A 2017 study suggests that Kuldhara and other neighbouring villages were abandoned because of an earthquake. This village was once inhibited by the wealthiest Brahmins of North India. People who migrated from Kuldhara have settled in different parts of India but the majority of people are living in Sirmaur of Himachal Pradesh.
