Traveling in the Candi Prambanan was really an experience as it gave me a treasured expereince of visiting a UNESCO world heritage site that feature Indonesian. Hindus culture and architecture. Definitely a must see in Yogyakarta. The location of this temple is approximately 30 minutes from the city center. Entrance fee is US$ 18 for adult foreigner. Half for foreign student showing their student card. Local tourist is much cheaper.
The site is particularly impressive during the full moon time, seen from the other site. The site where we watch the Ramayana ballet. With special lighting, the Candis is beautifully back dropping the dance, through out. Happy vacation

Mesmerizing Hindu Trinity Gods Temples
It is strange that Yogyakarta which is 90 % muslim is home to the Borobudur budhist and Prambanan Hindi temple, build from 8 century to the 9th century. The Prambanan temples have more that 290 temple, and are continuously being restored after it was destroyed by mt. Merapis eruptions. At the center are 5 big temples, where the guide explained. It has a lot of carvings and status. There are trams and golf card that takes you to the many temple.
The entrance fee for adult (December 2017) is 40.000 IDR, quite expensive but it's worth it! Because the area is neat and well-maintained. Don't forget to bring water and umbrella/hat/cap/as you want because it's so hot! This temple is not really suitable for elderly because the stairs in the temple is so high.

Prambanan Temple
Despite seeing the temple umpteen times in the internet, I was still beheld of the monstrous size of these ancient constructions. To say that we looked like ants when compared to the temples was no mere exaggeration. The tallest and biggest temple in the center was obviously dedicated to Lord Shiva the Creator. The two temples flanking it were dedicated to Brahma the Keeper and Vishnu the Destroyer. These three main shrines formed the "Trimurti" (three forms). The three other smaller temples were dedicated to the "Vahana"(vehicle) of the gods-Nandi (Shiva's bull), Hamsa (Brahma's swan) and Garuda (Vishnu's eagle). All were dwarfed by the presence of Shiva's 47 meter tall buidling.
The temples are adorned with life like panels of bas-reliefs narrating the stories of Hindu epic. They could be attained by climbing a set of steep steps to the gallery behind the balustrades walls. It would also lead you to a dark chamber which housed a statue of the god it symbolized.

Amazing Traditional Ramayana Ballet
We had just arrived in Jogja that morning and spent the afternoon at Prambanan, hence we were quite tired. However, the play was amazing and had some comedy intwined into it. It was easy to understand the storyline as they provided leaflets with descriptions of each act beforehand in multiple languages and also have a screen with a description of the events in the act during the play. The backdrop was of the lighted Prambanan temples and it was simply breathtaking!
Enjoy the traditional Ramayana ballet on the open stage of Prambanan Temple to become a destination which we should prioritize. artistic performances and performances with a variety of artistic creations make us enjoy it. Come and enjoy.

Prambanan, most beautiful hindu temple in the world, and Borobudur, the biggest buddhist monument.
From Yogyakarta in Central Java we went to both Prambanan and Borobodur in one day.
Prambanan is the biggest hindu temple in the island of java and is often dubbed as the most beautiful Hindu temple in the world. The temple consists of three main temples, one for each of the Hindu gods, Brahma, Wisnu, and Shiva.
Around the complex there is also opportunity for various activities such as tandem biking, mini atvs, archery and animal garden.
Borobudur is the biggest single Buddhist monument in the world, and arguably the biggest tourist attraction in all of Central Java. It is made up of 10 levels and takes form of a giant mandala. It is still a very important place of Buddhist worship, and is visited by Buddhist pilgrim monks from all over the world once a year.

A mysterious ruin that rivals Angkor Wat, 99% of people don't know about it
After visiting Yogyakarta, besides Borobudur,
another must-see is Prambanan.
As for Prambanan,
I must describe it this way,
majestic yet elegant in demeanor.
Perhaps I really want to narrate with words,
perhaps I really want to express with photos,
but I encourage everyone to go there in person,
to see and feel its beauty with your own eyes and heart.
Many people might compare Angkor Wat with Prambanan,
I personally don't like to make pointless comparisons when traveling.
Both narrate the same story,
so there will definitely be similarities to some extent,
but when it comes to architectural style and the portrayal of figures,
there will certainly be differences.
If we talk about the grand scale,
although it can't compete with Angkor Wat,
the 240 intact structures from Prambanan's heyday are still astounding.
After all,
there's no need for comparison,
because the mere existence of these ancient ruins is enough to inspire awe.

TIPS: Prambanan is not very large, it can be seen in about two hours, making it suitable for a visit in the afternoon. If you're short on time, you can visit Borobudur in the morning and Prambanan in the afternoon.
There's a large lawn at the exit, sitting under a tree for photos is very photogenic.

Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta, Indonesia | One of the five great wonders of the East, a Hindu temple
Prambanan Temple Complex is located on the island of Java in Indonesia, it is the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia and the largest in Southeast Asia. It is one of the five great wonders of the East, along with the Pyramids, Angkor Wat, the Great Wall, and Borobudur.
The temple complex was built around the late 9th century and consists of hundreds of temples of different sizes. Many buildings collapsed in a major earthquake in the 16th century, turning into a pile of rubble.
Prambanan Temple was built with volcanic rock, and the builders of the 9th century used a spoon-lock method to connect the stones into a temple. Experts must find the right stones to connect in the vast 'sea of stones', the restoration project is huge and difficult, and only one small temple can be restored in a year.
After a thousand years of history, only the remnants of the small pagodas around Prambanan remain, because many stones have been stolen and are not enough for reconstruction, so they can only maintain the status quo, but this also adds a lot of vicissitudes to this monument.
The three large towers lined up on the horizon are dedicated to Shiva (the god of destruction), Vishnu (the god of order), and Brahma (the god of creation), with the largest one in the center belonging to Shiva, the tower is 47 meters high; the three small towers in front of the three large towers are dedicated to the mount gods of the main gods, the god cow, the god swan, and the god eagle.
The Shiva Temple is located in the center, with four stone chambers in the east, south, west, and north. The main chamber houses a 3-meter-high statue of Shiva, and the other three stone chambers are dedicated to Shiva's wife Durga, his incarnation Rishi Agastya, and his son Ganesha.
The decorations on the fence of the Shiva Temple are the reliefs from the Ramayana about Hanuman and the Monkey Kingdom. The monkeys have intelligent and sharp expressions, and their gestures seem thick and simple.
Prambanan Temple is listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, it is the most magnificent Hindu temple in Indonesia, a shining pearl in the history of world architecture, sculpture, and painting art, and its official name is now Prambanan Cultural Tourism Park.

Offbeat Travel Destination Prambanan | Guide to the Lost Civilization of Java Island
Prambanan is really fascinating, although it's not as well-known as Borobudur, it's a very niche travel destination in Asia, but standing in front of it is quite spectacular.
Unfortunately, we arrived around noon when the sun was directly overhead and very hot. If you have the chance, you can enter around 4 pm in the evening when the light is soft and the photos look better!
There are three groups of buildings inside, and the journey is a bit long, so wear comfortable shoes. You can enter each temple, and the stairs are easy to walk. The wind and sand inside are a bit strong, you can wear a face towel~
At the entrance, they will give you a small bottle of water, which is a bit insufficient, you can bring another bottle
🎫 We bought a package ticket with Borobudur, which is about 675k Indonesian Rupiah (about 300 RMB). If you didn't get the ticket to climb Borobudur, it's not recommended to buy the package, it's not worth it)
🚗 We rented a car in Yogyakarta, it's 600k for a day, it's more convenient to rent a car, there is about 1.5 hours drive between Borobudur and Prambanan

Prambanan, nestled in southern Java, Indonesia, stands as a testament to ancient Hindu architecture, dating back to the 9th century. I stepped into the millennium-old mysterious temple in Indonesia
Yogyakarta, Indonesia | Borobudur & Prambanan | Solo One-Day Tour||| Regarding the itinerary, I went to these two world heritage sites alone, which just unlocked the way to go alone for a day.
1⃣️Prerequisites:
An objective factor for checking in two world heritage sites in one day is good weather. In Yogyakarta in March, it is generally clear in the morning and heavy rain in the afternoon, so a day when it does not rain in the morning and afternoon can make the itinerary much simpler.
2⃣️Borobudur:
I stayed at the Phoenix Hotel Mgallery not far from the train station. The time to go to Borobudur and Prambanan is one hour and half an hour respectively. I got up at eight in the morning, finished breakfast at nine, changed some money, and grabbed a motorcycle at about nine thirty. The one-way trip to Borobudur is 120k. The total ticket price including the climb is 755k, and a pair of straw shoes is given. I told the motorcycle driver that he would wait for me at the door. Borobudur comes with a tour guide, and as long as there are five people, they will go up. I stayed in the temple for about two hours, then came out and let the driver take me to a nearby hilltop to overlook Borobudur and fly a drone, but the distance was a bit far and the effect was not very good. Then I went straight back to the hotel in Yogyakarta. On the way, I negotiated with the driver. He also took me to Prambanan in the afternoon, and he waited for me to rest in the hotel in the middle.
3⃣️Prambanan:
Prambanan is much closer, I didn't set off until two thirty in the afternoon, and arrived after three. Although Prambanan does not have a free guide, you can find enough research materials by opening YouTube, and you can have a good tour experience with a little study. At sunset, I flew a drone on the periphery and got some good photos under the setting sun. Compared with the single building of Borobudur, the multiple stupas of Prambanan are more rich in viewing and more layered in shooting. I took a car back to the hotel at sunset.
4⃣️Summary:
The round trip from the hotel to Prambanan is 100k. In the end, I paid the driver because I went to an extra mountain and gave 30k. The total transportation cost is 100k+240k+30k. For one person, the price is relatively acceptable. I returned to the hotel at more than five o'clock, a perfect day~
