I've always wanted to stay at a designer hotel in Guiyang.
I had heard about the Guiyang Amber Hotel before. Today, my friend and I met in Guiyang for the Mid-Autumn Festival, so I booked this hotel.
Unlike other high-end hotels, the Amber Hotel doesn't have a grand entrance, but it's very low-key and feels more luxurious.
The hotel's design is very unique, with both European and Chinese elements. The doorman kept telling me about the hotel's design and how it differs from other hotels.
The hotel has a sky lobby, and the doorman brought me a wet towel and peach juice, which felt very ceremonial.
The room was well equipped, with a capsule coffee machine, a Dyson hair dryer, and the welcome fruit was very delicate. The mineral water was Foss brand.
The room also came with a cocktail coupon, which allowed me to have two free cocktails in the lounge.
All in all, I was very impressed with this hotel.

The welcome lobby has a striking painting by an artist on the wall. The mountains in the painting depict the unique ethereal scenery of Guizhou. Under natural light, it has a sense of misty mountain and water light and shadow.
The 20-story Jinping Lobby Bar has a mountain gate arch, and the continuous arches form a sense of sequence, echoing the karst caves in Guizhou. The logs and plain pottery create a warm atmosphere. While waiting for check-in, the butler kindly handed over seasonal drinks and lemongrass essential oil towels.
On one side is a 30-meter-high mysterious and deep atrium skylight. Irregular holes of different sizes are carved on the high wall, like the rosy clouds in the forest. The white wall next to the skylight projects a beautiful 3D flowing dynamic picture, like a poetic and everlasting star river.

This was my second hotel stay in Guiyang during my first trip to Guizhou. I stayed in the Danfeng Bailu King Room at the designer hotel Zhenpo Hotel.
It is said that this hotel values guest privacy, and you can't see any hotel information from the outside. After booking, you will be added to the housekeeper's WeChat, and you can contact them anytime with questions.
We rented a car and parked on the B1 floor. As shown in picture 18, you can see the obvious entrance to the hotel. From this door, you start to feel the uniqueness of this designer hotel, with attention to detail everywhere. First, take the elevator to the first floor, then the hotel staff will swipe the card to take you to the lobby, as shown in picture 1. If we weren't so tired from playing, we could have taken some good photos.
After checking in, the staff escorted us to our room and gave various explanations. It was already past eleven at night when we checked in, so we decided to experience it ourselves.
Picture 2 shows the welcome fruit plate and snacks. We were already full before checking in, so we couldn't eat any more. The painting is very cute and handmade, showing great care.
The following pictures show room details. The hairdryer is a Dyson set, and there are face masks, various drinks, and mineral water. If you need more or have preferences, you can tell the housekeeper to bring them to you.
There are latex pillows and down pillows. The bathtub is huge, perfect for soaking our feet after walking 20,000 steps daily. Initially, the stopper in the middle wasn't tight and leaked water, but after telling the housekeeper, they quickly fixed it and explained the reason for the leak, which was quite educational. They also brought us two bath bombs.
The toiletries are labeled Diptyque, the same brand as Ritz-Carlton, but these are small bottles you can take with you. The scent is lovely, and my partner liked it a lot.
Breakfast is delicious, with almost everything tasting great and genuinely fresh. The juices are freshly squeezed, and you can mix your own fruits. The service is also attentive. The day after we checked in, we went rafting, and they gave us an extra felt bag, which was very sturdy and useful.
When we checked out today, they gave us a bag of souvenirs, which was very thoughtful. The only downside was that the latex pillow they brought was a bit dirty. Also, the door between the bathroom and the bedroom was a bit heavy.
Overall, the stay was quite comfortable. I regret not coming here directly at the start. If we had stayed for four nights, we could have enjoyed the breakfast thoroughly!

First of all, this is truly a hidden gem of a hotel, absolutely the best in Guiyang, highly recommended for everyone to experience. I came to Guiyang on a business trip alone and stayed at the Amber brand for the first time. It seems to be the most expensive basic room type in Guiyang now, and it is definitely worth the price.
According to the hotel introduction, this is a French brand, exactly a century old, but it has always been family-operated, so the scale is not large. The brand was just acquired by their owner, and currently, there are also Amber hotels in Chengdu and Leshan.
The hotel is now in the same building as Hilton Hampton, with the main entrance next to it, which looks inconspicuous. The hotel introduction says it is designed to feel like a private residence, which is acceptable. Floors above the 19th are all Amber, with a gym but no pool, totaling 88 rooms, a boutique hotel scale.
The hotel corridor has many arched elements, and the front desk and lobby bar are on the 20th floor. At first sight, I was amazed by the greenery everywhere. Walking through to the back of the lobby bar feels like a beautifully decorated cave. The concierge staff was waiting by my side the whole time and even brought a welcome drink, a warm pear soup with a hint of ginger. I complimented it as quite tasty. After getting the room card, I passed through an atrium with snow-white walls, said to be 30 meters high, with naked-eye 3D projections on the walls. The corridor on the guest room side has submarine-like round porthole windows, which are quite interesting.
Entering the room, the concierge introduced that the mini-bar is free, and the hotel can replenish it if used up. The drinks in the fridge are also rich, all non-alcoholic. The bed in the room is very comfortable, and the bathrobe is very soft. Probably because of Dyson, the hairdryer is placed on the washstand instead of in the drawer.
The hotel also has butler service throughout. From the time I booked the room a few days ago, someone has been contacting me by phone and WeChat, confirming my itinerary, introducing hotel facilities, etc. I mentioned before that I don't like pillows that are too soft for sleeping, and after checking in, they immediately sent a latex pillow. I had forgotten about it myself.
In the evening, I went out for dinner and came back to find the bed turned down, with a face mask on the bedside table. Turning around, I saw a small pear soup and dessert by the coffee machine. I don't know if it was because I complimented it during check-in, but I quite liked it. The next day, after washing up, the butler sent a message introducing breakfast. I tried the Guiyang specialty Changwang noodles as recommended, which were quite delicious. People who like offal would find it irresistible, but I guess it would be spicier and more enjoyable if eaten outside. The chef team is said to be from Shanghai, and the quality of the dishes is very high. Many dining tables in the restaurant have a large teddy bear, though I don't know if there is a specific cultural IP behind it. For a moment, I thought I was staying at the Langham.
When leaving, waiting for the car to arrive, it was quite cold on the first floor because there was no glass door. The concierge immediately brought me a bottle of water. I initially thought I wouldn't drink it, but she said it was warm water to warm my hands. Wow, I instantly felt so nice.

Other walls also feature some handmade bricks/artistic bricks, and luxury stones are used in some areas as well. These material and craftsmanship choices are part of the reason for the high overall cost, which in turn leads to high room rates.
However, the craftsmanship and design of the water bar's wooden frame and lighting in the reception area are not very refined.
The guest room design is standard, with a small sleeping area, but the bathroom layout combined with the corridor makes the space feel very ample.
Overall, it's quite interesting. Friends who are interested can also take a tour. There's a pastry bar on the first floor, the taste is okay and the prices are not expensive. Worth trying.

My friend experienced 81 checks and calls at Hilton before checking in.
But when I entered Amber, the service called before check-in to ask us which kind of pillow we needed, whether we needed a non-smoking room.
There was someone to take our luggage as soon as we entered the door. There was someone to explain all the way during check-in, and they arranged us on the ladies' floor, which is very female-friendly! Then, these days, wherever we go in the hotel, someone will help us press the elevator.
The goodnight sweet soup on the first day was red bean paste, and the second day was walnut sesame paste, both were placed in the room in a warm cup.
The desserts for two days were delicious! Love to stay! We like to eat and they sent us more, it's really good. They also sent my clothes for free.
The second day we changed rooms, they helped us move in a Japanese style, all things were moved for us intact, we didn't have to worry about anything.
The toiletries are from Anne semonin, a top beauty SPA brand, and the well-known Maison Margiela.
