Two-Day One-Night Trip to Hakodate
Hakodate is not a large place, and if you don't plan to visit the suburbs, you can explore most of the attractions in two days and one night.
Day 1: Hakodate Morning Market - Red Brick Warehouses - Goryokaku - Mount Hakodate
Day 2: Onuma Quasi-National Park (wanted to see the autumn leaves) - Hachiman-zaka Slope - Yunokawa Onsen
Food Recommendations: Seafood at Hakodate Morning Market, Joker Burger, Western cuisine
This time, I bought a T'way ticket with a transfer in Korea to Sapporo ><

Yunokawa Onsen in Hakodate includes day onsen places and a monkey hot spring!
Yunokawa Onsen is considered to be one of Hokkaido's top 3 hot spring areas. It is situated next to the ocean and offers cuisine that reflects its great location. It is also just a 5-minute drive from Hakodate Airport.
About half of the people who visit the Hakodate area each year, or 1.3 million people, choose to stay at this popular area, From December to May, visitors can even watch monkeys enjoying the hot springs at the Hakodate Tropical Botanical Garden.
Many hot spring facilities at Yunokawa Onsen welcome day-trip visitors, so even those who do not stay the night can feel free to visit.
It is famously said that Takeaki Enomoto, an admiral who belonged to the Tokugawa shogunate's forces, also bathed here during the Battle of Hakodate. The hot springs have a high daily yield of 7,000 tons, and the water is smooth and crystal clear.
Accommodations at Yunokawa Onsen range from traditional Japanese inns to modern hotels. There are also plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Many visitors stay at this popular destination all year round, but a lot of people also make day-trips there as well.

Hakodate, Japan | Yunokawa Onsen
| Yunokawa Onsen. Located in the suburbs of Hakodate, Yunokawa Onsen is a famous hot spring resort among the top three hot spring towns in Hokkaido. It is convenient to travel here🚗, the transportation between the tourist spots is very developed, it takes about 30 minutes by car to reach Mount Hakodate, and it is only about 10 minutes drive from the center of Hakodate, so Yunokawa Onsen has always been popular. This time we chose Yunokawa for our trip to Japan, it is said that in winter you can see monkeys🐒 bathing in the hot springs~ In summer and autumn, you can see the swaying fishing lights🎣 of the local famous squid catching activity in the open-air bath and the guest rooms.
The hot spring town here is not as bustling as Noboribetsu, Lake Toya and Jozankei in Sapporo, it is quiet with fewer people. You can choose to stay in the hot spring hotel here, or you can go back and forth for a bath on the same day. At present, there are 8 hot spring hotels that offer day trips for hot spring experiences, with prices ranging from 400-1230 yen, it is best to bring your own towel when you come to take a hot spring bath!
After watching the monkeys bathing in the hot springs nearby, we chose a moderately priced hotel to go in for a while. Although the hotel facilities are nostalgic and simple, its large bath is facing the sea, enjoying the 100% natural hot spring while watching the waves rolling, all worries and pressures are gone in an instant!
