Invite to visit the Wat Lamphaya floating market, Bang Len District, Nakhon Pathom Province
Wat Lamphaya Floating Market is located on the banks of the Nakhon Chai Si River (Tha Chin River), not far from Bangkok. It is a local market-like tourist attraction on a raft in the middle of the Tha Chin River. The atmosphere is nice, and you can feed various kinds of fish that are swimming and waiting for tourists.
Inside the chapel of Wat Lamphaya is the sacred Buddha image, Luang Pho Mongkhon Manimit, a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, 1.70 meters high and 1.30 meters wide. It is said that the original image was a small laterite Buddha image that someone found in the middle of a rice field after the fall of Ayutthaya. It was brought to be kept in Bangkok around the year 1857, and then invited to be enshrined in the chapel of Wat Lamphaya, covered with cement as seen today. It is highly revered by the locals in this area.
Most of the locals in this area are farmers who grow vegetables and fruits, so they bring their produce to sell at the market at low prices, such as guava, rose apple, mango, and flowers. In the market, you will find local food stalls, seafood, food that has been featured on various TV shows, and many desserts.
If you come to Lam Phaya Floating Market, you must not miss taking a boat trip. The price is not expensive either. Adults 70 baht. The boat will sail to Wat Klang Bang Phra (Wat Luang Pho Pen). Along both sides of the river, you will see the nature of houses along the river. The wind is cool and comfortable. Open: Only on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
