Chao Phraya River
Chao Phraya river is truly an amazing sight to see! As one of the main transportation channels in Thailand since ancient times, it is rich in history and culture.
As the river flows through Bangkok, travelers can witness a stunning array of architecture and landmarks from various points of interest and cultural significance. The Grand Palace and Wat Arun Temple are just a few of the amazing sites that can be seen.
Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to Chao Phraya river to anyone visiting Thailand. It's an integral part of the country's history and offers a unique perspective on the dynamic culture of Thailand.

Enjoy Chao Phraya river at sunset
Only 15 Thai Baht to travel as a local from the Chao Phraya River Pier like a Pro. The beautiful sunset and the nature along side the river, plus some restaurants on the river banks, were overwhelming the money spent on it. Strolling the areas through small lanes with lots of people both passers by, motorists and merchants. Ending up couldn’t resist to try displayed street food of Thai curry and drinks. #yuppije2023 #bangkok #chaophryariver #thaifood #yuppijetrip
nice cruise trip at Bangkok
#chaophryariver #cruise
Evening views of the illuminated ancient and modern treasures and temples of Bangkok, built along the banks of the Chao Phraya River, made for a truly lovely and memorable experience. The entertainment as we boarded the ship and the live band during the cruise were both lively and entertaining. The passing, illuminated dinner cruise ships were a pretty sight, as we enjoyed the dinner buffet, which offered a variety of food. Service was friendly.
Fresh air and river views
Nice elevated walkway which provides nice views of the river and the landscape. It's great to watch the boats go past and to get some fresh air and sunshine. Popular spot for locals to come and rest & relax. Worth a look if in the area. Especially at dusk. There are views available on both sides of the river which provide something each a little different. Around the bridge there are a couple of parks which make the walk here a pleasant one and as always Bangkok has lots of intresting things to see.
Chinatown is not too far a walk away if you wanted to combine it with something or you can check out the nearby Indian area too.

Bangkok Temple Tour.
It was an magical experience visting the temples in Bangkok. An early morning journey on a ferry down the Chao Phraya, eating fresh fruit for breakfast and a icy-sweet, freshly blended cup of Thai tea...and reaching the marvel of modern vs. ancient and natural bliss blended with human endeavour.
From the Golden Buddha to the Royal Palace..and all inbetween made it an enchanting experience. Combined with the smiles and hospitality of the Thai people...made it an unforgetable trip.
I would recommend the Chao Phraya Dinner Cruise. It was a highlight of our trip. Satiety combined with the marvelous Bangkok skyline.

Starbucks Reserve Chao Phraya Riverfront Spans 1,260 Sqm
This brand new opening marks Starbucks’ 12th Reserve Bar and 417th store in Thailand. And we can already foresee this will be the hotspot among many. Why? Well, let’s talk more about it. First of all, this Starbucks Reserve outlet has a panoramic view of the scenic Chao Phraya River as it is located on the 7th floor of ICONSIAM. So you can sip on coffee and relax with the breathtaking view.
#holidayvacation It is said that if you want to enjoy the real beauty of Bangkok then one must ride through Chao Phraya river once. At night, the beauties of the landscapes around the river becomes exceptional. I had a cruise ride along with dinner and it was really mesmerizing night experience ever.
Just a little heads up about the Chao Phraya, it is the major river in Thailand, with its low alluvial plain forming the centre of the country. It flows through Bangkok and then into the Gulf of Thailand. It was, and still is, a very important waterway for the people of central Thailand.
Many people call the banks of the Chao Phraya River home. Others use the river to get to and from work almost every day. For others, it is a way of life and, ultimately, their main source of income. So if you’re in Bangkok this is a must! #merryxmas

The Chao Phraya River makes Bankok alive, nourished Bangkok's prosperity, and adds a little softness and mystery to this ancient and modern city. 🦋
During the day, the Chao Phraya River is bustling, buses and long tail boats shuttle on the river; and when the city lights on, 🕶the Chao Phraya River shows another style of beauty, which makes you feel the charming night of Bangkok.💼
#happynewyear
Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, is a large city known for ornate shrines and vibrant street life. The boat-filled Chao Phraya River feeds its network of canals, flowing past the Rattanakosin royal district, home to opulent Grand Palace and its sacred Wat Phra Kaew Temple. Nearby is Wat Pho Temple with an enormous reclining Buddha and, on the opposite shore, Wat Arun Temple with its steep steps and Khmer-style spire.

In Bangkok, in addition to the crowded roads and public transportation, there is another kind of transportation that does not have to endure the traffic jam and does not have to endure the subway crowd. It is the cruise on the Chao Phraya River - this time I chose CHAO PHRAYA TOURIST BOAT~ ~ Not only can you see the scenery of the Chao Phraya River and Bangkok, but you can also connect many popular attractions~~
The Chao Phraya River is the mother river of Bangkok. The river runs through Bangkok. You can spend a little money on a boat to explore the unique scenery on both sides.
There are countless temples and white buildings on both sides of the Chao Phraya River, which are particularly dazzling and fresh in the sunshine.
The river is not clear, but such rivers breed the culture and heritage of Thailand and Bangkok, nourishing the growth of Thai people.
Down the river, we see fewer and fewer tall buildings, but more and more dazzling temples, this is really a big open tour!
The Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok offers a brand new luxurious dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River, and the riverside Thai restaurant is truly exceptional
There is a hotel on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, Thailand, where the royal family has stayed twice. It is the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok~ This place is like a charming riverside resort in the heart of this vibrant city. The hotel is divided into the Shangri-La Wing and the Bangkok Wing~ creating a natural resting place in the center of the city.
The recently launched Shangri-La Horizon luxury cruise dinner in Bangkok is amazing! The night view of both sides of the Chao Phraya River is really too beautiful~ No matter how many times you see it, you will never get tired of it, and it is highly recommended not to miss it when you come to Bangkok!
Additionally, the hotel's riverside Thai restaurant, Salathip Thai Restaurant, has always been one of the hottest eateries in Bangkok, and it's hard to get a seat all year round, so be sure to book in advance~ Don't underestimate this restaurant, apart from its famous Thai teak pavilions, Bangkok's government departments often host foreign dignitaries here~ All the dishes and ingredients at the restaurant are meticulously prepared according to royal standards. In the evening, while enjoying the food, you can also watch traditional Thai dance performances~ From 19:40-21:30, you can see three wonderful traditional performances.

Flowing through the heart of Bangkok, the Chao Phraya River is a lifeline that connects the city's past and present. Admire the historic temples and modern skyscrapers that line its banks as traditional longtail boats and modern ferries navigate its waters. As the sun sets, watch as the river transforms into a shimmering ribbon of light, reflecting the vibrant energy of the city.

What is the cheapest way to take a boat in Thailand and enjoy the scenery along the way, of course, by taking the bus series.
This time, I spent 16 yuan (about 3$) to take the Chao Praya Boat bus for 19 stops, passing through scenic spots such as the Zheng Wang Temple and the Grand Palace by the Mekong River. The sunset on the water of the Mekong River is really beautiful and worth experiencing.
The information of the boat route can be directly found on Google Maps. When the ship arrives at the station, the staff will whistle. If unsure, you can confirm with the staff whether you can reach the location you want to go. Be sure to pay attention to the direction of the boat and not sit in the opposite direction, because we accidentally sat in the opposite station and got off the boat to wait again
River transport service in Bangkok
#songkran2024
The Chao Phraya Express Boat is the most used Bangkok river transport service. For me, it is like a bus service on the water. The Chao Phraya Express Boat operates daily in different lines, such as orange line, yellow line, green yellow line, and red line. Different lines with different charges. You can travel to the attractions easily with their boat service.

Going to Chao Phaya River with my boyfriend, eating mookata. So delicious 🤭
Recently in Bangkok, rush to the Chao Phraya River for a stunning sunset view spot!
Recently in Bangkok, you can rush to the newly built photo-taking and viewing platform, which is free!
The scenery is also absolutely beautiful! You can also take photos with people, the Chao Phraya River, and Wat Arun in the same frame, the camera position is excellent!
/
The viewing platform is located directly opposite Wat Arun, next to Wat Pho, just walk straight into the alley, walk to the river, and there are two Thai temple-style pavilions, which are the viewing platforms.
/
Coming here at dusk is really super beautiful!
You can watch the sunset over the Chao Phraya River, as well as Wat Arun lighting up!
Encountering the evening glow, it's even more beautiful!
/
⭕️ 'Photo-taking tips':
Really, even a mobile phone can take great shots!
Pull some telephoto, and you can take great shots with people and Wat Arun in the same frame!
Through some spaces and angles of the pavilion, it also looks great!
/
Besides, another alley on the right side of the viewing platform is also a good camera position.
The entrance of the alley directly faces Wat Arun, and from a distance, it looks magnificent!
/
There are also many viewing cafes and restaurants around, and the window seats with a view are easily filled, so if you want to relax, you might want to go early.
/
⭕️ 'Surrounding attractions':
Next to the viewing platform is Wat Pho, and not far away is the Grand Palace, it is recommended to visit them together.
The Grand Palace—Wat Pho—viewing platform to watch the sunset, the timing is just right.
/
⭕️ 'Transportation strategy':
For transportation, you can take the MRT Blue Line to Sanam Chai Station and then walk to Amorosa, or take a taxi directly to Amorosa, the viewing platform is right next to Amorosa.
Songkran special: water commute on ferry!
#songkran2024
Don’t miss the chance to take the Chao Phraya River ferries during Songkran, there’s even a free one - not only are your fellow tourists fun, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery at sunset and wave to passing boats (who might… soak you with some water). Stops are based on historically significant piers and even if you just float along, it’s a gorgeous ride.
Notable stops to reach other festival and tourist destinations include:
IconSiam, Chinatown, Wat Arun, Asiatique
