Best Fishball Noodles in Johor!
#wheretogo
I was fortunate enough to be going on a field trip with my family from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur! We were feeling peckish and decided to stop by a small town called Yong Peng.
We picked Yuan Yean eating house as it has the most cars outside, which only means good food!
We ordered their traditional noodle set and added on some fried dumplings, Yong Tau Foo and the famous Muar Otah!
The noodles were very springy, with the chilli given together packing a punch, you can’t miss this! The fishballs were really bouncy and delicious. Please also try the Muar Otah, the fish chunks were HUGE!
I’ll give it a solid 4 stars and I’ll be back if I’m in the area.

Aesthetically Stunning Monbléu Cafe
As promised, this was the cafe we came across at Yong Peng. I noticed it on our way there but had no opportunity to stop by and made sure we visit on our way back.
It is an industial-style cafe (think concrete floors and walls) with monochromatic palette and a hint of brighter colours. Contrary to how I feel about industrial design (cold, lack of warmth), I was surprised at how comfortable the cafe made me feel. The blend of natural and artifical lightings lifts the supposedly dark and moody ambience - a touch of ingenuity.
Monbléu Cafe sells mainly beverages with limited choice of food. We ordered Houjicha and mocha - the Houjicha came in a very pretty ceramic cup which they also sell. I was so tempted to buy but my husband stopped me as we have too many cups at home. A woman can't have too many cups can they?
The Houjicha tastes decent and the mocha is great! If you are a coffee lover, this is a place you would not want to miss at Yong Peng. I even enquired for the coffee beans they are using as I want to buy some back but unfortunately they don't sell beans for machine, just for drip.
This was also the place where I learnt about the differences between coffee beans for machine and drip - espresso beans are roasted longer, with bolder flavour and can withstand high pressure brewing methods (with espresso machine). Regular beans are roasted for a shorter period, lighter in flavour and good for brewing methods that don't require high pressure.
Overall, this is a good place for a midpoint rest on a roadtrip!

yong peng - a pit stop to Genting highlands
one hour drive away from Tuas checkpoint would be the infamous yong ping eating area which many Singaporeans would be familiar with. many coaches love to stop here for a meal and it has been there for so many years.
recommended by our bff, we tried the Nasi lemak rm11.50 at 9plus and the chicken wing was well battered, rice was steaming warm with superb chilli sauce.
there was this waffle shop recommended by anothe bff so we ordered a peanut waffle rm5 from them too!
on our way back from Genting we tried the hot plate noodles whereby you can choose whether you wan egg noodles, flat noodles etc with your meal. sauce was a bit salty as usual but the hot food warms your stomach after a cold trip down from Genting.
