Noboribetsu Jigokudani in Winter
The crater formed by volcanic activity looks like 'Hell where demons live,' hence the name Jigokudani (Hell Valley). It's a rare sight where the demon at the entrance is covered in snow, but there is no snow at the bottom of the valley, while the mountains are snow-covered. When it snows, the town turns completely white in an instant, so make sure to prepare for the snow with boots and coats before enjoying the snowy Noboribetsu Onsen.

Best Onsen at Jigokudani Hell Valley
We too JR train at 4.06pm from Sapporo to continue our journey to Hell Valley on 26th Dec 2022. There is a bus service in between Hell Valley and Noboribetsu JR Stn which takes around 20mins.
Checked-in Takimoto Inn Hotel. It cost us around SGD150 per night. The main purpose to book this hotel is to enjoy their onsen both indoor and outdoor. There is an additional 300 yen fee for using their onsen. It was a unique experience in taking onsen. ☺️And yes, it was really relaxing.
This is a quiet town and there is a few souvenir shops and restaurants that still open until 8pm.
The next day, we walked around Hell Valley and enjoyed the last onsen in the hotel. I really like my hotel stay and enjoyed the onsen as well as the morning walk around the Jigokudani Hell Valley. I think I will come back again!#Jigokudani #Hell valley #noboribetsu

Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley)
Getting There - Bought a Noboribetsu Area pass and just take a JR train there. There’s direct bus to take you there from the station.
Quite a breathtaking sight at Jigokudani and I feel like it’s a must to visit when you’re in Hokkaido. However, please take note that it’s quite dangerous to visit during winter as the slopes are slippery. Do not recommend to bring along elderly during winter. There’s also some restaurant and a bear park nearby for you to visit after visiting Jigokudani. 👍🏻

Jigokudani or Hell Valley at Noboribetsu
This is for me a must go place if you like hiking and exploring a big park. A lot of walking is required and there are many trails to explore . Steam coming out from every place and during winter a hot and cold weather at the same time , syok.
Very insightful view of Oyunuma, a sulfurous pond with a surface temperature of 50 degrees Celsius and a smaller, even hotter, mud pond nearby. No , can’t go down there .
Oyunumagawa. With steam seeing, the river flows through the forest, wonderful sight. It is possible to follow the river for several hundred meters and enjoy a natural foot bath (ashiyu) along the way.#bucketlistreboot #MustDo

Speaking of "Hell", the thought may be horrible. In fact, this is a crater relic. In the winter, it is black, white and gray. It looks a bit bleak. But definitely worth walking in person.

[Hokkaido must punch card - Hell Valley with Danxia landform]
At first glance, I thought it was the Danxia landform. I thought it was a Tibetan area, but when I looked carefully, I found that it was totally different. Most of the area there is not a lot of grass, if you can smell some sulphur smell on the spot.
This is the Hell Valley of Noboribetsu. Don't miss this place in Hokkaido. Visiting the Hell Valley during the day and soaking up the sulphur hot springs at the Spa Hotel in the evening is a very special experience.
This is actually a strange landform formed by the eruption of the volcano. Now you can still see the natural sulfur hot spring in the river. Going deep into Hell Valley, you can walk to a special open-air bathing place. If you don't live in a hot spring hotel, you may be in the mountains.

Hell Valley is truly worthy of the name, so nature is the most powerful workmanship, as if the master paintings are generally far from the atmosphere of hell. Walking along the boardwalk to the center of the scenic spot, I smelled a sulphur smell from the air. The hot air of the smoke rushed out from the ground. It is actually a crater. It can be seen that the surrounding stones are eroded into A variety of colors, really is not like the human scene.
Transportation: Take the bus from the gate of the No. 2 JR station to the Noboribetsu hot spring town for about 20 minutes. In addition to the traditional ticket vending machine, you can now buy the ticket on the WeChat scan code, great!

There is a Hell Valley in Hokkaido, Japan. The valley is full of grass and white smoke, and there is a strong and pungent smell of sulphur. It is like a mysterious and strange scene in hell. In fact, this is the remains of the crater at the time of the volcanic eruption 10,000 years ago. There are still many springs that have been boiling all the year round. The unique volcanic landscape makes the entire valley filled with a chilling atmosphere. Although it is like hell in the valley, the spring water flowing out is a hot spring with special curative effect. It is the largest hot spring source in Noboribetsu and one of the rare hot springs in the world. According to the different springs, the water quality of the hot springs is different. There are many varieties and there are department stores in the hot springs. This is also a popular highlight of the Noboribetsu hot springs.
The local culture of hell is the ultimate. There are all kinds of ghost statues everywhere in the streets and alleys. Occasionally there are also , , and even a street called Ghost Street. Hell ghosts and themed gift shops, izakaya, etc., even souvenirs, and even the men's and women's logos in the bathroom are ghost-themed, especially interesting.

The autumn colors of Noboribetsu Jigokudani
You can enjoy the full autumn scenery with mountains covered in red, orange, and yellow leaves. When the blue sky and white clouds appear, it's beautiful. Take a walk from Jigokudani to Oyunuma Pond around noon, as there aren't many people on the trail, allowing you to quietly appreciate the autumn colors and breathe in the fresh air. Afterwards, you can return to a nearby hot spring hotel to rest and have dinner. After a short break, you can visit Jigokudani again at night to see the night view. Perfect.

Explore the mysterious Noboribetsu Hell Valley.
The Noboribetsu Hell Valley is located in the northeast corner of the Noboribetsu Onsen area in Hokkaido. It is a spectacular volcanic crater with a diameter of about 450 meters, created by the eruption of Mount Hiyori. The valley is full of countless vents, constantly erupting hot gases and hot springs. This desolate and mysterious scene is reminiscent of hell, hence the name "Hell Valley".
Hell Valley attracts many tourists with its unique landscape. There is a trail in the valley. Tourists only need 10 to 15 minutes to easily complete a tour around the valley. At night, there is a "Ghost Fire Road" lighting installation, allowing tourists to stroll in a dreamlike atmosphere. In addition, there is a trail leading to Oyunuma, which allows tourists to further appreciate the vastness and magnificence of nature.
The origin of Noboribetsu Hell Valley can be traced back to volcanic activities about 15,000 years ago, and the steam eruption that occurred about 8,000 years ago created the wonders of Oyunuma and Hell Valley. The most recent eruption occurred about 200 years ago.
With its unique landscape and geological value, Noboribetsu Hell Valley has won the "Top 100 Fragrance Scenery", "Hokkaido Heritage", and "Top 100 Japanese Red Leaf Scenic Spots" and other honors. At the same time, it is also listed as one of the "Recommended National Forests of Beautiful Japan", attracting tourists from home and abroad to come and see its style.
Noboribetsu Onsen, located in Noboribetsu City, Hokkaido, has been famous since the Edo period. In the Meiji era, hot spring hotels sprung up like bamboo shoots after a rain, making the area a rapidly rising resort for recuperation and tourism. Today, Noboribetsu Onsen has always been among the top in the "Top 100 Japanese Hot Springs·Comprehensive Ranking" and is a famous hot spring resort in Japan. Its name comes from the Ainu language, meaning a river with rich water color.
Noboribetsu Onsen is known for its daily natural outflow of about 10,000 tons and 9 types of spring quality of about 3,000 liters per minute. It is known as the "department store of hot springs" and provides tourists with a rich and diverse hot spring experience. Hell Valley, as the main source of Noboribetsu Onsen, its abundant hot spring water nourishes the entire hot spring area, allowing tourists to enjoy the nourishment and comfort of the hot springs.

Scorching Experience at Jigokudani Observation Deck
#japantrip
My visit to Jigokudani was a thrilling experience! The moment I stepped onto the observation deck, I felt like I was gazing into the depths of hell. The sulfurous steam vents and boiling mud ponds created a surreal landscape, like something out of a fantasy novel. The observation deck offered a thrilling view of the volcanic activity below, with steam and gas billowing up from the earth. The sheer force of nature was awe-inspiring, and I felt tiny in comparison. The deck's unique design and safety features made for a comfortable and secure viewing experience. If you're ready for a taste of hell on earth, Jigokudani Observation Deck is a must-visit!

Jigokudani (Hell Valley)
#japantrip Breathtaking scenery with easy trails. it was not very busy for an afternoon weekday. The footpath can seem a little far but it is worth it! The river stones were a beautiful color. It’s a nice tourist attraction. Has a bit of foul smell but it’s from the sulfur, don’t stay too long in one spot but definitely come! It’s nice 🥰 it’s free though! And you can also go for a nice walk to a nearby lake!

Hokkaido | A winter ski/hot spring invitation
Winter, December to February, is the best season for skiing and hot springs♨ in Hokkaido. Landing in Sapporo from 🛬New Chitose Airport, you are invited to a Hokkaido rendezvous.
🗓Recommended itinerary:
First route: Skiing⛷ route, centered around Sapporo, soaking in the resort and ski slopes. Sapporo Teine Ski Resort, the closest to Sapporo. Niseko Higashiyama Ski Resort, with excellent snow quality and slopes. Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU Ski Resort has quality powder snow, and the resort itself is also worth exploring, of course, the price is also beautiful.
Second route: Hot springs♨ route, Sapporo-Otaru-Noboribetsu. Entering Noboribetsu Hell Valley, you can smell and see the natural sulfur hot springs. Different from domestic ones, the hot springs here are separated by gender, and bathing is done naked.
Third route: Snow viewing❄ route, Sapporo-Furano-Biei-Asahikawa. In winter, the trees in Biei sing a lonely song, while the penguins🐧 in Asahikawa perform a joyful symphony.
✈️How to buy discount tickets:
Domestic flights can take off or transfer from Shandong. Shandong Airlines to Japan is considered a budget airline, and sometimes round-trip tickets are less than a thousand.
🏨How to choose accommodation:
For skiing⛷, stay directly at the ski resort, and you can stock up in advance during major OTA promotions, especially at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU Ski Resort.
For hot springs♨, Otaru can be a day trip, and Noboribetsu is recommended for Dai-ichi Takimotokan, a more established hot spring hotel, with tatami rooms, including dinner buffet, room service, and hot springs.

“Hell Valley” 🌋🌋
Jidokudani aka Hell Valley at Noboribetsu is one of my favourite attraction in Hokkaido! The view is absolutely phenomenal, this place is full of hot steam when you walk along the way, it’s the main source of Noboribetsu’s hot spring water.
There are a few walking tails here, but I only managed to walk along the wooded bridge, it was about 10-15 mins walk to see the mini onsen at the end. You can also choose to walk up to the natural foot spa, it is further up and we didn’t have time to go, but will definitely go back again!
I came during winter and it was so beautiful, I also came during sunset and I must say it’s the perfect time to visit :) I highly recommend this place if you’re travelling to Hokkaido!

Jigokudani aka hell valley
#thingstodoJigokudani aka hell valley. Free to view. An interesting spot to have a feel of volcanic activities beneath. Nice photo spot as well 👍
Walking 5min walk from hotel dai-ichi.
I personally liked the view and the smoke a lot. Of course there is a smell that comes with it, but it's bearable.
There is also a river nearby where you can have a footbath and the demon statues are also nice.
There's a lot of hotels with Onsen in it
At night there is light which shines onto the valley. It's also nice but looks more in the photos than it actually is

Hell Valley | The scorching place where deer appear
When traveling in Hokkaido, Japan, you must have a good eye. Always complaining about 'where are the animals', under the guidance of local tourists, I found a doe 🦌, strolling in the Noboribetsu Hell Valley, not afraid of the dense steam that occasionally emerges from the ground .

Noboribetsu Hell Valley | The mysterious and magical first hot spring town in Hokkaido
♨️Noboribetsu Hell Valley is the source of Noboribetsu Onsen Town being rated as the first hot spring in Hokkaido. The hot spring basin of Hell Valley is distributed with many hotels from the top to the bottom of the terrain, and the hotels also take hot springs as an important project. Every hotel is within walking distance to Hell Valley Scenic Area.
⛰️Following the signs along the road, you will arrive at the scenic area, which is free (most scenic areas in Japan are free). Because it is a volcanic valley, you are already on the top of the mountain when you enter the scenic area. The mountain is emitting white nitrous smoke, which is a rare sight. Overlooking the bottom of the valley, you can see a narrow plank road on the top of the mountain, called 'Ghost Fire Road', leading straight to the bottom of the valley. We chose to go down. As we got closer to the bottom of the valley, the temperature got higher and higher, and the body felt hotter and hotter. There is no grass at the bottom of the valley, and the gray-blue hot spring water is gushing out, which makes people marvel at the wonders of nature. This kind of zero-distance direct feeling is really rare.
❤️Experience: In the journey of Hokkaido, hot springs are one of the must-experience projects. Almost all hotels in the hot spring town have soup pools. The ranking of Noboribetsu hot springs is well-deserved. The hot spring water is gray, with a strong sulfur smell, and the body is very smooth when soaked in it. Because Japanese hot springs are naked, you can't bring your phone in, so there will be no photos. From knowing hot springs in Hell Valley to finally enjoying in this gift of nature, this experience is rare and unforgettable...

In winter, go to Noboribetsu, Hokkaido ❄️ to see the snow and soak in hot springs ♨️.
Perhaps it's a magical fate.
Last year at this time, I was also soaking in hot springs and watching the snow in Noboribetsu.
Noboribetsu represents the hot spring town of Hokkaido, and the largest source of hot springs here is the Jigokudani of Noboribetsu.
Hell's Valley is a crater with a diameter of 450 meters, shrouded in smoke and emitting the smell of sulfur all year round. Walking around the valley gives you a feeling of shopping in hell...
The hot spring here has a daily output of up to 10,000 tons, and because it has a variety of rare spring qualities, it is also considered rare worldwide.
Next to Hell's Valley, it's only a 400-meter walk to the First Waterfall Main Hall!
I'm staying here today, which is also a super ancient hotel on the street of Noboribetsu Onsen, with a history of 164 years.
The buffet is very rich, and the hot springs are amazing, amazing, amazing! After soaking, my shoulders, which were originally creaking, completely recovered! There is also a big golden stick hidden with many mechanisms in the lobby, which performs the story of Momotaro fighting demons on the hour - very interesting!
The Selu Observatory near Noboribetsu is also highly recommended for everyone to visit.
This is an observation deck where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Toya. Today, I happened to encounter a snowstorm on a sunny day, which was very romantic! I also saw white birch trees and Mount Yotei, and together with my friends, we left a trail of footprints on the pink snow. Oh, I feel like my winter is complete!
