Best Western Plus Plaza Hotel

It was unique and I wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but in the end I really liked it! Yes, the building is historic: there is only one entrance, through the front lobby. We arrived after dark (after the most isolated drive I've ever experienced - through WY, both cool and unsettling at the same time) and the parking lot was pretty dark, that was probably when I felt most uncomfortable. We parked in front, but the overflow lot is kind of out of the way behind the hotel. There was no elevator, which was not a problem for us. Many people mention the sulfuric smell, and yes, it is present. It didn't particularly bother me - you smell it at first and then you get used to it. Much better, in my opinion, than heavy perfumes or artificial air fresheners. If you're super sensitive to smells, maybe it would be a problem. We had a really big clean room, a really comfy king bed, good sound insulation, good water pressure, a Keurig (yay!) and very easy access to the state park. We didn't use the hotel's jacuzzi but instead we went to the bathhouse in the state park. Breakfast was also good. And who can resist chocolate chip cookies at the reception desk? Would stay again!
Hot Springs Hotel & Spa

I was a bit skeptical about booking since the reviews were ”all over the place” from one to 5 stars and everywhere in between. Our rooms were OK. They were clean and well equipped. Apparently booked too late to get ground floor, park at door so we lug all our gear upstairs - no biggie. Pool and spa area are very nice with just the right amount of people. We really enjoyed the hot springs pool and got to visit with new friends. We had supper at the restaurant. I'm not a fan of the ”dead animal motif” but, I'm not going to knock someone else's idea of decor. Nor am I a fan of the bar-keeps language while talking to local friends but, I wasn't included in that conversation, it didn't offend me, so it's none of my business. However, this doesn't show maturity nor much respect for the families that were in there with their kidz. Dinner was slow (understaffing has struck again) but our waitress was attentive and my steak was great. In spite of some of these shortcomings, our overall experience was good. I pushed it into the ”4-star” category because of the ”extras” this hotel has to offer and the friendly staff.
