Taichung Xitun 24-Hour Late Night Chicken Rice - Hongjia Turkey Rice
Address: No. 45, Section 3, Liming Road, Xitun District, Taichung City, Taiwan 407
Atmosphere/Facilities: Ground floor storefront, no decoration, dine-in and take-out available
Specialties: Chicken Rice, Braised Chicken Rice
Average Price: 100 TWD
Rating: Located on Liming Road near Taiwan Boulevard, this 24-hour turkey rice shop has been featured in newspapers and food shows. Originally used American turkey, but switched to local chicken due to import issues. The rice is chewy with a strong flavor of chicken oil and fried shallots. The taste is on the salty side, making it a good match with rice. You can upgrade to a bento with three side dishes, but they are usually greasy and sometimes cold. The fried egg quality is hit or miss. Generally, the shop prepares the food in advance and waits for customers to order. If you want hot vegetables, you need to order boiled vegetables or braised cabbage separately. The soup is ordinary and also on the salty side. The meat in the pork rib soup is a bit tough. The cold side dishes are tasty but in small portions. The marinated tofu is very flavorful.
Overall, apart from the chicken rice and braised chicken rice, the other side dishes are quite average. They offer late-night options other than soy milk. The shop has many signs warning against causing trouble, suggesting that there might have been incidents during late-night hours.
Taiwan pork congee 🥣
#2024wish
Randomly found this pork porridge online that has many good reviews and decided to check it out. It’s hidden in a Hole in the wall, just by the side of the street. But that’s where the hood food is! The look of the congee might look plain and unassuming but don’t underestimate the pork congee. It’s Very flavorful and delicate. It’s a good choice to enjoy it before starting a long day of tour !
