The Hwagyesa temple (of the Chogye Order) is located at the base of the Samgaksan Mountain, at Samgaksan Woods, in the northern part of Seoul. This is an internationally recognized temple as many Zen masters from around the world visit it during the year, but also, thanks to it’s beautiful scenery it attracts locals and tourists as well. Tip: you can do a Temple Stay here.

wish with a view ⛰️
one, two, three... make a wish ✨️
This 2024, I would like to visit again Hwagyesa temple. Seoul (and all of Korea actually) is full of temple 🛕 my favourite part is that you feel a little bit of nature within the city or sometimes you can find a beautiful temple in the middle of nowhere.
Hwagyesa temple is at the bottom of the biggest mountain of Seoul, Bukhansan ⛰️ !
if you want to visit, you need to take the subway on the yellow line (🟡) and stop at Hwagye. it's about 20 minutes from Dongdaemun.
💡 tip: if you're hungry on your way back, walk a little more to Suyu station (light blue line 💠) this neighbourhood might be seen as an "old" one but it has everything you want to eat around !
