As soon as you get off the car, you can smell the sea flavor. The streets are small, clean, and slow-paced. Perfect for a half-day walk. Highlights · The town is just the right size, stress-free to walk · Centralized café, restaurant, easy to rest · The seaside light is steady and beautiful for photos · -- 🌉 Forth Bridge | The most iconic red iron bridge Walk to the sea and you will see Forth Bridge. The red iron frame is spectacular. Up close it looks like a huge sculpture. Recommended · Sunset light is the most beautiful, the bridge body will warm · There are many benches by the sea, sit down and watch slowly · Suitable for shooting reflections, bridge body lines · -- 🌊 Harbor Walk | The relaxation of the seaside trail Walk along the seaside. Light wind, open view, The sound of the tide is healing. It is the most comfortable location in Queensferry. Highlights · The trail is flat and suitable for a relaxing stroll · Stable sea views for portraits or scenery · You can see the other side in good weather · -- 🏘 Small Streets and Slope | Quiet corners of small towns Leave the seaside and enter the small streets of the town. Stone houses, slopes, small windows, It's all very story-telling. Sitting by the window watching the bridge, drinking hot drinks, It will feel like time is slowing down. Lovely Experience.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and features an elegant lobby and restaurant, creating a great initial impression. Parking is complimentary, though you need to register your car at the reception. The room was lovely, with a comfortable mattress—offering much better value than any hotel closer to Edinburgh. We previously paid 50% more at the Moxy in Edinburgh, which was a disappointment. The room had coffee and tea amenities, USB charging ports, soft towels, and high-quality shower gel, though there was no shampoo. The shower was modern, easy to use, and impeccably clean. Air conditioning in the room was a fantastic bonus, perfect for handling summer heat—a feature that's not always common. The huge TV with Sky Sports allowed me to enjoy the F1 Grand Prix, which was awesome. The room also featured a desk and armchair, providing plenty of space. While the restaurant isn't inexpensive, the food quality was outstanding—ideal for romantic dinners that locals might enjoy. We especially loved the scallops, lamb, chicken, and frito misto. The wines were excellent, and the whisky selection was impressive. We stayed for two nights before heading home and couldn’t have been happier with our experience.

A pleasant stroll with picturesque views of a 15th-century ruined castle/house. We really liked wandering through the woodland by the stream located on the left as you exit the castle. Free parking is a bonus, and the gift shop along with the coffee stand are both quite charming.

We went to Midhope because of our fondness for the TV series Outlander. The site is wonderful to explore, but only the exterior is accessible—not the interior. Even so, you can really get a sense of the history and atmosphere. There’s plenty to take in, including a stroll by the river to spot other filming locations. It’s a true must-see for fans of the show. Highly recommended!

Our guided tour with Pete (@ScotlandsWild) was absolutely incredible. The site is stunning, and it’s so kind of the owners to let visitors explore the grounds, even though the interior is closed for repairs. The archway is truly iconic, and the steps are an ideal spot for photos. This Lollybroch location is absolutely fantastic for any Outlander fans!

The location is signposted from the main road. Parking was a bit tricky since the signs seemed to suggest no parking anywhere, though it’s possible they simply want to keep a clear path to the gate for the grass cutters. The museum was open and quite interesting, although guidebooks had unfortunately sold out. While the church was locked, it’s still fascinating to observe the different aisles, rooms, and details of the church walls. The graveyard had been freshly mowed and appears very scenic.

We returned here for our wedding anniversary, having spent our wedding night at this location nine years ago. It’s just as beautifully decorated as we remembered. The service, along with all the small thoughtful details, was exceptional. Both the evening meal and breakfast were delightful and absolutely spot on. Thank you—we look forward to coming back again soon.

As huge enthusiasts of Outlander, stopping by Lallybroch was essential for us. During our family holiday and in celebration of our wedding anniversary, we decided to make the trip. My wife's face lit up with happiness at the sight of this stunning location. Our children also had a wonderful time, especially exploring the surrounding area.

The National Wallace Monument Standing 67 metres tall on the shoulders of Abbey Craig, a hilltop overlooking Stirling in Scotland.. It commemorates Sir William Wallace, a 13th- and 14th-century Scottish hero. The tower is open to the public for an admission fee. Views from the hilltop towards Ben Lomond mentioned in the song the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond. The Firth of Forth is spanned by three iconic bridges: the Forth Bridge, the Forth Road Bridge, and the Queensferry Crossing. These bridges, built in different eras, represent significant engineering achievements and collectively form a vital transportation link between Edinburgh and Fife. I hope you enjoy these images. As always stout walking shoes or hiking boots are recommended for these walks and walking poles, while not essential, will aid your balance. An umbrella is a useful item to have in your rucksack especially as it rains a lot in the British Isles. Check the weather forecast before you leave the house.

The location is great with ample parking and friendly personnel. The room was alright, but there were a few issues, and it was chilly. There was no plant-based milk—who still uses cow’s milk in 2025? Only two little coffees were available. Other aspects were fine. Both breakfast and dinner were good, with friendly and knowledgeable staff.

We were gifted a voucher for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast and chose to stay from Sunday to Monday, opting for a late Sunday lunch and the Bed & Breakfast. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the reception team, who provided all the necessary information. The room was spotless and equipped with everything we needed. Our 3-course lunch was outstanding—the best Sunday lunch we've had in ages. For our anniversary, we received complimentary Champagne, and the service was exceptional with at least three different staff members attending to us, nothing being too much trouble. After the meal, we were presented with a plate reading "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate along with Turkish delight and chocolates, a lovely touch. Breakfast was superb with a wide variety and excellent service again. We'd like to express our gratitude to Kirsty and all the staff; we will certainly return. Ann and Andy Brown

The proprietor of the B&B greeted us warmly upon our arrival, despite it being quite late in the afternoon. The UK weather was delightful, letting us sleep peacefully with open windows. Next to the property is a deer park, easily accessible to walkers. Breakfast was cooked on demand and served in the lounge/dining area. Each room features a distinct lounge/dining space, a kitchenette, sizable bedroom, and large bathroom. The bathroom is too spacious to be termed an ensuite. A communal laundry was also available for guests.

Okay… I thought I’d seen it all while travelling, but nothing prepared me for The Burryman in South Queensferry! Every year on the second Friday in August, a local man gets completely covered head to toe in sticky burrs and flowers, then walks through town being handed drams of whiskey through a straw from the pubs! 🥃 No one really knows why it started… Some say it’s to bring luck, others call it an old pagan ritual, but it’s honestly one of the quirkiest and most charming traditions you’ll ever see! The whole town gets involved, the atmosphere is buzzing, and the poor guy somehow powers through hours of walking (and whiskey!) 😅 If you’re ever near Edinburgh in August, make a day trip to South Queensferry to catch it. Trains run there regularly, and it’s a short walk down from the station. Trust me you’ll be talking about The Burryman long after your hangover’s gone!
