburg]
The medieval ancient city style is preserved in the most complete area, and it is also a very romantic city; the roofs of the houses in the town are mostly dark red, and there are arches, ancient city walls, etc., which are very atmospheric at a glance.
[Bamberg]
Walking here, you will feel like you are in a medieval museum; among them, the water city hall, Bamberg Cathedral, Schlenkra Brewery, and Bamberg University are all its must-visit places,
[Würzburg]
An ancient city built on the banks of the Main River, there are not only praised cultural relics, but also simple Main River scenery, intoxicating Franken wine, etc., it is really a small city that you don't want to leave when you come.
[Cochem]
It is a wine-producing town, a good place to pass the time, whether you stay in a coffee shop or stroll along the vineyard, it is a good choice.

The Berlin Cathedral in Berlin, Germany.
Recently, it was used as a filming location for the drama 'Queen of Tears'. The scenery is beautiful. It is located on Museum Island. There is a well-maintained garden inside, making it a great place to relax. Unlike typical German architecture, this Protestant church has a splendid exterior, making it a great backdrop for photos. Nearby, you can also visit Bebelplatz and Neue Wache, making it convenient to see multiple attractions at once.

Follow Wukong to explore ancient buildings: Munich Frauenkirche and Berlin Cathedral in Germany
I must declare that a friend is traveling in Germany 🇩🇪 with a child for study, and took some photos as requested. Except for the 6th photo with the German flag and the dome of the church, the requested photo of the Devil's Footprint 👣 was not taken. Therefore, I can only collect information from an architectural perspective and share it with friends.
You can interact and claim a photo.
⛱️Must-visit attractions:
1. The Legend of the Devil's Footprint 👣
In the Frauenkirche in Munich, Germany, there is a conspicuous footprint on the ground as soon as you enter the door, which people call the Devil's Footprint.
There is a magical legend about this footprint, which brings a mysterious atmosphere to this ancient church.
Every year, tourists come in an endless stream to see this footprint, making this church famous.
It is said that when the church was originally planned to be built, the Devil learned of this news and was very angry: "What! Another new church is going to be built, it must not be built." So, it found the architect and demanded that the church be built according to its requirements, that is, the Devil should not see any windows from where it stood, because the Devil does not like light and hopes the church will be in complete darkness, otherwise it would take the architect's soul. This really troubled the architect.
On the day of completion, the Devil came to inspect and found that from where it stood, indeed no windows could be seen, but the church was still very well-lit.
It turned out that the clever architect used tall columns to block the Devil's view, and there were many windows on both sides of the church, making the whole church very bright, but no windows could be seen from where the Devil stood.
This made the Devil very angry and helpless, it stomped its foot hard and then left, leaving a footprint on the ground.
2. The Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) is a Lutheran church located at the eastern end of Museum Island in central Berlin, Germany.
It was once the court church of the House of Hohenzollern of the German Empire.
3. Andreas Mueller, the dean of St. Nicholas' Church in Berlin, Germany.
Mueller was commissioned by the Elector of Brandenburg to collect books and reports about China and also studied Chinese characters. He claimed to have discovered the "key" to mastering Chinese characters, but kept it secret, and later burned his years of hard work.
4. The 7th photo: The dome of the church is wide and tall, with gilded mosaic holy paintings and side-lit windows making people feel as if the Holy Spirit has descended.
🌄Travel Tips:
You can visit German churches when no worship services are being held.
The church is open from Monday to Saturday 9am—8pm, from April to September on Sunday afternoons from 12pm—8pm, and from October to March on Sundays from 12pm—7pm; the basement is open from Monday to Saturday 9am—6pm, and on Sundays from 12pm—6pm.
🏨Accommodation Tips:
Be sure to book hotels online in advance.
It is said that the initial design concept of the Bavarian Court Hotel came from King Ludwig I, and it is one of the most legendary hotels in Munich.
The hotel perfectly combines historical elegance with modern elements.
On the hotel's terrace, you can fully enjoy the picturesque scenery of Munich. In summer, it can be used for barbecues, and in winter it becomes a unique ice bar.
Hotel guests can enter the hotel's own cinema for free and enjoy the charm of movies while lying on comfortable sofas.
💗Other Tips:
Additional must-visit spots:
1. In Munich, you must not miss the noble and elegant yet historically rich palace area and the distinctive Frauenkirche;
2. The Gothic New Town Hall,
3. The Roman-style King's Square and various modern buildings.
4. One building after another makes you feel like you are walking through a corridor of architectural history, making you marvel at the name "European Architecture Museum".
European buildings are in the center, surrounded by greenery, with an empty exterior and a solid interior, using emptiness to highlight the solid, from the palace to the residences, there are no solid walls.
Observing from the street, the building's image is fully visible.
Private green spaces and the entire city merge into a unified landscape, with openness and public enjoyment.
Residents love to plant flowers and trees by their windows and doors, and climbing plants are often seen on walls, making the whole city look like a large garden.

The serene Berlin Cathedral
#travelanywhere
The "Berliner Dom" or the Berlin Cathedral is a Lutheran Church and is located in Berlin Mitte, the place by the Spree River where this beautiful city was founded.
It was built between 1895 and 1905 by the order of William II and designed by German architect Julius Raschdorff.
This beautiful piece of architecture is considered to be one of the most important monuments of the city, along with the famous Brandenburg Gate and Museum.
Like all of Berlin, bombing heavily damaged the building. Since rebuilding this was not a priority, its repair was postponed until 1975 when it was partially rebuilt. In 1993, after achieving reunification, it was rebuilt in its entirety with its original, beautiful appearance.
There´s a large crypt inside the church where many members of the Hohenzollern family-German royal personages-are buried.

A symbol of Neo Renaissance in Berlin, the Berlin Cathedral
#europetrip
One of the symbolic structure in Berlin is the Berlin Cathedral, currently serving as a monumental Protestan Church. It was established in 1451 as the Castle chapel of the Berlin Palace, and also the crypt of the Hohenzollern dynasty, where there is a crypt below the cathedral with more than 100 coffins. The current structure underwent several remodeling and expansion in 1538, 1750 and 1905. The current structure is built based on the Neo Renaissance facade under the Prussian state, with the completed cost of 11.5 million Marks . Although partially destroyed during the Allied bombings, the state quickly recovered the structure and reinaugurated in year 1993 for visits. Today, it serves as a prominent Protestant Church in the city for worshippers.

Encounter Berlin~ Authentic Germany~
The capital of Germany, Berlin, is located in the northeast of the country with a population of less than 4 million. Records of this city date back to around the 12th century. The tributaries of the Elbe River flow through here, nourished by water, and after so many years of sedimentation, it retains historical buildings of different styles. There is the Baroque Berlin Cathedral, the neoclassical Reichstag building, and the modern Berlin TV Tower.
There are also some that you see while walking on the streets, ordinary houses that are not very tall and belong to the above three styles. Some focus more on the overall patterns, while others are very intricate around the doors. As the capital of a country, being able to encompass so many architectural styles is also a manifestation of inclusiveness.

1. Museum Island
Museum Island is located in the heart of Berlin, on the northern side of the Spree Island. It is home to many of Germany's leading museums. In 1992, Museum Island was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
2. Brandenburg Gate
Originally, the Brandenburg Gate was a city gate in the Berlin Wall, named for the road leading to Brandenburg. The rebuilt Brandenburg Gate became a symbol of the Cold War era, but now it stands as a testament to Germany's reunification.
3. Berlin Cathedral
The Berlin Cathedral was built between 1895-1905 and was damaged during World War II. Restoration work continues to this day, but it remains one of Berlin's most striking landmark buildings.

From the dome of Berlin Cathedral, you see a different city
September ushers in autumn, wandering around Berlin, strolling through the streets.
Only by taking the road less traveled can you discover a different landscape.
❤️Recommended reason:
Adjacent to Museum Island, Berlin Cathedral is a place I've often passed by but never thought to climb its dome.
Taking advantage of the crisp autumn weather, I spent 10 euros on a ticket, initially intending to isolate myself from the worldly noise inside. To my surprise, I found that you can actually climb to the dome.
With decent stamina, it took ten minutes to reach the top.
Indeed, those 10 euros were well spent. The entire city seemed to be under its gaze.
🌟Highlights:
This Renaissance-style building, constructed by Emperor Wilhelm II in 1894, reaches a height of 114 meters. The dome, designed by Julius Raschdorff, gives the already tall church a visually rounded appearance. The exterior of the building is modeled after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome but also has its own distinctive features. The cathedral's vault is not a simple imitation of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome; its interior is bright and spacious, in stark contrast to the traditional dark and solemn church designs.
✅Must Experience:
The church ticket includes the cost of climbing to the top. Be sure to allow enough time to go up, and don't be afraid of the effort it takes to climb. Once you're up, you'll feel that everything is worth it. Of course, the weather is also very important.
Walk around the tower on the outer edge of the dome, going up and down without retracing your steps. You can overlook all the museums on Museum Island, the Zeughaus (now the German Historical Museum), the Humboldt Forum, and even the Berlin TV Tower in the distance, among many others.
Take videos, take photos, take selfies, take in the scenery, everything at will.

Berlin Cathedral is a truly magnificent architectural marvel that left me in awe. From the moment I approached the grand entrance, I was captivated by its imposing presence and intricate details.
The interior of the cathedral is equally breathtaking. The soaring ceilings, ornate decorations, and stunning stained glass windows create a sense of tranquility and reverence. As I walked through the nave, I couldn't help but feel a sense of history and spirituality.
The cathedral also offers stunning views of Berlin from its dome. Climbing to the top was an experience in itself, and the panoramic vistas of the city were absolutely breathtaking. It's definitely worth the effort to reach the observation deck for a unique perspective of Berlin's skyline.
The staff at Berlin Cathedral were friendly and helpful, providing information about the cathedral's history and answering any questions I had. The audio guide was also informative and enhanced my understanding of the significance of the cathedral.
Overall, Berlin Cathedral is a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply seeking a moment of tranquility in the bustling city. Its grandeur and beauty are truly awe-inspiring, making it a highlight of my visit to Berlin.
the ticket costs 10 euo, no cash.

Berlin is one of the city in Germany , as well as the capital. In the recent trip to Berlin, I felt really delightful and impressed of their architecture and the stunning view of those historical buildings. The first attraction is the Fernsehturm, which is one of the television tower and also an iconic landmark in Berlin. Furthermore, the Berlin cathedral is also a good place to explore around. It was built from 1894 to 1905. Moreover, it is convenient to take the metro to everywhere and I really recommend the S line which is the most convenient and easiest way to explore around the city.

The Berlin Cathedral (German: Berliner Dom), also known as the Evangelical Supreme Parish and Collegiate Church, is a monumental German Protestant church and dynastic tomb (House of Hohenzollern) on the Museum Island in central Berlin.
Having its origins as a castle chapel for the Berlin Palace, several structures have served to house the church since the 15th century.

While in Berlin, one of the top places to see was the Berlin Cathedral. I went mid afternoon and while the surrounding area was pretty busy, the cathedral itself wasn’t.
Entry is €10 and you can purchase the ticket from a small stall just to the left side of the cathedral entrance.
Once inside, the decor is stunning. Gold detail all around and peaceful.
You can take a walk up to the top of the dome, this is included in your ticket price but there are regular warnings as you enter that area to take care. You will also see signs on the way up counting how many steps you have left. It’s 267 steps in total, the staircases become narrow the further up you go.
