I have never seen any zoo in Europe before where you can even set up your tent after seeing the animals. Looks like it is a great place to spend the whole day with family or friends whenever the weather is good.
I few animals cannot be seen, but one could
spent hours there even this way if u can tolerate the weather. I found snack is a bit expensive so make sure to bring ur own if wanna save a few rmb.

We visited the Zoo during winter time sadly the panda are sleeping the whole time.
The place is clean and organized worth your time to visit here, has a lots of animals that i have never seen before and has many activities for the kids and families, like feeding the animals.
The place is huge i recommend you to rent the electric car if you want to check the whole place because walking is very tiring i think we paid 20rmb per person they will give you the ticket and you have to show to the driver every time you want to ride again and go to another side of the park.
They also have a small stall shop in the corner where you can buy some snacks like hotdog sandwich and drinks.
We will definitely come back again.

A traditional but well managed zoo
This is not a fair review, I am biased and love Shanghai Zoo. I visit around 4 times a year.
Shanghai zoo is the perfect place to enjoy a weekend morning. Most of the animals are very well looked after. Some of the enclosures are a little old but you can see renovation projects taking place, such as the renovation of the big cat house. The lions perhaps look the unhappiest in the Zoo.
However, most animals seem relatively happy and well looked after. There is a huge variety of animals and birds to see.
The staff are serious and if present will tell visitors to behave. However, it would be nice to see more staff present to do this.
The choice of snacks and foods inside is poor. I recommend eating outside. Metro Line 10 is directly outside so jump on the metro and head into downtown for food.
Parking bikes is easy on most days outside the front gate. There are also some good rides, we enjoy taking the wheel to see the park from above.
The admission to Shanghai zoo is 40rmb which is excellent value compared to other zoos in the west.

Zoo life!
We visited Shanghai Zoo over Golden Week. I expected it to be full and overcrowded; however, it was not. The Zoo itself is quite massive and took a good few hours to walk around the entire park
There are also golf carts if you aren’t up for the walk. There were many places to buy snacks and drinks as well as a restaurant. Children are also able to pet certain animals
If you are in the city and looking for something to do with kids, then I would suggest the Zoo. It is also convenient to travel too as it is on the Metro line. You are also able to purchase tickets on their WeChat account before hand. I’d definitely recommend spending the day here

Another beautiful attraction in Chongqing - the zoo is immaculate and they are very intelligent they have different areas for the animals and they let them out one at a time, so people can see them up close and see them eat and interact with the others. The Pandas were so beautiful, the white and yellow tigers were also amazing.

If you want to see animals in city center of Shanghai and also go for a picnic on the weekend, I would especially recommend Shanghai Zoo! There are many animals to watch here, including the national treasure giant panda, African animals, marine life, terrestrial life and more than 620 kinds. Children can also experience feeding small animals by themselves. There is a super large lawn in the zoo, which is a good place for picnics on weekends. There is also a big Ferris wheel next to the lawn! Taking photos there are really nice! The most important thing is that the zoo is near the Hongqiao Airport, which is very convenient to go there, and also the ticket is very cheap, and the cost-effective weekend leisure destination.

A Leisurely Stroll Through Nature at Shanghai Zoo
The morning sun bathes Shanghai Zoo in a fresh, invigorating light, compelling visitors to slow down and immerse themselves in this natural haven. Upon entering the park, one is greeted by lush forests and swaying green leaves, accompanied by the soft whispers of various animals and the chirping of birds, creating an idyllic paradise.
As you wander through the zoo, you can see agile squirrel monkeys climbing skillfully, graceful giraffes strolling leisurely, and majestic tigers emerging from the shadows of the trees. Each animal area is meticulously arranged, allowing visitors to feel the essence of nature and the freedom of the animals. Particularly in front of the panda house, crowds of visitors gather quietly, admiring the lazy pandas munching on bamboo, their adorable demeanor bringing smiles to everyone's faces.
Throughout the walk, one can appreciate the beauty of nature and the unique atmosphere of interacting with animals. This visit not only relaxes the mind but also deepens one's understanding of the diversity of life. A day at Shanghai Zoo is like a gentle lesson in nature, leaving visitors reluctant to leave and eager to return.

The weather is perfect for a family outing to Shanghai Zoo.
☀️ Today, the weather was particularly pleasant, so I decided to take my two little ones to Shanghai Zoo. 🎉
As soon as we entered the zoo, the kids were captivated by the variety of animals. 🦁 The adorable lions were lazily basking in the sun, while the majestic tigers were pacing around, as if patrolling their territory. 🐒 The monkeys were lively, jumping up and down the trees, making the kids laugh out loud. 🦒 The giraffes' long necks were truly amazing, and they gracefully ate leaves, creating a beautiful scene.
We followed the route and saw the adorable pandas, whose round and chubby appearance was simply too cute. 🐼 We also saw beautiful peacocks 🦚, but unfortunately, we didn't see them spread their feathers.
In the zoo, the kids not only got to observe the animals up close but also learned a lot about them. 📖 At each exhibit, we explained the animals' habits and characteristics to the kids, and they listened with great interest.
🎈 This trip to Shanghai Zoo was a lot of fun for the kids, and they learned a lot. 💖 If you're looking for a place to spend a fun day with your kids, consider visiting Shanghai Zoo. It's a place we visit every year, several times a year.

Direct subway access, spring outings, camping, and animal watching, Shanghai is a must-visit for family fun~
Let's talk about the popular spot for family outings in Shanghai, the Shanghai Zoo.
Although the variety of animals in the zoo is not as extensive as that of the Shanghai Wild Animal Park, it wins in terms of very convenient transportation. Moreover, the small animals that everyone loves to see can basically be found here. Not far from the entrance, there is an area for bird and goldfish viewing, and then following the route, you can visit various animals that children like, such as pandas, tigers, lions, giraffes, elephants, kangaroos, and so on.
💜Although the entire tour route is relatively simple, it is still recommended to pay attention to the visiting time. For example, pandas usually come out to eat at 2:30 pm, which is quite a spectacle, while they spend most other times sleeping. Then, for giraffes, there is a feeding explanation at 2:20 pm. Following the route, you can join the elephant feeding explanation at 2:45 pm. There is also the kangaroo's return home around 3:30 pm.
💙By the way, there is also a small children's amusement park in the zoo, where the price for each play is quite reasonable, and you can also take children there for fun.
💚The park has a large lawn, and the plant landscape is also beautifully arranged. Even if you don't come to see the animals, just camping here or treating it as a stroll in the park is very pleasant. Although there is not much to eat inside the zoo, you can order takeout to be delivered to the exit. The location of the zoo is quite good, and there are many types of takeout available, so it is suggested to have lunch on the lawn and then start touring the park area.
💛In terms of transportation, if you are taking public transport, just get off at the subway station for the zoo. If you are driving, you need to arrive a bit earlier, as the parking spaces, although in a multi-story parking garage, are still in high demand.

Shanghai Zoo has never let me down
Shanghai Zoo has been a place of joy since my childhood, never disappointing.
As a child, I loved watching the tigers🐯 and gorillas🦍.
The gorilla was so big, locked in a glass house, and as a child, I found it scary yet pitiful.
Now the internet celebrities are goldfish🐟 and pandas🐼.
The Panda Ridge stone tablet is still there, just like it was decades ago .
It is said that there are flamingos to welcome guests early in the morning , but unfortunately, I missed it.
The time was around 9:15 AM⏰⏰.
The orange flamingos have graceful figures and their slender, true-to-life legs are very attractive. They are also easy to photograph in the sunlight.
Shanghai Zoo is not small in size, covering an area of 740,000 square meters, with more than 400 species of animals.
It is recommended to plan a whole day for the visit🌹🌹.

Weather: The temperature is just right, and the plants are tender green!
Q: Why do the plants in the zoo grow so well?
Shi Yi answers: Because they don't have to go to work.

I'll let you in on a secret, the cherry blossoms at the zoo are also blooming beautifully
It's that time of the year again to check in with the cherry blossoms. Are you envious of all the 🌸 photos in your friends' circles, but worried that the well-known spots are too crowded? No worries, today I recommend you visit the Shanghai Zoo. It's definitely a hidden gem for cherry blossom viewing. 😃😃😃😃
🌟 Highlights:
It also carries memories of childhood, not to mention the variety of cute animals. The flowers here are no less impressive than those at the botanical garden. 🤓🤓🤓
👍 Most recommended:
Especially the flowers blooming along both sides of the river. The steps of spring are getting closer and closer. Even the peacocks are fanning their tails. 😁😁😁

The 'Dreamcore' Zoo in Shanghai is just too photogenic
I recommend going in mid to late March, when the early spring weather isn't too hot, and the magnolias and cherry blossoms 🌸 bloom together.
Photo spots📍:
Goldfish Tank: Right at the entrance, the central large fish tank allows you to capture people from the opposite side. The flat small fish tanks next to it are perfect for taking reflection shots (see image 1)
Ferris Wheel🎡: The large lawn in front is free for taking photos. There's also a cherry blossom tree nearby, and if it's not too crowded, you can take beautiful pictures.
Bird Observation Point Stairs: Go upstairs, and you can look down to take photos of people and cherry blossoms 🌸 (see image 6). When we went, there weren't too many cherry blossoms yet.

A day trip to the zoo, a simple and easy-to-understand guide at will
Shanghai Zoo is located in the western suburbs of Shanghai, originally named Xijiao Park, renamed Shanghai Zoo in 1980, one of the top ten zoos in the country, and the second largest city zoo in China. There are nearly 600 species and more than 6,000 rare animals in Shanghai Zoo, including precious animals in China such as elk, giant pandas, golden monkeys, white-lipped deer, Northeast tigers, Yangtze alligators, etc., as well as giraffes, kangaroos, penguins, hippos, sea lions, ostriches, American lions, African lions, etc. from all over the world.

❗️Tour suggestions:
1⃣️Whether to choose to walk or take a sightseeing bus
Compared to the scene when I went to the middle class, I feel more enjoyable when I go to the big class, and my physical strength is much stronger than before. Parents who bring babies are advised to take the sightseeing bus in the park. At each stop, the driver will remind you of what animals can be watched at this stop, which is very detailed, considerate, and saves a lot of effort and energy to find animals.
2⃣️It is not recommended for babies under 3 years old
Today in the zoo, I found an interesting phenomenon, that is, basically babies under 3 years old, after playing for a while, they all fell asleep, either sitting in a stroller, or being held in the hands of adults. It is not so much to take the children, in fact, it is the parents who are watching. In addition, the zoo is relatively large, and it is really tiring to go around.
3⃣️Whether to participate in horse riding and feeding
I think since I went to the wildlife park, I should let the baby have fun. Although riding a horse around, the cost is 30, feeding is 20 yuan/time, it is a bit expensive, but it is worth it to exercise the baby's love and courage. 4⃣️Dining issues
When going out to play, especially high-intensity physical walking, it is recommended for parents to bring some hunger-resistant, high-calorie food, such as: chocolate, ham, bread, water, etc. Of course, parents who don't want to bring food in large and small packages can also dine in the park, which is also very hygienic and convenient.
-
⚠It is best to enter the park in advance, because the staff will start to get the animals into the house at around four o'clock
NovaStardust15
Shanghai is a great place to take kids for a walk, and the zoo is so healing
Spring has arrived, and the little animals at the zoo are so lively.
Especially the birds.
The parrots being fed seem to be in love.
The one with yellow feathers likes to stretch out its claws for a touch.
When happy, it dances a nodding dance.
The peacock has spread its tail on the tree.
The fierce animals have started to pace back and forth to exercise their muscles.
Friends who like small animals must not miss this place.
The gentle and well-behaved small animals have very low fences, just a step away.
This semi-open feeling brings animals and people closer together.
It's a very suitable place to take children.

Shanghai Zoo Nanny-Level Travel Guide, This Article is All You Need!
Recently, due to its hardcore style, Shanghai Zoo has been especially popular. I took Coco for our second visit to the Shanghai Zoo this weekend, and I must say, it's definitely worth revisiting.
❤️ Recommended reasons:
👉 The ticket price is a bargain, crying over the 40 yuan/person deal
👉 Convenient transportation, compared to the safari park, the transportation here is really convenient, with direct access by Metro Line 10
👉 The variety of animals is completely suitable for young children, it's really friendly
❤️ Itinerary arrangement: After entering the park, first visit the amphibian and reptile area — goldfish area — ringed penguin — carnivorous animal area (pandas, white tigers, African lions, and Malayan bears) — herbivorous animal area (alpacas, giraffes, zebras, kangaroos, and African elephants, etc.) — primate area
📝 Tips for visiting:
👉 Many online guides suggest visiting the zoo in a counterclockwise direction after entering, but I don't recommend this because there is a sightseeing car in the zoo, which can save a lot of energy for parents, and the sightseeing car doesn't go counterclockwise!
👉 You can quickly visit the amphibian and reptile area, then make sure to take the sightseeing car, 15 yuan/person for adults, and you can get on and off at any stop, which is very cost-effective;
👉 The penguin walk performance is only available at 10:05 on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, so if you want to watch the performance, arrive a bit earlier and wait at the ringed penguin area;
👉 There are many small restaurants and snack bars in the park, but they all sell snacks, so if you enter the park in the morning, be sure to bring your own food;
👉 It is recommended to bring a picnic mat and a moisture-proof mat, as there are several large lawns suitable for picnics, and it's the best place for camping with kids, also great for taking photos;
👉 If you are with young children, it's suggested not to be too greedy in one go, after all, the ticket is quite cheap, so it's okay to visit several times;
👉 If you are driving on the weekend, it's best to arrive before 8 am, as parking spaces are very tight, 8 yuan/hour.
❤️ Amusement park area:
👉 Located in the center of the zoo, next to the Ferris wheel is the "Children's Amusement Park," with slides, feeding lambs;
👉 Next to the abandoned sea lion pavilion (beside the toilet) there are: fishing for goldfish, small parachutes, coffee cups, monkey carts (all very retro), and parent-child horse riding;
👉 Opposite the entrance of the indoor elephant pavilion, there are bumper cars, excavators, Ultraman, and slightly thrilling slides;
👉 The fourth amusement park, after playing, walk 50 meters towards the exit (opposite the chimpanzee pavilion) there are: merry-go-round, small airplanes, mini roller coaster, dolphin boat, etc.

Shanghai Zoo Travel Guide
Most visitors to the Shanghai Zoo will instinctively turn right after entering the gate and head towards the nearest Amphibian Pavilion, with only a few heading west to visit the Primate Zone first. There's no definitive best route, it all depends on the visitor's interests. If you like large animals, it's recommended that you head west first to see monkeys, herbivores, carnivores, then birds of prey, waterfowl, songbirds and flightless birds, and finally visit the Amphibian Pavilion; if you prefer birds and reptiles, and like lake views, then go the opposite way. You can spend most of your time admiring your favorites. After all, the Shanghai Zoo has a wide variety of animals.
The predecessor of Xijiao Park was a golf course built by foreigners. After being nationalized and rebuilt for more than 50 years since 1954, it still maintains some of the original golf course features on its several large lawns with a total area of 100,000 square meters. The ticket price is very reasonable at only 40 yuan per person, and there are all kinds of animals inside, making it very cost-effective!
The favorite is the orangutan exhibition area (it must be said that our clever ancestors are really just one step away from evolution...)
The red pandas are also super cute. You wouldn't know until you see them, they are mostly sleeping in the trees, one of them looks like it's looking down at humans, so cute~ How to play? (Key point‼️)
✅It is recommended to go counterclockwise! Most people will follow the park's instructions, but there are mostly birds and fish near the entrance, which are quite common and time-consuming to visit. Going counterclockwise, you can see large wild animals first, and see the rarer ones first. After a round, you will be tired and it won't be a pity if you can't finish seeing everything. (Refer to Figure 2)
🐯Travel route:
Morning:
Enter the gate and take a map (super useful) ➡️ then turn left ➡️ primates ➡️ herbivores ➡️ carnivores ➡️ giant pandas ➡️ birds ➡️ goldfish pavilion
Afternoon:
After seeing a round of animals, you will just arrive at the Ferris wheel lawn to rest or eat something ➡️ play in the children's park (there are 3 children's parks) ➡️ after 4:30 you can buy vegetables to feed the sheep🐏

National Series 138 Shanghai Zoo
🌈Historical Background:
Founded in 1954, it was formerly known as the West Suburb Park. "Shanghai Zoo" is not the first zoo established in Shanghai. The first municipal zoo in Shanghai was the "Shanghai Zoo" located on Wenmiao Road in Shanghai. The park was planned in October of the Republic of China 20 and opened to the public in the Republic of China 22. It was finally destroyed by war due to the damage of the Shanghai-Songjiang battle in the Republic of China 26.
🚗Highlights:
National 4A-level tourist attraction, the Shanghai Zoo is home to the "national treasure" and "living fossil" giant panda, as well as golden monkeys, South China tigers, Yangtze alligators and other rare wild animals unique to China, as well as representative animals from around the world such as gorillas, African lions, giraffes, kangaroos, South American tapirs, etc.
🎫Ticket Information:
Tickets are 40
✨Tour Suggestions:
There are five major areas: birds, primates, carnivores, herbivores, amphibians and reptiles. You can visit the Amphibian Museum as soon as you enter, and you can take a battery car or walk after you come out. Basically, it takes half a day to go counterclockwise, and many animals will sleep at noon, so it is best to watch when the park opens in the morning or in the afternoon
