Vientiane, Laos | This is Vientiane on the tip of your tongue
For this trip to Laos, we prepared a lot of medicines, especially gastrointestinal medicines, for fear of getting a stomach upset in Laos. In the end, no medicine was needed, which shows that our food is suitable for Laotian cuisine and that the food hygiene in Laos is acceptable. I ate at several restaurants in Vientiane and now I recommend them to everyone!
1. Kong View P2-P5
As soon as I landed in Vientiane, I came to this restaurant for dinner. The night view of the Mekong River and the Laotian flavor made me fall in love with this riverside Laotian cuisine! The open-air seats face the rippling Mekong River, the evening breeze blows in the twilight, and the lazy singing of Southeast Asian tunes can be heard in your ears, creating a perfect atmosphere.
Each dish was layered with fresh spices! It is fully booked every night so it is recommended to book in advance, with window seats being the best for viewing.
Recommended: Grilled chicken, steak
2. La Cage du Coq Restaurant P7-P10
Laos was once colonized by France, so there are many traces left over. Here you can find the cheapest authentic French food in Asia, a paradise for French food with a great value for money!
This is a French-style building located in a small alley very close to Foreigner Street, opened by a Frenchman.
I ordered a confit duck leg and was shocked when it arrived!
The plate was as big as a wash basin! The portion size is huge!
It tastes great! !
Much better than what I had in France! !
The key is that it's only $9, the portion is big so don't order more
Menu in English and French, slow service, cash only
Recommended: Confit duck leg (French classic)
3. Khop Chai Deu P11-P13
This restaurant is the number one Laotian restaurant on the local food hot list, and the name means "thank you" in Chinese.
The restaurant has two floors, upstairs and downstairs, and you can dine on the open-air balcony or indoors. I met a lot of locals and Europeans and Americans, and business was pretty good.
It is not far from Mekong Night Market and Black Pagoda.
Recommended: Pork spring rolls, mango sticky rice
4. Pinzhen, Chinese restaurant at Wanda Vista Hotel, Lhasa, P14-P18
This Chinese restaurant is a relatively good recommendation in Vientiane. The Cantonese, Sichuan and Hunan cuisines are all very authentic. It is said that the chefs and ingredients are all from mainland China. The environment and service are very good!
Recommendation: Basically, just keep your eyes open and decide how much you want to spend.
