Gaoyou, Yangzhou, the ancient courier station Yucheng Post
When strolling on the streets of Gaoyou, you can always feel the unique postal culture of this small city: the sculpture of the letter delivery in the south of the city, the statue of the messenger holding the documents in the city, the Yucheng Post we visited, is the best preserved ancient post station in the country with both water and land transportation. It integrates post station, mansion, transportation, canal transportation and other functions, covering an area of more than 16,000 square meters. It is composed of gate, drum tower, warehouse, gift room, post cheng house, post soldier house, horse god temple and other buildings. It has now been listed as a national key cultural protection unit.
Although Yucheng Post is not large, it is the only ancient postal culture display in our country. In the post house, wandering in the ancient courtyard, ancient post well, ancient courtyard, ancient archway and other relics, compared with today's logistics and express industry, it really feels that the changes are too fast, the sea has changed into mulberry fields.

Riddle: A plane delivers letters one by one.
Riddle: Airplane delivering mail (guess a place name) Answer: Gaoyou
This is the first time I knew about Gaoyou when I was a child. After I started working, I only knew about Gaoyou salted duck eggs, and that was all I knew about Gaoyou. Finally, when I came here, I realized that there are many stories here. Firstly, Gaoyou Lake has beautiful scenery; secondly, Zhongguo Temple is the only temple located on the island in the center of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and the Zhongguo Temple Pagoda is known as the "Southern Wild Goose Pagoda"; thirdly, Yucheng Post is a "living fossil" of China's postal stations, the largest in scale and the best preserved ancient post station in the country. Pu Songling served as a post official here. It was only after he submitted a request to the emperor for funds to repair and renovate that the large-scale water and land post station we see today was built. Wen Tianxiang was detained during his mission to negotiate peace and escaped to Gaoyou via Jingkou (Zhenjiang). He had a thrilling journey and formed a lifelong bond with Gaoyou. Qin Guan and Wang Zengqi are both from Gaoyou. The famous "Travels of Marco Polo" vividly records the operation of the postal stations and relay stations during the Yuan Dynasty, and mentions his stay at the post station in Gaoyou and the scene of the rich local products. Come to Gaoyou to learn something new!

Yucheng Post Station
The Yucheng Post Station in Gaoyou is now a World Heritage Site, a national 4A-level tourist attraction, and a national key cultural relics protection unit. It is the 'living fossil' of China's post stations, the largest and best-preserved ancient post station, and a post-transmission building left over from the Ming Dynasty. The current admission fee is 5 yuan. You can enter Nanmen Street from any small road across the street, and Yucheng Post Station is in the middle of Nanmen Street. The post station is relatively large in scale, with a drum tower above the gate, which also serves as a watchtower. As soon as you enter the gate, you will see the place where goods were received and detained at that time. The two rooms behind are where the horsemen and other personnel rest. On the right is the place for watering horses, and many old objects are still preserved. The left side is now the display area of Jingdong Logistics, which is also a combination of ancient and modern. The building is well preserved, but the gate is a bit messy.
