The DDR Museum in Berlin offers a captivating glimpse into daily life in East Germany during the German Democratic Republic era. Here, you can explore interactive exhibits showcasing aspects of socialist society, from housing and education to leisure and surveillance. It provides a nuanced perspective on Cold War history through personal stories and artifacts.

Really fun experience! We visited after 6 pm because we heard it would be less busy and we're able to buy tickets at the door. There are so many interesting interactive exhibits. So much historical information. Definitely a unique, fascinating peek into what it was like to live in the DDR. I highly recommend visiting the DDR Museum if you have the opportunity. Allow yourself at least 2 hours if you want to thoroughly explore the museum.

No visit would be complete (in our opinion) without visiting the DDR Museum, just to see how things were in socialist Germany … and to make the most of the Berlin Card. There are some interesting bits there but nothing too fancy as you’d expect except, they have a Trabant which you can virtually drive! Yes!
The good thing is that this museum was opened till late and you can visit it in the evening after a busy day out. we visited around 9pm and really enjoyed our visit and would certainly recommend 👌
The Trabant experience was a highlight but there are a lot of other interesting objects and exhibitions to see.
