Chiang Mai Yi Peng Festival

The Chiang Mai Yi Peng Festival is my favorite Thai festival, bar none. The ancient city is adorned with lanterns everywhere, and there are activities all around the old town. Each temple hosts various events, and during the festival, temples that usually require tickets are open to all visitors for free. You can enjoy the lanterns, make wishes, and release floating lanterns and sky lanterns, which is a lot of fun. After that, you can visit the North Gate Night Market, South Gate Night Market, and the night market behind Chiang Mai University to enjoy some snacks and stroll around leisurely. The best place to watch the parade is at Tha Phae Gate, but it is also very crowded there, which is quite interesting. Additionally, I recommend my favorite temple, which is shown in the photo below with lanterns hanging everywhere. #wheretogo In the heart of Chiang Mai's ancient city in Thailand, I encountered an impressive but nameless golden stupa. I arrived here in the morning to discover a meticulously designed golden stupa surrounded by various golden animal statues. At the center of the stupa, intricate carvings of various Buddha images were visible. In front of it, a red table held offerings and fresh flowers, and I respectfully joined my hands in prayer as a sign of reverence. Across from the golden stupa, there was a building housing several Buddha statues. Overall, this was a profoundly sacred place, with its intricate design, golden accents, and the sense of serenity it exuded.

Internet-famous hotel "The Inside House" Located in the ancient city, with a 711 at the doorstep. Small hotels are full of details, every corner is a photo opportunity. If you come to Chiang Mai and don't stay here for a night, I will be sad. Failed to book a room with a pool, but I will come back next time! Upon check-in, a welcome drink is provided. The hotel has prepared fruits and desserts in the room. From 1pm to 5pm, there are complimentary drinks and fixed desserts for afternoon tea. At night, there will be a goodnight dessert on the bedside table, which is really thoughtful. In the bathroom, there are lipsticks, nail clippers, and even a curling iron. The fruits in the room are updated every day, and there are also flowers and orchids decorating the minibar in the cabinet, all of which are free. Every corner is full of Moroccan style, white buildings wrapped in green plants, perfectly designed. The only downside is that the scent in the hotel is all almond flavor, and I hate almond flavor.

I took the night sleeper train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Thailand. It’s not cheaper than a plane, and it takes 12 hours, but as a long-term backpacker, I couldn’t give up the romance..! It’s even more delicious to buy various snacks at convenience stores and on the street before boarding and eat them on the train. If you take the night train, you can also see the sunset while you’re traveling. In the evening, the train crew will personally transform the chair into a bed! Of course, you’ll have to wake up in the morning^^; It’s small, but the bathroom is clean and air-conditioned. I don’t think you necessarily need a first-class seat, and I personally recommend the first-floor second-class car on the new train. However, the first-floor car has windows and is comfortable, so it’s popular, so make a reservation in advance on the website!! The first thing that catches your eye when entering the temple is the glittering golden Buddha statue, and the murals in the hall depict the ancient local costumes and customs. In the center of the temple is a 20-meter golden white tower, which is a strong representative style of Thai temples. The second "Qidilong Temple", also known as the Big Buddha Temple, is decorated with snakes and peacocks at the temple gate. There is a huge Buddha statue in the main hall, and the sense of space and the golden decorations inside the temple are very magnificent and exquisite. Along the path to the back square, there is a big Buddha pagoda. Although the ancient pagoda has been weathered by time and earthquakes, it appears majestic and magnificent under the reflection of the golden lotus flowers, with a simple and rustic charm. The third "Wat Chiang Man", the first temple in Chiang Mai, was built in 1300 and is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai. Next to the White Temple is a "glittering" golden building, which is actually a toilet and is probably the most beautiful toilet in the world. The Black Temple is located in a forest of lush grass, consisting of many intricately constructed Thai temples made of original logs. The theme of the Black Temple is hell and death, with water buffalo skulls lined up on the ground, animal skins and large shells on the table, and a complete elephant skeleton and dried snake specimens on display. The creator, Mr. Thawan Duchanee, spent 36 years gradually designing and building this huge open-air, garden-style private art museum. His disciple and friend, a Buddhist artist, was inspired by him to create the still unfinished White Temple. In Chiang Mai, magnificent temples can be seen everywhere, filled with the mysterious charm of Eastern Buddhist culture.
