The upcoming adventure is a spring day on Mount Hua in March | Climbing to the top to enjoy the flowers
Because it is a team-building trip, we chose the popular route 'West up, North down' + cable car buff
For those who exercise regularly, this route is quite relaxing, feeling like it's just a warm-up before it's over, and the rest is mostly downhill, which is not knee-friendly.
For those who are not used to exercising, it can still be tiring, and we encountered guys cramping their legs on the way down the mountain
Mount Hua is known for its steepness, and taking the cable car up the West Peak is really thrilling. The moment the mountain structure gradually comes into view as the cable car ascends is stunning, but those who are afraid of heights might be scared.
The 🌲 Chinese pines, Mount Hua pines, and peach blossoms 🌸 on the mountain peaks create a picturesque scene, and there is still some unmelted snow on the mountain. The spring breeze is so comfortable, and it's amazing to walk and admire the view along the way, it would be even more breathtaking if there were a sea of clouds
The overall route is well-established, and as long as you don't climb over the barriers and hold onto the chains properly, it's generally safe
Finally, I picked up two pine cones on the mountain as souvenirs from Mount Hua~🥳
🌸Suggestions:
1. For those who exercise less and have poor physical strength, it is recommended to take the 'West up, North down' route + cable car. After the South Peak, it's all downhill stairs, try to bring knee pads to reduce pressure
2. For those who exercise regularly and enjoy hiking, it is recommended to go 'North up, West down'. The climbing process is more enjoyable, and it's actually more knee-friendly for those with bad knees
3. The weather was clear on the day of the hike, and it was not cold on the mountain. A quick-dry shirt + a softshell jacket/thin coat for spring and autumn is enough. You can check the weather of Mount Hua on the official account 'Mount Hua Tourism Service Platform'
4. Pay attention to sun protection, as some sections are unshaded and can be quite sunny
5. You need to bring gloves 🧤, a backpack, soft-soled non-slip hiking shoes, a power bank, and an adequate amount of food and water. There are several supply points on the mountain, and I think the prices are reasonable
6. You can bring some cat food, as there are many clingy cats on Mount Hua 🤤
7. Souvenirs on the mountain get cheaper the further down you go. Tourists from other places should never buy swords 🗡, as they are not even allowed in checked baggage on planes.
8. Don't walk and take photos at the same time, take photos without walking, and don't do dangerous actions just for the sake of taking pictures. Be sure to give way to pedestrians️

The world's first cable car to use a cliffside station and undulating route.
The Huashan West Peak Cable Car, also known as the Taihua Cable Car, is the world's first single-line circulating detachable cable car to use a cliffside station, undulating route, and intermediate station. The cable car line is 4,211 meters long with a relative height difference of 894 meters. It has 28 brackets and 84 passenger cabins, each of which can carry 8 people. The maximum operating speed is 6 meters per second, and the one-way capacity is 1,500 people per hour. Since it was put into operation in April 2013, it has become an important way for tourists to enjoy the scenery of Huashan, providing multiple services such as safety, convenience, sightseeing, and experience, and has received more than 18 million tourists in total. The construction and operation of the cable car not only improved the tourism experience of Huashan, but also had a positive impact on the local economic development and cultural tourism industry.

A detailed one-day tour of Mount Hua
Here is a one-day tour guide for Mount Hua, allowing you to experience the breathtaking beauty and danger of Mount Hua in one day:
I. Preparation
• Documents: Bring your ID card. Tourists who purchase discounted tickets such as student tickets should also bring their student ID.
• Equipment: Comfortable sports shoes, preferably non-slip hiking shoes; a lightweight backpack; appropriate clothing according to the weather, such as sunscreen on sunny days, and a light jacket for the cooler mountain top; gloves (many places require climbing with both hands and feet, gloves can protect your hands); hat; sunglasses; a moderate amount of water and food, such as bread, chocolate, beef jerky, etc., to replenish energy, but be careful not to carry too much weight, as there are also selling points on the mountain.
• Other items: Power bank, data cable, camera, etc.
II. Transportation
• High-speed rail: Depart from Xi'an, take the high-speed rail to Huashan North Station, and after exiting the station, there are several options to reach the Mount Hua scenic area. One option is to take a taxi to the visitor center, which usually costs around 15 yuan; another option is to take the free tourist bus opposite the train station, but the route may be slightly circuitous.
• Self-driving: Navigate directly to the Mount Hua Visitor Center (cable car entrance) or Yuquan Courtyard (hiking entrance).
III. Ticket Information
• Scenic area tickets: Peak season (March 1 to November 30) 160 yuan/person, off-season (December 1 to the end of February) 100 yuan/person.
• Cable car fees: North Peak cable car peak season 80 yuan/person, off-season 45 yuan/person; West Peak cable car peak season 140 yuan/person, off-season 120 yuan/person. Additionally, the bus from West Peak cable car to the visitor center is 40 yuan/person.
IV. Tour Route (Recommended West Up, North Down)
• Morning
• Arrive at the Mount Hua scenic area as early as possible. After collecting your tickets at the visitor center, take the shuttle bus to the West Peak cable car station. It is recommended to arrive at the scenic area around 7 am to have more time for sightseeing.
• Take the West Peak cable car up the mountain (the cable car ride takes about 15 minutes) and enjoy the magnificent scenery along the way.
• Morning
• After reaching West Peak, check in at the top of West Peak and admire the beautiful scenery of Lotus Peak. Here you will find the famous "Mount Hua Sword Debate" monument.
• From West Peak, head to South Peak, which takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. South Peak is the highest peak of Mount Hua, with an altitude of 2154.9 meters. At South Peak, you can experience the Chang Kong Plank Road (if open and not too crowded), which is thrilling and exciting.
• Noon
• Rest for a while near South Peak and replenish your energy. You can eat some of the food you brought.
• Afternoon
• Head to East Peak, passing by the "Eagle Turning Over" spot (if interested, you can experience it, but be careful and prepare cash for tickets).
• After reaching East Peak, enjoy the scenery. This is also a popular spot for night climbing to watch the sunrise.
• Then head to Middle Peak. Middle Peak is relatively small, so the tour time is shorter.
• Evening
• From Middle Peak, head to North Peak. This section is mostly downhill, but there are some steep places where you need to be careful. The journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours.
• After reaching North Peak, you can once again enjoy the beautiful scenery of North Peak. Here you will also find the "Mount Hua Sword Debate" monument and other attractions.
• Then take the North Peak cable car down the mountain and take the shuttle bus back to the visitor center.
V. Precautions
• Check the weather forecast in advance and choose suitable weather for your trip. The mountain roads are slippery and dangerous on rainy days, so it is not recommended to go.
• Mount Hua is steep, so be sure to pay attention to safety during the tour. Follow the scenic area regulations and do not leave the designated tour routes. When passing steep sections such as Canglong Ridge, Qianchi Zhuang, and Baichi Gorge, hold onto the iron chains and walk carefully.
• Arrange your time reasonably and pay attention to the operating hours of the cable car and the scenic area to avoid missing the last bus. The cable car operates from 7:00 to 19:00, and the scenic area cable car entrance ticket check time is from 7:00 to 16:00. Hiking entrance (Mount Hua Gate) is open 24 hours, but night climbing requires attention to safety.
• If you have limited physical strength or are not confident in your physical condition, you can choose to take the cable car up and down the mountain. It is not recommended to force yourself to hike.
• The prices on the mountain are relatively high. You can bring some food and water, but also pay attention to reducing the load.
• Respect the natural environment, do not litter, and keep the scenic area clean.

Mount Huashan - traffic jam mountain
Mount Huashan is famous as one of the most dangerous mountains to hike, and is well known for its plank walk.
We entered the mountains through the west peak, and it was definitely one of the highlights of the day. The cable car goes so high, it's impressive. the views you experience during the 20 minutes ride are breathtaking. Once we arrived, we started to walk directly to the south peak hoping to escape the crowds, to no avail. It definitely gets worse once you arrive at the plank road. We wanted to experience it but gave up as we were informed that the waiting time would be at least 6 hours. We went on to another spot and queued for another activity. After lining up for an hour, we also gave up as the waiting time was of 2 hours at the very least. Although we couldn't experience the adventurous activities, we definitely enjoyed our time here.
If we had to go back, we would sleep one day there or in the city and take the first bus/cable car at the opening, in order to avoid the crowds.
Getting back to the train station was a bit complicated. We found the bus stop for the free shuttle on one of the street exciting the roundabout at the entrance (all other buses were going to Xi'an).
Tips for travellers:
⭐ arrive as early as possible
⭐ if you don't want to go up most of the time, then enter from the West Peak.
⭐ avoid weekends as you'll spend your time waiting to go up and down the stairs, which can get frustrating.
⭐ buy anti-slippery gloves prior

Mount Hua: A Perfect Combination of Challenge and Scenery
Mount Hua, historically known as the place 'with only one path', is renowned for its steepness compared to the other four great mountains of China, with a difficulty level that is truly top-notch. Although my knees showed their fragility in the face of the challenge, aching as I descended and forcing me to stop at the five peaks with regret, every step was filled with excitement and awe.
✈/🚅 Travel Tips:
Depart from Beijing West Station and take train Z19 directly to Xi'an Station, then transfer to Metro Line 4 to Xi'an North Station, and finally take train G672 to Huashan North Station. Upon exiting the station, there is a bus stop on the left hand side; for just 5 yuan and a 10-minute ride, you can reach the tourist center and begin your Mount Hua journey!
🎫 Ticket Information:
Mount Hua Scenic Area currently offers free admission (hiking requires reservation), but fees for the cable car and shuttle bus still apply. The West Peak cable car costs 120 yuan one-way, and the North Peak cable car costs 45 yuan one-way; the West Peak shuttle bus costs 40 yuan one-way, and the North Peak shuttle bus costs 20 yuan one-way.
🗺 Recommended Tour Routes:
Take the West Peak cable car up and the North Peak cable car down: The easiest route, suitable for first-time visitors to Mount Hua.
Take the North Peak cable car up and the West Peak cable car down: More uphill walking, testing your stamina and strength.
Hike from Yuquan Courtyard: The most difficult, but also the most challenging route, suitable for hiking enthusiasts.
Don't forget to try the thrilling experiences of the Plank Walk and the Turn of the Sparrowhawk; although you may need to queue, they are definitely worth the wait!
🌟 Exploring the Five Peaks:
West Peak: Excellent cable car experience, reaching the summit in just a few minutes.
South Peak: The summit of Mount Hua, limited space but bustling with crowds.
East Peak: The perfect place to climb at night and watch the sunrise.
Central Peak: Relatively low-key, less visited, and more serene.
North Peak: Conclude the journey of the first four peaks, welcoming the final long downhill challenge.
⚠ Travel Tips:
Essentials for hikers: trekking poles, gloves, water, food, flashlight or headlamp.
Choose the right route according to your physical condition; if you can't keep up, there are accommodations available on the mountain.
It takes about an hour and a half to get from the scenic area to the West Peak by cable car; be patient, and the beautiful scenery will soon be presented.
The dangers of Mount Hua are everywhere, especially when descending, so be very careful.
The Plank Walk and Turn of the Sparrowhawk are very popular, so it's recommended to start early to avoid missing out.
Strongly recommended: A trip to Mount Hua is not only a challenge for the body but also a purification for the soul. Whether you are an adventurer seeking thrills, a photography enthusiast who loves nature, or simply a traveler wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Mount Hua can satisfy you.
