Guizhou·Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture
Zhenyuan County·Qinglongdong Ancient Architecture Group
The Qinglongdong Ancient Architecture Group was built in the 21st year of the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (1388), and has a history of more than 600 years. It has been destroyed by soldiers and fire several times, and has been repaired several times. According to historical records, during the Ming Hongwu period more than 600 years ago, this place had already formed a scale comparable to the existing architectural group. "Ming Junshou Huang Xiying built, Gongbu Langzhong Zhao Zhixu bought the scriptures, and built a multi-storey building to store it." During the Ming Jiajing period, not only a large number of temples were added here, but also palace and academy buildings were added. Later, many of them were expanded and rebuilt. During the Yongqian period, there were also commercial guild buildings and theater buildings such as the Wanshou Palace.
These ancient buildings are located between the cliffs on the Wuyang River in Zhenyuan and the cliffs on the top of the mountain. They have adopted various techniques such as "hanging", "borrowing", "attaching", "inlaying", "building", etc., and they have built a group of pavilions and caves such as Zhongyuan Cave, Ziyang Cave, Qinglong Cave, and Wanshou Palace on a cliff. It is known as the "Southern Hanging Temple". Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism are integrated here, living in harmony, and the three religions are unified. Moreover, the architecture of Qinglongdong cleverly combines the Central Plains architecture with the Miao and Dong stilted buildings. The entire Qinglongdong is full of fusion beauty. It integrates Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism, guild halls, bridges and Yidao architectural culture.

'Two mountains flank a stream with wicked waters, a path in autumn mist carved at the mountain's base, travelers in the mountain's shadow, in the stream's reflection, though the body has not fallen, the courage has already dropped.'

Zhenyuan Ancient Town
Zhenyuan Ancient Town is called the Oriental Venice. Zhenyuan is located in Zhenyuan County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, where the river meanders in an "S" shape through the town. The north bank is the prefectural city, and the south bank is the defensive city. Both cities were built during the Ming Dynasty, and some parts of the city walls and gates still exist. There are many ancient buildings, traditional residences, and historical docks both inside and outside the city. Zhenyuan boasts one hall, two nunneries, two institutes, four bridges, four caves, six passes, six offices, eight temples, eight ancestral halls, eight pavilions, nine galleries, nine temples, and over 160 cultural relics and historic sites from the Ming and Qing dynasties, including ancient residences, alleys, and docks that are of great value for sightseeing and scientific research.
According to records, ancient Zhenyuan was located at the junction of the 'Wuxi Barbarians' and the 'Baiyue people' in history. In the first year of Shaoding of the Song Dynasty (1226), it was named Zhenyuan Prefecture, and the name 'Zhenyuan' has been used ever since. Zhenyuan has a long history, dating back more than 2280 years to the 30th year of King Zhao of Qin (277 BC) when it was first established as a county. During the Yuan and Qing dynasties, it was the site of a Taoist prefecture for over 700 years.
In Zhenyuan, you can climb the 'upright and vast like a screen' Shiping Mountain to overlook the entire ancient town, visit the 'Hanging Temple of the South' Qinglong Cave to see the ancient architectural complex that integrates Buddhist scripture halls, Taoist temples, Confucian academies, and guild halls, and explore the 'crooked doors and slanted paths' of the Sifang Well Alley, Stone Archway Alley, Fuxing Alley, and other ancient alleys to see the traditional residences.
Ticket: Free (Separate admission fees for Shiping Mountain and Qinglong Cave).

This is a free 5A scenic area
Unlike the hustle and bustle of other Miao villages, Zhenyuan is a quiet Miao town with a history of more than 2,300 years. You must visit it once with your loved one, and enjoy the tranquility and distance of this border town along the calm Wuyang River.
Recommended attractions: Climb the Shiping Mountain once, it was the northern barrier of this border town. Take a look at Qinglong Cave, it is a wonderful example of the combination of Han architecture in the south of the Yangtze River and the mountain architecture culture of the southwestern minorities, known as the 'Hanging Temple of the Southwest', and is the largest ancient architectural complex in Guizhou Province.
Check in at Zhusheng Bridge, which is an ancient bridge that has experienced more than 600 years of historical vicissitudes. Originally named 'Xiqiao', it was renamed 'Zhusheng Bridge' after Emperor Kangxi celebrated his birthday. Walk through the ancient streets of the town, where the ancient alleys are quiet and winding, the stone bridges and city walls are scattered in an orderly manner, and the spring river fishing lights are dim!
