Su Dongpo did not deceive me; Changzhou is indeed a treasure trove for travel
Changzhou travel punch-in guide is worth a visit.
Having been through poverty and wealth for thirty years, I have never forgotten my state for a single day.
It's hard to believe that the great literary giant Su Dongpo visited Changzhou 14 times,
and Changzhou occupied a significant and vivid part in his life,
Come to Tianning in Changzhou, for a very classic old town Citywalk one-day tour, to unravel the inseparable bond between Su Dongpo and this city.

Qingguo Alley➡️Tianning Temple➡️Hongmei Park➡️Dongpo Park➡️Cuiyuan.

✅Qingguo Alley
A Qingguo Alley, half of Changzhou's history. A traditional Jiangnan style street with a thousand years of history, white walls and grey tiles, small bridges over flowing water, the homes of famous people, museums, time-honored brands, as well as pleasure boats, ancient stages, teahouses, etc., exuding a leisurely Jiangnan charm.
Interestingly, Qingguo Alley has an ancient charm in its first phase and a modern fashion in its second, with many popular bookstores, coffee shops, and other businesses that are very popular with young people, also becoming a must-visit spot for tourists in Changzhou.
⭐️Tour Tips: Super love the street snacks here, such as soup dumplings, tofu soup, tossed noodles, shrimp cakes, plum blossom cakes, candied taro, sesame cakes, green dumplings, and more.
-
✅Tianning Zen Temple
A landmark of Changzhou, founded during the Tang Dynasty's Zhenguan period, it is known as one of the four great Zen monasteries in China, alongside Zhenjiang's Jinshan Temple, Yangzhou's Gaomin Temple, and Ningbo's Tiantong Temple.
⭐️Tour Tips: 7:00-16:30, Tianning Zen Temple is free to visit, Tianning Pagoda requires a ticket of 50 yuan.
-
✅Hongmei Park
Both a city park and a delicate Jiangnan garden, named after the ancient Hongmei Pavilion, it also has historical sites such as the Wenbi Tower.
The Hongmei Park in spring is very beautiful, with cherry blossoms, crabapples, camellias, and other flowers, especially the cherry blossoms, which are not inferior to Kyoto, especially the pure white surrounding the Ban Shan Ting pavilion, making it a great spot for photography.
⭐️Tour Tips: Open all day, free to visit.
-
✅Dongpo Park
A very beautiful Jiangnan garden, with lush woods and unique water and rocks. The Yizhou Pavilion in the park was built by later generations to commemorate Su Dongpo's final years in Changzhou, and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty inscribed the plaque 'Yulou Fengliu' during his visits to the south of the Yangtze River.
⭐️Tour Tips: Free to visit, 6:00-18:00.
-
✅Cuiyuan
A public garden in the classical Jiangnan style, adjacent to the Grand Canal, composed of Guiluyuan, Shiyuan, Luoyuan Caotang, Lingxi Caotang, and Jiyuan, collectively known as 'Cuiyuan', meaning to continue the cultural vein of the five historical sites nearby that were once famous during the Ming and Qing dynasties but have since faded into obscurity.
⭐️Tour Tips: Free to visit.

Changzhou is a livable city
Weekend time, take a stroll in the city, and of course, walking in nature is the most comfortable in spring.
Dongpo Park, Hongmei Park, Tianning Temple, Red House, Qingguo Alley
Take exit 3 of Hongmei Park Station on Metro Line 2, one side is Dongpo Park and the other is Hongmei Park (all free), walk east to visit Dongpo Park first, the less-known park scenery is indeed worth a visit, spend 1-2 hours there, then walk along the road to Hongmei Park, climb the Wenbi Tower first (5 yuan) upon entering, which I haven't climbed since childhood, take a look at the panoramic view of Hongmei Park from the tower, spend about 1 hour to finish the visit, then exit and go to Tianning Temple next door (free admission, 50 yuan to climb the tower), many parts of the temple are currently under renovation, but the Tianning Pagoda in my great Changzhou is truly majestic, and you can get a free stamp with a cup of coffee at the temple's cafe. Not far from Tianning Temple is the Red House, perfect for checking in and taking photos, the Leslie Cheung exhibition is still ongoing, it's nice to take photos outside the fourth-floor library of the Cultural Palace and the Tianning Temple pagoda, and if you have the energy, you can go to Qingguo Alley, where there are many great spots for photos, wandering through the alleys and stumbling upon beauty.
Eat, browse, walk, and stop, once you go out, you will encounter beauty, big love for Dongpo Park!
I'll come back with a different route next time.

Explore the cultural and natural beauty of Changzhou through the ages!
Changzhou, a city filled with awe-inspiring treasures, offers a profound cultural heritage intertwined with stunning natural landscapes, sure to leave a lasting impression. The journey begins in the Tianning District at the Hongmei Park on Yanling Middle Road, Changzhou's largest classical garden and former site of the Tianning Temple. After years of weathering and expansion, it has become a favorite spot for locals to relax and enjoy the scenery. When the plum blossoms are in full bloom, the Hongmei Pavilion is nothing short of poetic, and the Wenbi Tower, built during the Qi and Liang periods of the Southern Dynasties and one of Changzhou's oldest structures, stands majestically with its seven stories, offering a panoramic view of the city from its top.
Next, visit the Baolin Zen Temple at 98 Hongxi Road in the Tianning District. This royal monastery, founded in 527 AD, may be located on the outskirts of the city, but its unique golden pineapple shape and the ancient and solemn architectural complex are captivating, with each brick and tile bearing the weight of history.
Moreover, the Tianning Zen Temple and its Pagoda at 636 Yanling Middle Road in the Tianning District are undoubtedly landmarks of Changzhou. The temple has stood there since the Tang Dynasty's Zhenguan era and is known as the 'Number One Jungle in the Southeast.' The Tianning Pagoda ingeniously integrates the ancient styles of the Tang and Song dynasties, with its 14 stories and alternating design of light and dark layers. The top of the pagoda, with the highest bell and the glittering glazed Buddha statues, is truly breathtaking.
For a taste of local culture, take a stroll to Qingguo Alley at 100 Heping North Road in Tianning Street. This area embodies the rich local culture and artistic atmosphere of Changzhou, with old houses and new blocks reflecting each other. It's a perfect place to appreciate historical relics or capture modern artistic elements.
Don't forget to spend a quiet afternoon at the drip drop coffee shop, admiring the magnificent panorama of the Tianning Zen Temple from its rooftop. Also, don't miss the Changzhou Yinsi Noodle Shop next to the Tianning Zen Temple, where for just 4.5 yuan, you can savor the delicate texture and rich flavor of the authentic Yinsi noodles.
As for the Cultural Square, besides the dazzling modern malls, it's also a great spot for capturing urban landscapes. Although the specifics of the commercial content are not detailed, its presence undoubtedly adds more vitality and color to the journey.

Changzhou Hongmei Park, miss it and you'll have to wait another year!
With the gentle breeze of spring, March has arrived gracefully, and Hongmei Park has also welcomed its most splendid moment! 🎉 The Changzhou Plum Blossom Festival has celebrated its grand opening for the seventeenth time, and for the people of Changzhou, a spring stroll through Hongmei Park has long become one of the most anticipated events of the year! 🌼
Elderly men and women in the park are either dancing gracefully, practicing Tai Chi leisurely, or concentrating on playing chess and cards. There are also many who enjoy tea by the lake, singing, and writing. 👴👵 There are also numerous photography enthusiasts, capturing every wonderful moment with their 'big guns', the leisure and relaxation they exhibit is simply enviable, it makes me want to retire early and enjoy life! 😂
Friends who want to appreciate the plum blossoms, you'd better hurry! This week is the prime time for the plum blossoms to be in full bloom, miss it and you'll have to wait another year! 😱 While the plum blossoms are still in bloom, hurry up and come take photos to keep as memories!
Speaking of taking photos, let me recommend a few of my personal favorite spots for the best shots:
1⃣ Wenbi Tower and Wensi Bridge: With its arching bridges, flowing water, ancient tower, and red plum blossoms, the scenery is picturesque, definitely an excellent spot for photography! 🌉
2⃣ Hongmei Pavilion: A few rare white plum blossoms gather here, contrasting beautifully with the yellow walls, enchantingly beautiful. 🌸
3⃣ Central Lawn: Standing here, you have a wide view and can easily capture the full panorama of the landmark Tianning Temple, definitely adding a sense of depth to your photos! 🏯
4⃣ South Gate Entrance: For those who want to take pictures of tulips, this is your paradise! This year, there are even new varieties of fringed tulips, so beautiful that they're a feast for the eyes! 🌷
Finally, a reminder to everyone, due to the large number of people on weekends, it is not recommended to drive there! It's really hard to find a parking spot! 🚗 It is suggested to take the subway Line 1 to Bo'ai Road Station and walk for ten minutes to get there; or take Line 2 directly to Hongmei Park Station for easy access! 🚇
Come to Changzhou Hongmei Park and experience this beautiful time full of spring! 🌸🌿

The Red Plum Road/Red Plum Park in Changzhou is blooming with red plum blossoms
Changzhou's spring begins with the Red Plum Road and Red Plum Park, where plum blossoms of deep and light red hues vie for beauty on the branches. By the lake and along the roadside, people out enjoying the spring pass by, and as the wind blows, petals fall and cover their heads, creating a beautiful scroll of poetry and scenery with people, flowers, and the landscape.

The misty rain entering the south of the Yangtze River is nothing but a ploy to allure those from the north
'Everyone's photo album hides so many springs.'
🍃Today is March 5th, the day of Jingzhe in the lunar calendar.
After being bright and beautiful for two days, Changzhou welcomes continuous spring rain again.
Damp and drizzly, yet it bursts with vitality.
🍃Rainy days are the best filter in the south of the Yangtze River,
Only after seeing this misty and hazy rain,
Can you truly understand the exquisite verses written by poets.

The plum blossoms in Hongmei Park are just too perfect with the rainy weather
'Everyone's photo album is filled with so many springs.'
'Unintentionally competing for spring, I let all the other flowers be envious.
Crumbled into mud and crushed into dust, the fragrance remains as before.'
It turns out that Hongmei Park on a rainy day is even more photogenic,
The park is packed with people on weekends, so crowded that you can't even squeeze your feet in.
But, but,
Intermittent spring rain has fallen for two days,
With fewer tourists, the plum blossoms are easier to photograph.
This is probably the most correct way to appreciate plum blossoms,
Even the popular photo spots are deserted.
The drizzling rain further highlights the plum blossoms' serene beauty.
📷Photography tips:
🔸Use the water reflection and traditional Chinese architecture
🔸Use a telephoto lens for close-ups and a sense of compressed space
🔸Find a good angle from a low position

Why not visit the neighboring small town CITY WALK when Suzhou is too crowded?
Changzhou, also known as Dragon City, why not take a trip to Dragon City in the Year of the Dragon?
Picture 1-3, Hongmei Park. The number one garden in Changzhou, with cultural relics such as Hongmei Pavilion and Wenbi Tower. It is the season when the red plum blossoms are in full bloom, and you can take as many photos as you like without reservation, no admission fee, and no crowds!
Picture 4-5, Qingguo Alley. The number one alley of scholars in the south of the Yangtze River, this alley of just over 300 meters has produced more than 100 scholars! The preservation of old buildings is also quite good, with old houses and small courtyards. Take a walk and explore the cultural veins of this geomantic treasure.
Picture 6-8, Changzhou Museum. Compared to the Suzhou Museum, the Changzhou Museum is not large in size, and there are not many long-term exhibitions, but there are still many interesting things to see. In the Year of the Dragon, it's also interesting to look for the dragon brick in the Dragon City Museum.
Picture 9-11, when you come to Changzhou, you must visit the Tenghua Old Hall, now also known as the Su Dongpo Memorial Hall, where Su Dongpo spent the last part of his life. The courtyard is small but quaint, with wisteria, plum blossoms, and a Song dynasty well. Spend some quiet time here and reflect on the ups and downs of Su Dongpo's life and his spirit, and you are sure to gain some insight. There is also a large area of old houses near the memorial hall, which you can also visit if you have time.
Picture 12-13, how can you not stroll through the local old communities at citywalk? Hongmei Park in Changzhou, Jiangsu, is known as the "First Garden of Changzhou"
The location of Hongmei Park is excellent, not only located in the bustling city, but also the famous Tianning Temple in the south, and Dongpo Park is only a hundred meters away. When traveling to Changzhou, you might as well take Hongmei Park as the center for a City Walk full of historical and cultural charm.
Hongmei Park, located in the bustling downtown area, can be regarded as an old park in Changzhou, which was first built in 1958 and is a beautiful childhood memory for many old Changzhou people.
The park is very large, overlooking the autumn forest dyed, the green water and the pavilion, a beautiful Jiangnan garden scene, all you feel is refreshing.
The name of the park, Hongmei, comes from this flying eaves and arches, showing the simplicity of the Hongmei Pavilion. The pavilion was built in the year of Tang Zhaozong, and it has been more than 1100 years since now. The stone arch in front of the pavilion is written with the four big characters "Tianqu Yao Road", the arch pillar is mottled and shows the vicissitudes of life, showing the long time.
The yellow wall and gray tile Jiaxian Square is built to commemorate the founder of Changzhou ancient city, the representative of Confucianism in the Spring and Autumn Period, Ji Zha, who traveled around the country, advocated rites and music, promoted Confucian thought, and was a saint who was as famous as Confucius, known as "South Ji North Kong".
Walking in the park, all you see is exquisite Jiangnan architecture and beautiful natural scenery. Many landscapes have a deep historical background, which makes them more quiet and elegant, full of ancient style.
Walking along the corridor, it seems that time has slowed down. The arches and carved windows are like picture frames, and a casual glance frames a beautiful painting that is naturally formed.
In addition to the Wenbi Tower and Hongmei Pavilion, which have a history of thousands of years, there are also many cultural landscapes in the park, such as Banshan Pavilion, Jiasa Tower, Bingmei Stone, Ta Ying Shanfang, Wenbi Building, etc. If you like exhibition halls, don't miss the Tu Yidao Root Art Collection Hall and Changzhou Comb Museum, Hongmei Strange Stone Museum, these exhibition halls are small but quite professional.
It has passed the Lidong solar term, and the park is still a deep autumn scene. Although the trees are not as green and lush as spring, they are still lush and colorful. The pavilions, curved pools and arch bridges are dotted among them. The Hongmei Pavilion is still there, and the Wenbi Tower is towering, presenting in front of people is still the poetic Jiangnan a thousand years ago.

Hongmei Park|Changle State, a comfortable and cozy place to go
If the most earthly place is the vegetable market, then the park must be the place full of happiness!
After breakfast, take a walk in Hongmei Park. The park not only has the beautiful scenery of yellowing autumn leaves, but also grandpas and grandmas playing various musical instruments, babies learning to talk and walk, and young men and women exercising in the morning... I met an old man in the park square who uses water as ink to write. He told me that he comes to practice calligraphy every morning, which can both exercise and cultivate sentiment. When I came, it was not the season when the red plum blossoms. When the red plum blossoms in February and March, I will come again for a date with the red plum!
After visiting the park, find a Changzhou restaurant for lunch. We had lunch at Tangqiao Lao Ge, a Changzhou restaurant with many chain stores. This time I didn't go to Tianmu Mountain, but I can't miss the fish head of Tianmu Lake. The braised fish head is tender and sweet. The net oil roll and Changzhou's first dish are also delicious😋, after eating, have a cup of Changzhou old yogurt, it's a perfect meal.
I especially like slow travel, with beautiful scenery and food, adding color to life and soothing the soul.
Sophia.Clark^16
The rainy days in Jiangsu continued, and in one fell swoop, the record of the same period in 1961, the heart of a spring tour has long been unable to hold back. I even prepared the JW PACK, which is windproof and waterproof, and took the intermittent rain. The beauty around Changzhou went up and went to Changzhous old Hongmei Park as the most famous city park in the area. Visitors here. It is still a lot, and it is free to visitors and citizens. I look forward to a sunny weather and go further afield.
