A Famous Landmark in Lanzhou 🇨🇳
#timetotravel
I heard a lot of people saying that this is just a bridge but upon reading about it while being there I have learned that this was the first bridge in Lanzhou over the yellow and was built by a German construction company with the help of Chinese workers. This is the reason why this has become a tourist spot and probably because of its historical significance. This bridge has become a popular landmark in Lanzhou and in Gansu Province in general. You don't need to spend a lot of time here, take some photos , walk over the bridge.
Enjoy your Lanzhou trip!

This place is beautiful both in the day and in the night. Because it's winter, during the day it's more than -10⁰ degress celcius you cant even touch the steel construction of the bridge...grrrr At night it's much worse coldness not more than- 20⁰ degress celcius. I love love love love the cold lol The bridge is beautifully light up at night....very the super the romantic....Imagine freezing cold, you walk in the arms of your love one giving warm kisses like those melodramatic romantic drama hahaha Then you stop buy at one of the restaurant along the river near the Zhongshan bridge. Many halal restaurants by the way. You slurp down a bowl of Niurou La Mian....yummy...What a perfect day.

Lanzhou mistakenly hit a day trip
Although I have been to Lanzhou several times, but every time I just eat a bowl of Lanzhou noodles, or work in the body, did not go through, this time is also going to Xinjiang to turn around I didn't expect to be mistaken in Lanzhou. I could take a day to go slowly and find that all aspects of Lanzhou's rectification are particularly good. The happiness index of the local people is really high, even if it is not weekend. On the Yellow River, there are a lot of people on the loungers, facing the Yellow River, drinking tea and chatting, a cup of tea, a plate of melon seeds, nothing at all, leisurely and self-sufficient, really have a fight with the success []
Luna..
Lanzhou must come to Zhongshan Bridge, the first bridge of the Yellow River in the world. The earliest known as the Yellow River Iron Bridge, which lasted for three years, was built with a cost of more than 306,000 silver. Who knows how much it will be converted into the current RMB?

A Lanzhou, returning to the night city
Zhangye Road Pedestrian Street is Lanzhou's most prosperous downtown area, exquisite shops, a variety of exquisite and gorgeous display, look at the ruins of the site, the rough lines of the loess pile, facing these We don't know what to do for a while. Zhongshan Bridge is a famous attraction for people who come to Lanzhou for the first time. When they arrive at night, they have no chance to see the yellow river that rushes under the bridge. Just vaguely remember, the windless night, the Yellow River is also so gentle.
The Lanzhou Yellow River Iron Bridge at night lights up, forming a beautiful picture of the Yellow River promenade along the coast, beautiful. The waterscape and the lights are integrated into one, which is extraordinarily festive and dreamlike. Specially took a tripod to photograph the night view of Zhongshan Bridge and the Yellow River, and recorded our last night in Gansu with a camera. Under the long exposure of the lens, the rushing Yellow River water seems to be still, with colorful lighting, like a layer of rich night makeup, completely different from the daytime.
Song Dongye sang in "Miss Dong": The night time of the Drum Tower is hurried/unfamiliar. Please give me a Lanzhou / so those may not be true Miss Dong. Yes, we bought Lanzhou, but found that there is no Drum Tower in Lanzhou. But Lanzhou in everyone's mind is unique, not only in the lyrics, but also in our memory.

Zhongshan Bridge over the Yellow River.
Zhongshan Bridge, also known as Lanzhou Yellow River Iron Bridge, is an iron bridge located in Chengguan District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, spanning the Yellow River. It is not only a landmark building in Lanzhou, but also the first real bridge on the 5,464-kilometer Yellow River, so it is known as the "First Bridge over the Yellow River".
The history of Zhongshan Bridge can be traced back to its construction on May 9, 1908 (the 34th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty). At that time, the Gansu Foreign Affairs Bureau signed a contract with the German Taeli Foreign Company to introduce foreign technology for construction. After more than a year of construction, it was completed and opened to traffic on August 19, 1909 (the first year of Xuantong in the Qing Dynasty). Initially, the bridge was named "Lanzhou Yellow River Iron Bridge". Later, in 1928 (the 17th year of the Republic of China), it was renamed "Zhongshan Bridge" in memory of Mr. Sun Yat-sen.
Zhongshan Bridge is a four-pier and five-hole iron bridge with a total length of 233.5 meters and a width of 8.36 meters. Each hole has a span of 45.9 meters. Its upper structure is a trapezoidal through-type steel truss. Each span is composed of rectangular and diagonal bracing members. The design is simple and clear, without redundant decoration, reflecting the application of new materials, new structures, new processes, and new technologies in the industrial age of the 20th century in spatial structures.
Zhongshan Bridge not only carries traffic on both sides of the Yellow River, but also a business card of Lanzhou city culture. In 2004, Lanzhou City carried out the most thorough and large-scale repair and reinforcement of the Lanzhou Yellow River Iron Bridge, ending its nearly 100-year history of traffic, and became a permanent pedestrian bridge, becoming a landmark building for Lanzhou tourism.
In addition, Zhongshan Bridge also has an important military strategic position in history, especially during the Anti-Japanese War. As the only bridge spanning the Yellow River on the two east-west passages of Gansu and Xinjiang, and Xilan, it became a key bridge for logistical support during the Anti-Japanese War.
Zhongshan Bridge is not only a traffic structure project, but also reflects the style, genre, and characteristics of the architectural art development history during the Westernization Movement in modern Chinese history. The combination of power and beauty shown in its large-scale structural buildings has high artistic expressiveness, appeal and aesthetic value.
Zhongshan Bridge was listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit in Lanzhou City in 1989 and was announced as the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units in 2006.
Today's Zhongshan Bridge is a landmark building in Lanzhou City and an important milestone in the history of modern bridge construction in China. It is open all day and free to tourists, making it a popular place for Lanzhou citizens to take a leisurely stroll and tourists to sightsee.

Lanzhou Treasure Hotel!!! It's a great place to stay!!!
👉🏿A treasure projection hotel found in Lanzhou Pedestrian Street!! It's very close to Zhongshan Bridge, Baita Mountain and the Provincial Museum!
👉🏿The treasure can take a look at this relatively cheap location in advance when coming to Lanzhou! !!!
👉🏿This hotel is hidden in the old alley, the design is very novel, you can experience the feeling of being quiet in the middle of trouble! The layout of the room is very reasonable, dry and wet separation, the choice of bedding is also very good, it is super comfortable to sleep!
👉🏿It's also very close to the snack street. We went downstairs and walked to eat beef noodles early in the morning. There are various delicacies such as hand-grabbing, putting, grilling, and grilling around. It's very convenient! There is also a subway station downstairs, which is super convenient to go out and play!
👉🏿The whole house is intelligent, directly controlled by Xiaomei's voice, such as curtains and lights, which is very convenient! The projector has Tencent VIP to watch movies very conveniently. The most important point is that the sound insulation is very good! This is really the gospel of light sleepers!!
👉🏿We stayed for three nights, went out to play every morning, and when we came back at night, the room had been cleaned, and the room projection was turned on with customer service QR code, and any problems were directly WeChat, and the reply was super timely! Really intimate!

On the afternoon of September 6, 2024, after finishing the sightseeing at Zhongshan Bridge at 19:10, the lights were just coming on, and a light drizzle began to fall from the sky. We happened to come to the 8th-floor food court in the Eurasia Shopping Mall to look for dinner. Although there are countless delicious dishes in Lanzhou, most of them are mainly beef and mutton, which unfortunately do not suit our taste. So, we had a simple fish meal at the restaurant 'Fish Together'. We each had a serving of Old Pickled Cabbage Fish and Princess Tomato Fish. The taste was quite good.

Lanzhou! The pinnacle of culinary delights in my heart! Weekend trip from Chengdu!
In my stereotypical image, Lanzhou has always been distant, flavored with the essence of a small frontier town by the Yellow River and the sands, but this trip has completely changed my mind. Lanzhou is a tourist city where delicious food and leisure coexist!
🗓 Itinerary:
Departing from Chengdu to Lanzhou, take the sleeper train on Friday (book a few days in advance and you can get a lower bunk for only 208) leaving at 21:30 and arrive at Lanzhou Station early the next morning! Right across from the train station, there's the cheap and hearty Lanzhou beef noodles, low in price and great in taste!
🌟 Highlights:
In Lanzhou, you can eat eight meals a day, the lamb has no muttony smell whether it's stewed or hand-grabbed, and it's very, very delicious😋 and the prices are very affordable
The lamb skewers in the alleys near the night market are super fragrant at two yuan a skewer~ The stuffed pancake and sweet pancake are flavors you can't stop thinking about before going to sleep!
Any hotpot restaurant you choose under the hotel is delicious enough to make you eat three bowls of rice🤤
By the Yellow River near Zhongshan Bridge, there's a long row of teahouses. In the evening, you can order a cup of tea and watch the Zhongshan Bridge light up, see the brightly lit boat houses on the opposite shore, and feel the evening breeze brushing through the willows.
In Lanzhou, I experienced the true essence of travel. The worries of work and the pressures of life cannot be relieved by just checking in, taking photos, and moving on. It is only through enjoying the food and the relaxation that you realize the true meaning of earning money is for this moment, to enjoy life, without thinking about work, dieting, or what others think, just happiness.

Zhongshan Bridge and the Yellow River
In 1372, Song Guo Gong Feng Sheng built a pontoon bridge 7 km west of Lanzhou City, and five years later, Wei Guo Gong Deng Yu moved the pontoon bridge to a location 5 km further west, naming it 'Zhenyuan Bridge'. In 1385, the bridge was relocated to its current position. In 1907, the Qing government utilized German and American technology to construct an iron bridge over the Yellow River and named it 'Lanzhou Yellow River Iron Bridge'. In 1942, it was renamed to its current name.
Now, it has developed into a tourist spot, a bridge that only allows pedestrian traffic and serves as a key attraction in downtown Lanzhou.

The Zhongshan Bridge in Lanzhou, also known as the 'Yellow River Iron Bridge', is a landmark of Lanzhou City and one of the most important bridges over the Yellow River. Spanning the wide Yellow River, it connects the north and south banks of Lanzhou, witnessing the vicissitudes of the city. Designed by an American bridge company and constructed by the German company Tai Lai Foreign Firm, it was opened to traffic in the first year of Xuantong in the Qing Dynasty (1909). In 1928, to commemorate Mr. Sun Yat-sen, the 'Yellow River Iron Bridge' was renamed 'Zhongshan Bridge'. The Zhongshan Bridge is known as the 'First Bridge over the Yellow River' and is a key national cultural relic protection unit.
The construction of the Zhongshan Bridge officially began on May 9, 1908. The bridge was completed and opened to traffic on August 19, 1909. The original structure did not have the arched steel frame on top, which was added in 1954 to make the bridge more beautiful and sturdy. The Zhongshan Iron Bridge is 233.5 meters long and 8.36 meters wide in total, with the Baita Mountain on the north side and Zhongshan Road on the south side. To better protect this old bridge, motor vehicle traffic has been prohibited since 2013.
The Zhongshan Bridge has four piers and five spans, with each span being 45.9 meters. The upper structure is a trapezoidal through-type steel truss, and each span is a statically indeterminate structure forming a truss system, with vertical steel frames divided into five rectangles, plus diagonal bracing members, forming a clear and rhythmic facade. The Zhongshan Iron Bridge consists of an upper structure (the bridge body) and a lower structure (the bridge piers). The Yellow River Iron Bridge in Lanzhou is 233.5 meters long and 8.36 meters wide, with a 6-meter-wide roadway and 1-meter-wide pedestrian walkways on both sides.
The Zhongshan Bridge, with its simple and firm aesthetic, stands quietly on the banks of the Yellow River like a warrior in plain clothes. It is not a treasure of traditional Chinese architecture, but a modern symphony composed of new materials, new structures, new technologies, and new processes. Every steel beam and every stone embodies advanced construction and management wisdom. Here, the spatial structure is not just a bridge but a symbol of the spirit of the industrial age, a crystallization of human intelligence and courage.
The lower structure of the Yellow River Iron Bridge in Lanzhou consists of 2 bridge abutments and 4 piers, excavated to the rock layer. The materials of the piers and abutments are different; the south abutment is built of strip stones, while the north abutment is made of concrete. The upper part of the first pier on the south side is mortar-laid strip stones, and the lower part is concrete. The upper parts of the remaining three piers are concrete, and the lower parts are mortar-laid rubble. From 2010 to 2011, the tops of the piers were cast in concrete to raise them by 1.2 meters.
The bridge body of the Yellow River Iron Bridge was originally a through-type steel truss with a total of 5 spans, each with a span of 45.9 meters and a total length of 233.5 meters; each span consists of 2 trusses, totaling 10 trusses; each truss has 9 sections, each section being 5.1 meters. The truss crossbeams are steel beams, and the railings are welded from angle iron and steel pipes. The bridge body consists of five arched steel frame arches, and the bridge deck is made of iron plates.
The Zhongshan Bridge has now become a dazzling pearl of Lanzhou City. When night falls, the lights on the bridge twinkle like stars, brilliant and dazzling, as if draping the ancient city in a modern halo. It stands quietly over the Yellow River, witnessing the passage of time and the changes of the era, yet still maintaining its unique charm. Here, the ancient and modern intertwine, and tradition and innovation merge. With its unique charm, the Zhongshan Bridge attracts countless eyes and has become an indispensable famous attraction in Lanzhou City. Whether day or night, it quietly guards the city, witnessing its prosperity and changes.

Gansu, there's more than just spicy hot pot!
Today, I've organized a travel journal for the babies heading to the golden city of Lanzhou.
Departing from Xi'an by high-speed train🚅, it takes just 2.5 hours to reach Lanzhou West Station~ Gansu is so hot🔥 right now, interested babies should take advantage of the weekend and set off. You can spend one day as a special forces soldier, or take two days to leisurely stroll around (the temperature difference between day and night is significant, remember to bring a coat).
Accommodation: I recommend staying near Xiguan, close to Zhongshan Bridge, the snack street, the museum, and various attractions!
City transportation🚗: Buses and taxis are very convenient, and by the way, Lanzhou's taxis are colorful.
Must-visit attractions📸:
✅Gansu Museum: Treasures of the Silk Road await your discovery, a cultural feast not to be missed, and there are various funny cultural and creative dolls like 'Horse Stepping on a Flying Swallow' worth seeing. (Book in advance, no admission fee, enter with your ID card, closed on Mondays!)
✅Dunhuang Art Gallery: A one-to-one replica of the Mogao Caves, free of charge, interested babies can go take a look, and it's also great for taking photos.
✅Zhongshan Bridge: The breeze of history caresses your cheeks, stepping from the past into the present. The neon lights of the iron bridge make the night view even more enticing.
✅Baita Mountain Park: Climb high for a distant view, the sharp spire of the white pagoda is like a brushstroke, depicting the tranquil and bustling intertwined scene of Lanzhou. Overlooking the whole city, Lanzhou's night view is like Manhattan at night🌃.
✅Waterwheel Expo Park: The large waterwheel🌊, the rotating years, ancient irrigation methods, experience the diligence and wisdom of the people by the Yellow River.
✅Stroll by the Yellow River: Sit by the Yellow River and have a cup of Sanpaotai, listen to the waves, watch the sunset sprinkle golden light across the river, and enjoy a romantic moment. The brave babies can also try the sheepskin raft, I took a speedboat ride, and the river breeze was also beautiful.
✅Mother of the Yellow River Statue: The spiritual symbol of Lanzhou, a must-visit when in Lanzhou.
Food recommendations🍜:
🉑Fang Ha: Lanzhou's specialty chain milk tea shop, sweet embryo milk tea, sweet embryo has the feel of fermented glutinous rice but the texture is like pearls, chewy and surprisingly suitable with milk tea.
🉑Haijia Chuan Chuan Spicy Hot Pot: The popular Gansu spicy hot pot, red oil chili, although it looks spicy, it's actually fragrant, especially fragrant when wrapped around various vegetables, and with a serving of hand-pulled noodles, it's incredibly delicious.
🉑Beef Noodles: Really, any place is delicious, I like to eat thin noodles, served with hot soup, tea eggs, and large slices of beef, so fragrant.
🉑Zai Hui Shou: A collection of local snacks, spicy tripe mix, grey beans, potato cakes, just follow the bestsellers, you can't go wrong.
There's also Lanzhou barbecue, yogurt, all kinds of lamb. Zhengning Road night market, Nanguan night market, just wander and eat, in short, there are too many delicious things in Lanzhou, this foodie is fully satisfied.
Lanzhou's attractions are quite concentrated and mostly free of charge, and there's a lot of special food, it's really suitable for workers to relax on the weekend, rush

Northwest 7-Day Tour | Day3 One-day Tour of Lanzhou City
Northwest 7-Day Tour | Day3 One-day Tour of Lanzhou City||One-day Tour of Lanzhou City
Due to some personal reasons, I needed to go to Lanzhou halfway through, so I planned a one-day tour in Lanzhou
1. Statue of the Mother of the Yellow River (not recommended, it's just a statue, but you can go down to the banks of the Yellow River for a stroll, I skipped stones for more than ten minutes, succeeded once haha
2. Zhongshan Bridge + White Pagoda Temple, highly recommended, written together because they are next to each other, cross the Zhongshan Bridge and you can climb up to the White Pagoda Temple, I love climbing, so recommended!! And you can overlook the city, during the New Year period there are also temple fair performances which are very lively
3. Lanzhou University, not recommended during the New Year period, the school is empty and the buildings are all locked, you can't experience much, after the New Year when there are more students you can take a look at the student atmosphere, visit the teaching buildings and canteen~
4. Santai Pavilion + Northwest Manhattan Night View, a must-visit! Look at my night view photos, no need for me to say more, arrive at the mountain base after five, the driver charges 10 yuan per person to take you up the mountain, reach the top around six to wait for the sunset, after the sunset the city will gradually light up
5. Back to Zhongshan Bridge, the riverside is full of fireworks, so beautiful~
A few suggestions
⚠️Recommend the Provincial Museum, but you need to book in advance, I missed the chance
⚠️The reservation time for Lanzhou University is not important, it mainly depends on real-name authentication, so if the number for the day is booked up you can book another time for the same campus
⚠️Temple fair performances may be suspended when there are too many people, don't be disappointed
⚠️You can't see "I❤️Lanzhou" from Santai Pavilion, if you want to see it you can stop halfway
⚠️Santai Pavilion is full of bright lights, if you take photos the picture will be very white, you can use your hand to block between the lens and the bright light (not between the lens and the scenery) to eliminate the white light
⚠️The top of the mountain is not like the city, the wind is very strong, be sure to wear more
