💖Overview of attractions
✔️Louis I Bridge: The Louis I Bridge is a steel arch bridge across the Douro River, connecting Portugal's second largest city Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Its name commemorates the then King Louis I. Its 172-meter span ranked first in the world at the time and is now one of Porto's landmark buildings.
✔️Aveiro Canal: Aveiro is known as the "Venice of Portugal", so you can't miss the beauty of the canal when you come to Aveiro. The banks of the winding canal are lined with colorful houses and Art Nouveau buildings. On the water, the Morrisiro boats with local characteristics are paddling leisurely. Time seems to slow down in the picturesque scenery.
✔️Tomar Christian Church: The Catholic church building combines Romanesque, Gothic, Manueline and Renaissance architectural styles. It is one of the most important historical and cultural buildings in Portugal. It was designated by UNESCO in 1983. Listed as a World Heritage Site by the World Cultural Organization.
✔️Jeronimos Monastery: The most prominent monument in Lisbon, it took 100 years to build. The monastery is a perfect combination of Gothic and Renaissance styles. It is called the "treasure" of Manueline architecture by later generations. It is the most gorgeous and majestic monastery in Portugal. The nuns of the convent invented the Portuguese egg tart.
✔️Cintra Pena Palace: Located on the top of a mountain with stunning scenery, it was formerly a monastery. It was converted into a colorful fairy tale castle during the Ferdinand II period, incorporating various elements of Romanticism, Renaissance, Manueline and Moorish styles. The essence of home. The park next to the palace is filled with exotic plants and is a treasure trove of great surprises.
☀️Driving in Portugal is like opening an old book full of stories, each page exudes a charming fragrance. The scenery along the way unfolds like a scroll, from the aroma of Porto's wine to the blue sea and sky of Benagil Beach, to the castles and churches hidden on the top of the mountains, every step is intoxicating. This is not only a visual feast, but also a spiritual baptism.

The charming São Bento Train Station 🇵🇹
The S. Bento railway station, in the city centre of Porto (is a 20th-century railway terminal) is for sure one of the most beautiful train stations in the entire world 🌍. You can find it walls and ceilings covered with 22 thousand tiles (azulejos) by Jorge Colaço (painter, caricaturist and potter).
The circa 22 thousand tiles depict some of the most relevant episodes of Portuguese history, namely King D. João I and D. Filipa de Lencastre, Egas Moniz and Infante D. Henrique in the conquest of Ceuta.
Welcome to this Iconic, Charming and Heritage monument of Oporto City.

The Clerigos is located in Rua de Sao Filipe Nery, 4050-546 Porto, the nearest metro station is Sao Bento Station, which is around 5 minutes and 300 meters walk. It is open daily from 0900-1900.
An 18th century baroque building topped by the nearly 250 foot Clerigos tower with 49 resonate bells inside, offers unrivalled views of the Douro River and Porto's old town. They also house a museum, with artifacts related to the clerics.
The architectural complex of Clerics, considered a National Monument since 1910, is one of the main points of interest for its tower, museum and church. A must see attraction for all those who visit Porto.

#traveltips
❗️⭐️Portuguese food is generally slightly sweet, so you need to be mentally prepared
❗️⭐️The trains in Portugal are very bumpy. If you are motion sick, remember to prepare motion sickness medicine.
❗️⭐️The old towns of Porto and Lisbon have obvious signs of dilapidation, with steep slopes and dim lights after dark. Try to avoid passing through the old town at night to ensure your own safety and to ensure that you have enough energy for a day trip.

Picasso history at church of the clerics
#traveldiaries
I was at Porto traveling and went to the church of the clerics and an entrance fee is required. In the museum there was a small section dedicated to Picasso and it was indeed a very interesting read. Learnt a bit about his history and works and it was quite a nice read and spent quite awhile here in the afternoon. Suggest to come if you’re interested! Entrance fee is also not too expensive and quite reasonably priced.

Porto, Portugal: A City Full of Charm, History, and Flavor
When you think of Portugal, Porto is a city that should be at the top of your travel list. Nestled along the Douro River, Porto is known for its stunning landscapes, historic architecture, and, of course, its world-famous port wine. My recent trip to Porto was nothing short of magical, and I can't wait to share my experiences and tips with fellow travelers.
**Exploring Porto's Historic Heart: Ribeira District**
Start your journey in the Ribeira District, Porto's historic heart and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walking through the narrow, cobbled streets feels like stepping into a postcard. The colorful buildings along the riverbank create a picturesque backdrop that's perfect for photos. Don't forget to stop by the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge, which offers breathtaking views of the city and the Douro River.
**A Taste of Porto: Must-Try Foods**
Porto is a paradise for food lovers. One of the most famous dishes you must try is the *Francesinha*, a hearty sandwich filled with layers of meat, smothered in cheese, and topped with a rich tomato-beer sauce. It's indulgent, filling, and utterly delicious.
For something lighter, head to a local bakery and try a *Pastel de Nata*. While these custard tarts are famous throughout Portugal, Porto's bakeries add their own unique twist, making them a must-try treat.
Of course, no trip to Porto would be complete without sampling the city's namesake wine. Take a tour of the port wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, just across the river from Porto. Here, you can learn about the history of port wine, how it's made, and—most importantly—enjoy a tasting session with stunning views of the city.
**Don't Miss: Livraria Lello and Clérigos Tower**
For book lovers and Harry Potter fans, Livraria Lello is a must-visit. Often cited as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, its stunning wooden interior and grand staircase will leave you in awe. Be sure to get there early to avoid the crowds!
For a panoramic view of Porto, climb the 225 steps of Clérigos Tower. The climb is steep, but the 360-degree view from the top is well worth the effort.
**Final Tips**
Porto is a city best explored on foot, so wear comfortable shoes and take your time to soak in the atmosphere. The locals are incredibly friendly, so don't hesitate to ask for recommendations—they might just lead you to a hidden gem.
Whether you're savoring the local cuisine, exploring the historic districts, or sipping port wine by the river, Porto offers an unforgettable experience that's sure to inspire your wanderlust.

St John’s Festival
St John’s Festival, June 24th, is the grandest festival in Porto. On the evening of the 23rd, which is St John’s Festival Eve, it is just like Christmas and Christmas Eve.
Before checking in, I was notified by email: try to check in before 4 PM, otherwise, after that time, the city will have traffic control. Reluctantly bidding farewell to the manor shrouded in light mist and rain, I hurried to Porto. While secretly delighted to have once again stumbled upon a grand festival, I couldn't help but worry about restaurants closing and not finding good food, just like on the Feast of Corpus Christi in Coimbra. As soon as I stepped out of São Bento train station, the festive atmosphere was palpable. Street vendors lined the streets, selling mostly various snacks, drinks, and plastic hammers. The former replenishes energy, while the latter embodies the spirit of revelry. As a 'self-defense weapon,' getting one for 3 euros was quite necessary. The festive atmosphere ignited the whole city, with explosive music coming from different directions on the streets and from upstairs. Walking on the road, if you are not careful, you might get hit on the head by a plastic hammer swung from who knows where, making the world spin.
At night, Ribeira Quay was crowded with people, either sitting on the ground or dancing to the upbeat music. Some hid in a corner, using 'long-stemmed purple flowers' and fishing techniques to gently brush the purple flowers over passersby. This 'flirting' method is quite creative. At midnight, fireworks burst into the sky on time. Initially, it didn't seem particularly surprising, but the explosive finale was like the earth shaking, refreshing the senses!
⛱️Must-visit attractions: Clerigos Tower, Avenida dos Aliados, São Bento Train Station, Misericórdia Church, Casa do Infante, Ribeira Square, Dom Luís I Bridge
🌄Travel tips: Walk to the above attractions
🏨Accommodation tips: Along the Douro River
💗Other tips: Don't miss the port wine tasting. Taylor's and Granham's wineries are good choices. What could be more pleasant than enjoying the scenery and sipping a few glasses of fine wine from Porto?
The Douro River area around Porto is also worth exploring. I will introduce it in another article next time.

🇵🇹 The iconic Clérigos Tower @ Porto
The Torre dos Clérigos, also known as the Clérigos Tower, is an iconic landmark located in the heart of Porto, Portugal. Standing at 76 meters, the tower is a prominent feature of Porto's skyline. It was designed by the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni and built between 1732 and 1750. The tower is part of the larger complex that includes the Clérigos Church, a magnificent Baroque church, and a museum.
If you're physically fit, you should definitely climb the tower to enjoy panoramic views of the city and the Douro River. You will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Porto and the surrounding areas after climbing the tower's narrow staircase to reach the top.

CLÉRIGOS TOWER 🇵🇹 PORTO💙
Full 360° view on the entire city at the highest point. The tower is 76m tall and you'll have to climb it all by stairs. You get to visit the entire church and all the rooms. The church itself is nice but not as impressive as all other churches in the city. The visit is totally worth it just for the tower, go for it.

Overseas travel Portugal Clérigos Tower and Cathedral
#Overseas travel
The Clérigos Tower and Cathedral, located at the highest point of the Porto hill, is a landmark of Porto. The tower was built in 1754 by Nicola Nasoni, an Italian architect and painter who worked in Portugal for the Clérigos Brotherhood, over a period of 10 years. It was the first Baroque building in Dochi and was the tallest building in Portugal at the time it was built. It is a beautiful Baroque tower that reaches 76m in height. If you climb the 225 spiral stairs, you can see the tiled roofs, spires, the winding Douro River, and even the Port wine farms of Gaia in the distance.
