#indonesiatrip Went with tour group! Our guides were so good. Please do not underestimate the hike as the summit attack is vertically challenging. Proper hiking shoes + sand gaiters will make your journey much manageable. You will be able to witness the starry skies at base camp, the night before your summit attack. Mount Rinjani has a crater with a width of about 10 km and there is a crater lake called Lake Segara Anak with a depth of about 230 m. With its blue water color like a child of the ocean, the water flowing from this lake forms a very beautiful waterfall and flows through a steep ravine. Many climbers fish in this lake because there are many carp and tilapia. There are 2 hiking trails to reach the peak of Rinjani, namely the Sembalun Trail and the Senaru Trail. The Sembalun Trail is a favorite trail for climbers because even though the track is longer, it can save 700 m of altitude. On the Sembalun Trail, climbers will pass through a very wide and beautiful expanse of savanna. There are 3 rest posts on this trail, and after post 3 climbers will face a steep climb with a gradient of about 60 degrees. While on the Senaru Trail, climbers will pass through a fairly dense and steep tropical forest. Similar to the Sembalun Trail, this trail also has 3 rest posts before arriving at the Pelawangan post which is usually used as a camping area. The charm of Mount Rinjani is almost perfect so there is no doubt that Rinjani is an attraction that can captivate the interest of foreign and domestic tourists to climb it. And climbing Mount Rinjani will certainly be an unforgettable memory and life experience.

Really the only downsides are watching the porters heroically carrying 30+kg loads on wooden planks in their shoulders while making sub-minimum wages and the sheer amount of rubbish and toilet paper left behind by visitors. Please bring warm clothes and your sleeping bag to the summit, pack out your trash and tip your guide and porters generously (they deserve it!)

3D2N hike to the summit of Mount Rinjani

"Nothing worth it comes easy" - this phrase truly describes my 3D2N hike in Mount Rinjani Mount Rinjani is an active volcano on the island of Lombok, Indonesia. It is 3,726m, making it the 2nd highest volcano in Indonesia. A full trek around Mount Rinjani takes 3 days. Shorter tours are available but with limited coverage of this beautiful mountain. My route for the 3 days tour: Sembalun village -> crater rim -> summit at 7am on Day 2 -> lake and hot springs -> rest for the night -> crater rim -> Senaru village. It was an arduous climb to the summit as the path is full of gravel and stones. With every 2 steps forward, I slid 1 step back. Freaking intense climb at 5+am to reach the summit in time for sunrise. Hiking poles and good hiking boots are absolutely necessary for the summit hike. The tour package includes simple meals, tents and sleeping bag, porter, trekking guide, transport to the start point of the hike, and entrance fee to the national park. #hike #lombok #indonesia #view #volcano #naturewonders #createwithtrip
