A VENETIAN FORTRESS OF CORFU!
THE OLD FORTRESS OF CORFU IS A VENETIAN FORTRESS IN THE CITY OF CORFU, GREECE THE FORTRESS COVERS THE PROMONTORY WHICH INITIALLY CONTAINED THE OLD TOEN OF CORFU THAT HAS EMERGED DURING BYZANTINE TIMES.
AS PART OF THEIR DEFENSIVE PLANS THE VENETIANS SEPARATED THE PROMONTORY FROM THE REST OF THE CITY OF CORFU BY CREATING THE CONTRAFOSSA, A MOAT WHICH IS A SEA CHANNEL CONNECTING THE GULF OF KERKYRA TO THE NORTH WITH THE BAY OF GARITSA TO THE SOUTH, CONCERTING THE CITADEL INTO AN ARTIFICIAL ISLAND.

THE VACATIONER!
Old Fortress of Corfu 🏛️
#timetotravel
My visit to the Old Fortress of Corfu in Greece was a captivating journey through history and panoramic views. Situated in the heart of Corfu Town, this ancient stronghold welcomed me with its imposing walls and rich heritage. As I explored the well-preserved ramparts, discovered the Venetian architecture, and stood atop the fortress for sweeping vistas of the Ionian Sea, a sense of timelessness and admiration filled me. The fortress's central location made it an integral part of Corfu's cultural landscape. It wasn't just a fortress; it was a testament to the island's strategic importance and its historical significance as a crossroads of civilizations, inviting me to step back in time and appreciate the blend of architectural marvels and the stunning surroundings, leaving me in awe of its enduring legacy and the stories it holds within its walls.

Greece Travel | The hardest part is saying goodbye~
On the last day of our trip on Corfu Island in Greece, we chose to wander through the alleys of Corfu Old Town. The warm sunlight penetrates the narrow streets, revealing the age marks of the old buildings. Every stone seems to be telling its own story, as if this place is a time machine, taking us back to the long and peaceful years. The warm sunlight casts mottled afterglow through the eaves, and every corner is a unique painting. This is a journey about sunlight, old buildings, and peaceful time, taking away a never-fading poetic scroll.
Corfu Old Town is like a melodious poem, where sunlight, architecture, and time interweave into a wonderful scroll. When saying goodbye, what remains in the heart is not only the scenery, but also the unique passion and tranquility of this land. Perhaps, it is this unique brilliance that makes Corfu Old Town a beautiful memory that never fades in time.

old fortress in Corfu day and night
Beautiful place here in Corfu and the people are nice. I was there with a friend for a week and we already want to go back to Corfu and explore more of the island. We were in many places on the island without a car. You can take the bus anywhere on the island which is cheap and kann see sometimes nice views on the ride. I would recommend to go there it’s not as expensive as the other islands.
