The waterfall’s thin, thread-like streams gracefully cascade down a 20-meter high cliff, creating an enchanting, almost surreal atmosphere. The surrounding lush greenery only adds to the tranquility of this spot, making it a perfect escape from the bustling cities. Our family trip to Shiraito Falls was enchanting. Nestled near Mount Fuji, the falls' delicate, thread-like streams cascading over the wide cliff left us in awe. We hiked scenic trails, enjoyed the lush greenery, and captured the breathtaking beauty of the waterfalls. The serene atmosphere made it a perfect family outing, creating lasting memories.
Next, we're heading to Hakone. Known for its hot springs, stunning views of Mount Fuji, and the scenic Hakone Ropeway, it's an ideal destination. We plan to visit the Hakone Open-Air Museum, relax in an onsen, and take a cruise on Lake Ashi. The blend of natural beauty and cultural attractions promises another unforgettable family adventure.

Shiraito Falls in Japan
#japantrip Have you visited Shiraito Falls in Japan? It's about 2 and a half hours, driving, from Yokosuka. It's Japan's widest waterfall!

"Shiraito Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls in the world. This waterfall is caused by meltwater from Mount Fuji gushing out from the cliff at the boundary between the upper layer, the Shin-Fuji Volcanic Formation, which allows water to pass through, and the lower part, the old Fuji Volcanic Formation, which does not allow water to pass through. Hundreds of waterfalls, large and small, cascade down from a curved cliff 20 meters high and 150 meters wide.
Its appearance is worthy of the name Shiraito (little threads)as it appears to be dripping with many threads of silk. It has a gentle, feminine beauty, and when you stand near the basin of the waterfall, the water arches on three sides create a fantastical world."
It's a National scenic spot and Natural Monument in Japan. Next to Shiraito Falls, there is also beautiful, large, Otodome Falls. We followed signs by the falls to a Nature Park and stumbled upon a large playground as well.
🚗 Plenty of parking available for visitors.
The paths to the falls are paved with many stairs to get down to the falls. There are souvenirs, cafes, shops and bathrooms next to the parking lot. Plus many great photo spots!
