Most of the tourists who visits Hat Yai will visit Samila Beach. It is a nice place to stroll on the beach itself or beside the streets…. You can find also food trucks selling food and drink in the morning for breakfast, souvenir shops and indulge in some horse riding.
But on Samila Beach, there are two iconic statues, which is the statue of a mermaid sitting on a rock called “Ngueak Thong”, which is the symbol of this beach, and not far from the mermaid is a cat and rat statue, which tells the legend of Ko Nu and Ko Maeo, the islands that can be clearly seen from Samila Beach.

I went on
I went on a departmental trip with my colleagues over the weekend (Saturday) on a bus.
There were specified parking lots along the road and further inside the perimeter. I am not sure if there was any parking fees.
Several shops including 7e and food stalls were there
The beach was not suitable to swim in, heard it due to jellyfish around. I never confirmed the fact but there were nobody swimming in there.
There was the popular Golden Mermaid Statue that i don't get the chance to take a picture with. The queue was quite long for an hour trip.
These pictures were at the part of the beach that was a bit away from the crowd, a quiet place to hang out from people.

Samila Beach! 🩷
One of the best places to go when we are in Thailand. Such a nice view and a good place to chill. Got a horse ride there if anyone wants to try. There are also a lot of shops that sell clothes, food, drinks, souvenirs, and else. Other than that, you can also take a lot of good pictures of the beach, views, and yourself. And don't forget to take a picture with their golden mermaid statue for memories! ❤️ #songkran2024 #beautiful_thailand #samilabeach

SAMILA BEACH THAILAND
North of the university but south of the museum sits the Old Town gate. This gate and a small section of wall near to the museum are all that remain of the old fortifications of the town. Nowadays the gate marks the entrance to the historic Old Town of Songkhla. Through the gate, the old town spreads out across three parallel roads, its eastern side bleeding into the modern town with its west bordering the lagoon. #songkhla#cherryblossom2024 #awesomepic
