Seeing the Swan
Chu Lulu Lake on the shore of the Kussharo Lake is the largest lake in the Akanmo Week National Park. There are several hot springs on the southeast side that can be bathed. In winter, the lake will freeze, but because there are hot springs in the ground, some of the high-heated ice melts, and four to five hundred swans inhabit each year.
First come to the sand soup. There is a hot spring pouring out of the sand at the lakeside. If you are interested, you can dig a pool to make an open-air hot spring. Although the weather was good, the wind blew very cold, and almost thought that the swan would not be able to skip this place, and it was hiding on the other side. The nearby store can buy salt-free popcorn to feed the swan.
Then go to Gome Hot Springs. This open-air hot spring facing the Kussha Lake has been cleaned regularly by locals. The dressing room is divided into men and women. The pool is one, with a rock partition in the middle. You can wear a towel or bathrobe to soak. Looking at the scenery of the distant mountains is very beautiful, the swan is swimming around, but the winter is too cold, quickly pat the swan, wrap the clothes on the body, no courage to make hot springs.

Autumn Foliage Trip in Eastern Hokkaido
For those who have been to or are planning to visit Hokkaido, we think few people plan to go to the eastern side. Most tend to go to the western side. Today, we recommend trying to visit Eastern Hokkaido. The most convenient way is to rent a car and drive. We traveled from October 15-25, which is the peak season for autumn foliage. The scenery was truly worth the effort. The drive was mesmerizing with yellow, orange, and red leaves all along the way. The weather is colder than the western side. Give it a try, we are confident that everyone will fall in love and want to visit again.
Enjoy nature on a trip to Eastern Hokkaido
Recommended spots in Eastern Hokkaido (tourism)
Here are some recommended sightseeing spots in Teshikaga Town 🍀*゜
[Recommended spots]
1. Lake Mashu
A caldera lake surrounded by mountains on all sides. The water from the lake is used as water for daily life in the surrounding area.
The view from the second observation deck is recommended 👀
If you're lucky...
You can see a sea of clouds in the morning and a starry sky at night ✨
2. Mount Iou
One of the active volcanoes that is still active.
You can walk close to the sulfur crater 🙆♀️
3. Lake Kussharo Eco Tours
Canoe tour down the Kushiro River that connects to Lake Kussharo.
You can take photos and dip your feet in the water while listening to the guide's explanation.
It was a time to feel nature 🙌
4. Bihoro Pass
Bihoro Pass is located on a small hill.
You can look down on the vast Lake Kussharo and get a real sense of the lake's vastness.
There is a monument to Misora Hibari's song "Bihoro Pass".
5. Kaminoko Pond
It is called "Kaminoko" Pond because it is made from underground water from Lake Mashu.
The water temperature is said to be maintained at 8℃ throughout the year💭
I was surprised at how ice cold the water was👀
[Other points]
★Parking tickets for Lake Mashu + Mt. Iou are available.
You can park your car in both parking lots by paying 500 yen at each parking lot.
★Insect repellent is essential (from summer to autumn)
If you are going to Kaminoko Pond, insect repellent spray is a must! There are a lot of horseflies, so be sure to take measures against insects...

[Hokkaido] Panoramic view of Lake Mashu, where you can feel the natural surroundings
I had only heard of Lake Mashu.
The reason why Lake Mashu is famous is because it is the second most transparent caldera lake in the world, but the view from here is even more spectacular.
Perhaps it is because of its high transparency, but beauty does not require logic, it just makes you want to accept the emotions you feel.
It may be Lake Mashu where you can be moved by the vast scale of Hokkaido's nature, with its mountains, lake, sky, and clouds.

[Hokkaido] Waiting for the sun to go down at Bihoro Pass
As the sun sets, many people gather at Bihoro Pass to catch a glimpse of its beauty.
The panoramic view in front of you offers a panoramic view of Lake Kussharo, Japan's largest caldera lake.
The lake is surrounded by beautiful mountains, and the gradation of the mountains and water touches your heart.
On this day, there were many clouds covering the area, and a ray of light peeking through the gaps was very fantastic.
Also, if the conditions are right, you can see a sea of clouds from here in the early morning at Bihoro Pass, and at night the stars shine beautifully.
Bihoro Pass has many different faces, but I would like to see it in a different situation.

Warm up at the free sand bath at Lake Kussharo in Hokkaido!
Hokkaido's image as a place rich in nature is absolutely correct.
Places rich in nature don't try to charge you; they are as generous as nature itself.
Moreover, they lend you a shovel, so you can dig the sand yourself.
In some spots, hot springs with temperatures around 50 degrees Celsius may emerge, so finding the perfect spot is key to enjoying the sand bath.
Sit on a bench, gaze at the lake, and relax in the sand bath for the ultimate healing experience.
Bring your own towel, and make sure to brush off the sand after the bath to avoid any injuries.

Hokkaido Kussharo Lake Sand Bath Hot Spring
When you dig out the black sand beside the lake, hot spring water will overflow. The warm water attracts thousands of swans and other birds to migrate from cold Siberia to spend the winter.
I saw many families digging sand to prepare for hot springs♨️
[Hokkaido] The only place to visit in winter! Lake Mashu No. 1 Observation Deck
Lake Mashu is one of the most transparent lakes in the world. The bowl-shaped lake can be viewed from an observation deck located around its edge. There are several observation decks, but in winter, only the first observation deck is accessible due to snowfall.
From the first observation deck, you can get a panoramic view of the beautiful Lake Mashu. However, since it is on top of a mountain, it can sometimes be hidden by clouds, so it's all down to luck. The area directly below the observation deck seems to be the territory of deer, and many deer gathered there. However, since they are wild deer, please only view them from a distance. Do not touch or feed them under any circumstances.

Lake Kussharo is pretty and relatively untouristed. The white swan on the lake was not seen at all, because it was integrated with the snow. Until come to shore of lake, the swan appeared in droves.
There is such a legend in Lake Mashū. If a couple sees theLake Mashū under the clear sky, then the wedding period will be postponed. If you can't see the lake, then love will last for a long time. It was not too foggy when we visited at this viewpoint, good sign!
To ask what color is the water in Mo Zhou Lake, the answers are different in different seasons and different angles, and it may not be seen at all! Some official websites call it "the last sanctuary on the ground", although exaggerated, it also highlights its mystery.
This volcanic lake is 351 meters above sea level, the deepest part is 211.4 meters, and the area is larger than the Akan Lake. Surrounded by cliffs of three or four hundred meters, it is said to be the most transparent lake in the world because it does not flow in and out without impurities.
There is often fog on the lake, especially in June and July (see Figure 9). There is an old song called "Mo Zhou Lake in the fog", and there are several legends about the fog of Mo Zhou Lake. If a couple can't see the lake because of the fog, it will last for a long time. If the unmarried person sees the lake without fog, What will delay the wedding period, may be to comfort the visitors who can not see the scenery here.
Hokkaido in winter is always a plan to keep up with the changes.
Original plan: JR Kushiro to Chuanyu Hot Springs for sightseeing bus.
Actual: Because of the blizzard, all the cars stopped. JR stopped at the Mozhan Station in advance. We were trapped at the Mo Zhou Station. The staff said that all the buses to Lake Mashu in the afternoon were gone. There is no taxi in this place. You can only wait for the Meiliu and Line bus to Chuantang Hot Spring Station in the afternoon.
Today's itinerary is a bubble. All the attractions along the Mo Zhou Lake and Chuan Tang Hot Springs are closed. We went to a place, 2 km from Chuantang Hot Spring Station and a round trip to Sulphur Mountain.
Kawagawa Onsen Station is a very small unmanned station. There is no staff in the small station. There is no heating. There is only one small restaurant. There is a timetable in the restaurant. Fortunately, there is a hot spring near the station. The pool, finally, drove the cold of the body. Although the small station is small, there is no train passing after the station is closed, so you can take pictures as much as you can. After dark, the station was getting colder and colder, and the temperature of the phone showed 12 degrees below zero.
The volcanoes of the Sulphur Mountain are shrouded in sulphur throughout the year, and from a long distance you can smell the sulphur.
There are many large and small jet holes from the foothills of the Sulphur Mountain to the top of the mountain. The sulphur-rich water vapor is continuously sprayed with strong momentum, and the nearby area is covered with a strong sulfur smell. The picture shows that the surrounding stones have been smoked when viewing its sulfur vents from close range.
Come to the sulfur mountain must eat boiled eggs, I heard that one can live a hundred years old, I ate a few in one breath! Standard is egg, milk, milk
Lake Mashu is located in a lake in the Kawasaki-cho, Kawakami-gun, in the eastern part of Hokkaido, Japan. It is a volcanic lake and is the most transparent lake in Japan. It was listed as a Hokkaido heritage in 2001. When I went, it was cold, although the cold wind blew my whole person frozen, but it was amazing when I saw the quiet and sacred Lake Mashu.
It is said that there is not much time when Lake Mu Zhou can see the whole picture all year round. If you are lucky enough to see the Lake of the Week at the sunny day, this is very lucky~
In the Akan National Park in winter, the Lake of Kussha Lake is frozen, but because of the hot spring water flowing from the lake, the sand pool next to the lake not only does not freeze, but also attracts many white swans from Siberia to spend the winter here.
Walk by the lake, in the distance is the snow-capped mountains and the vast lake. Beside the beautiful swans, the fairyland is just like this.
The place where you can enjoy the swan has the sand soup mentioned before, and there is another wonderful place where you can watch the swan while dancing in the open air. The Gudan Hot Spring Bath, hidden in the southeast corner of Kussha Lake, is such a place.
It is extremely secretive. The outer road is a few locals-run inns and restaurants. It takes dozens of walks to walk to the lake to see the open-air bath built with stones on the lakeside. In the middle of the bath, a large stone separates the male and female parts.
No roof, no luxurious dressing room, no shower space, wooden to create a rough dressing room and simple fence, but the perfect blend with the scenery here, pure natural without adding, really a wild taste.
Look around the white snow lake, the mountains stretched, there are swan companions in the vicinity, sitting in the beautiful scenery, why should we stick to the secular taboo? This top-notch Gudan Spa is completely free. An old man will come here regularly to clean the bath to maintain the hot springs. The founder of the hot spring was originally built to reward the tourists and locals who could come here, so there was no willingness to charge.
Qulu Lake is located in the volcanic zone and is affected by nearby volcanic activities. There is a hot spring at the bottom of the lake. There are also many volcanoes and natural geothermal hot springs near the lake
. The main hot springs near Kussha Lake include Renfu Hot Spring, Heqin Hot Spring, Sanxiang Hot Spring and Shatang Hot Spring. On the west bank of Lake Qufu Road, geothermal hot springs will emerge from the ground. Known as the sand soup, this landscape is a famous landscape on the shore of Lake Kussharo.
Because of the cold winter, there are hot springs on the shore of the lake. The warm lake has become the winter home of wild swans. Therefore, every winter, there are dozens or even hundreds of swans, so I gave it up. The name of "Swan Lake". Sand soup is a nature reserve, but it does not surround the animals like ours. We can get close to these lovely swans. As soon as the car stopped, we heard the sound of the swan coming from the lake. Five or sixty swan swam in the lake, or screamed at the neck, or slap the wings to chase each other, and it was very lively. The swan's wings are graceful, but when they fall on the ice, they are not so elegant. Because they are too slippery, they must walk carefully and sway and slowly walk down into the lake. I don't know what the swan is like. I made up for the picture. Unfortunately, their big feet are awkward, but they are still relatively stable and have not given me this opportunity.
The Lake of Kussharo in winter has a pure beauty. The snow covered the hues of the surrounding mountains, the lake was frozen, and only ink was left between the heavens and the earth. As the second largest crater lake in the world, the rich geothermal heat has distributed many hot springs along the lake. It is the warmth of this ice that attracts more than 500 swan to spend the winter here.
We came to the hot springs at the lake at 6 am. The rolling snow-capped mountains have not yet awakened, and the white water vapor is floating on the narrow lake without ice. The whole world presents an attractive blue. A big swan didn't know what time it had already flown here, swimming, fake, and the orange-colored mouth was cut through the mist. There is a feeling of loneliness and sorrow between the heavens and the earth.
When the third swan appeared, the sun had already passed through the entire Kussha Lake, and the big swans flew in groups from the jungle across the lake. They are flying almost on the frozen lake, bending and hovering as they approach the hot springs, and slashing the tranquility of the Kussharo Lake in an elegant posture. You can buy popcorn that the big swan loves in the visitor center. When they get the "maximum reward", they will flap their wings and play, sing high songs and soar above the snowy peaks under the blue sky as a reward for people.
The most enjoyable is the dusk on the lakeside. The visitors are far away and there is no flaw. Sitting in the open-air Gudan Hot Springs, wearing a bath towel, facing the rolling snow-capped mountains, guarding the gentle sunset, drinking pure sake, watching the sky being dyed into blush, the last big swan reluctantly came ashore, started, Flying, screaming, and plunging into the last evening of the other side.
