My biggest mistake of this trip to Yamagata is to book this hotel. It's a good hotel but it's in the middle of nowhere. You will want to stay around the city of Yamagata province which is also called Yamagata city just so you can get to famous tourist spots. However this is 4 hours away from all of these. I had to book another hotel so I can stay 1 day in the city when I wanted to visit these places and the traveling time just completely made me exhausted. It took like 1 day to go to a place and 1 day to go back. It was so terrible, I was crying. This place is closed to Shonai airport not Yamagata airport so I also had to book another flight from Shonai. I wasted so much money for transportation. It was such a terrible experience. However the hotel is incredibly beautiful with smart design in everything. I loved the onsen very much. If it was just a vacation/restcation for relaxing purpose or isolate yourself from the human word, it's the best choice for you. Since its in the middle of the endless rice field, there is nothing to eat except for paying very high price to eat at the hotel's restaurant. And the food was just okay. The beauty of this hotel was like a trap. Its like I was blind from its beauty and couldn't see all other disavantages.

The room was very spacious, and the facilities were decent. The hotel staff were very friendly. There's also a private onsen available for an extra charge. You can buy lift tickets and rent ski equipment directly at the hotel, and the prices are slightly cheaper. The hotel dinners tend to be kaiseki-style, different every day but feeling somewhat similar. Breakfast is a buffet. Overall, it was pretty good, but the lack of a washing machine was inconvenient, especially since clothes can get a bit smelly after skiing.

This hotel has a few downsides. First, if you're staying on the third floor, you'll have to carry your own luggage as the hotel staff are few and you have to do everything yourself. Second, breakfast and dinner are just mediocre, so don't expect too much, especially since this is only a mid-range onsen hotel. Given that the room rates were particularly expensive for New Year's, you really can't have high expectations. Still, being able to come here for Christmas to enjoy the snowy mountain scenery and ancient hot springs is already a wonderful escape from city life. We stayed here for five days, and the most unsatisfactory part was being forced to eat breakfast at a fixed time. That's simply unacceptable when you're on vacation. The Japanese truly are incredibly stubborn!

Great location, but overall underwhelming The hotel’s location is excellent—right next to the station, which made getting around very convenient. However, aside from that, the experience was average. Cleanliness was okay, but not exceptional compared to other hotels in Japan. The Wi-Fi was unstable and slow, which made working or streaming difficult. Breakfast was disappointing; even at 1,000 JPY, it didn’t feel worth the price. Overall, the location is the main highlight.

This hot spring hotel has a quiet environment and thoughtful service! The spring water is smooth and soothing, the rooms are clean and elegant, and the meals are exquisite and delicious. The friendly smiles of the staff make people feel warm. Highly recommended whether it's a couple's vacation or a family trip, I will definitely visit again!

Charming onsen hotel located 5 min drive from Kaminoyama station. A shuttle pick up can be arranged with the hotel ahead of time available from 1430-1800. It’s a relatively dated property but well maintained. A small public onsen with a rotenburo, and a small private onsen within the room comfortable for two. The spring water through the property is the same. Meals provided are extensive, balanced and nutritious featuring local specialities like yam, Yamagata and Yonezawa beef. Drinks are offered at the lounge in the afternoon from 1700, morning coffee and tea available from 0800. Overall a comfortable and luxurious stay.

Stay for 2 days, families of five, four adults and one 2 years old. The hotel is nice, modern and very clean. The bathtub size is quite big and like western bathtub. The bed is a bit crammed for three persons. The breakfast is not a buffet style. Instead we offered two options, western or Japanese. Since I didn’t eat pork, my choice is only Japanese style. And yes bit bored eat it two days in a row. The taste is so-so, I like the salad. We paid for three persons breakfast but only got two coupons and at the next day, we asked and provided breakfast coupons for child.

An old style hotel with a beautiful Onsen and nice foot spa. Friendly staff who tried their best to explain things in English. Nice free transfer service to and from Yamagata station but need to book 3 days prior. Breakfast and Dinner options are fantastic and very tasty. Also walkable to the Cable car station.

The room was a good size and had no problem opening two large suitcases. The mattress was comfortable but the pillows were too thin. Breakfast starts at 6:30, which is good for a business hotel, especially the variety of breads is quite attractive. There are only about 10 parking spaces outside the hotel. Once they are full, you can park in another large parking lot about 60 meters away.

I was very impressed with my stay at this hotel. The service was good, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was varied. If I come back here again, I will definitely stay here again. Most importantly, there is a window with a view and the room is spacious and comfortable.

MMichal LihockyThe room was beautiful, with tatami, yukata, tabi, and a little bag with towels to take with you when you go to their proper outdoor onsen that's right across the street. The onsen has good amenities, has 2 baths one indoor that's around 42 - 45 degrees, and outdoor one that's usually cooler around 38 - 42. The best thing about that onsen is that there usually not many people there, often I was there alone. The breakfast was great too, there were at least around 20 - 30 different dishes/foods to choose from. The hotel also sells discounted ski passes, and has it's own ski/snowboard rental service for lower price than most of the rental services nearby (the snowboard was of great quality, the shoes not so much). When we checked out, the hotel arranged a van to take us to the bus terminal as well. Overall, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at in Japan. 👌🏻

คนสวยมาแล้วจ้าReally great hotel in Zao onsen. The location is easy to find and free parking for guest. The room is big and clean. I love the window in our room see the snow falling and small pond as well. We didn’t booking the dinner & breakfast so I don’t know the food taste. However, onsen is really great!! I love outdoor onsen that you can see the view of Zao mountain while bathing and snow falling to your head!! but just scare of bear. So nice to stayed here!

ZZoeAbsolutely lovely place. At first I thought I'd be uncomfortable with how spaceous the room was (I'm a very jumpy solo traveller), but the room was just so comfy with an excellent view. The heater was a bit hot, but there was an electric fan too, so all was great. The hotel allows you to have a free 50 minute private bath each night, and the private baths are amazing, able to accommodate up to five persons and with windows to let in the light and stuff. Excellent onsen water -- very acidic and very hot. Takes some time getting used to the heat, but once you do it's a heavenly experience. There are also public baths (free of charge) that you could enjoy throughout the night and into early morning (they're closed for cleaning only during 9-12 in the morning), one indoor and one outdoor, both connected to one another. The outdoor one is a bit small, but it's so refreshing to be able to flee from the stifling indoor onsen to enjoy the crisp winter air while soaking up in the heat.

GGuest UserWhat a gem of a place! The special thing about this place is that there are 5 private outdoor onsens as well as a gender-segregated public bath and one mixed gender outdoor bath (for this one, you need to wear a bathing suit). If you are shy of exposing yourself or like taking photos, then those 5 private outdoor onsens are just perfect. I went in the autumn, which is cooling already and I can imagine what a treat it will be in winter with all the snow. The hotel is located almost to the top of the hill. Either drive or call them ahead and they will pick you up and drop you off in the vicinity. My room is quaint and Japanese-styled. I didn't pay for the meal package as I knew I'd would be busy trying out all the onsens available. They are all open 24hrs. By the way, private onsen number 1 and 5 are the best and most picturesque!!! I'm doing all a favor and posting all the pictures of the private onsens.

GGuest UserA wonderful place to stay in. The service was fantastic. The room was huge, much too large for just a solo traveler like me but it would have been perfect if I had brought my wife and child along. The onsen quality was great, albeit the fittings at the shower area were a bit old. The food was hands down amazing and featured great local produce. Honestly there was too much for one person to finish! What I especially liked was that they had a separate room on the first floor where if it was too early for you to check in, you could drop your luggage off, change, and then grab your gear and head to the slopes. Same thing if you intend to charge the slopes a bit more on your last day, just leave your stuff in the storage room, hit the slopes, come back and change out, hit the onsen for the last time, then go off. Definitely recommending this place to my friends visiting Zao.

サンメイト1 night 2 day, to go to Sakata fireworks festival I used 3 rooms for 6 families. I was saved by changing the check-in time zone for this convenience. I didn't tell you that there was an elderly person, so it was a room that went up the steep stairs, so I learned that if I told you at the time of booking from the next time, I might be given a little preferential treatment. Although it is a very old building, the exterior has been renovated and the inside has been cleaned cleanly. The corridor was shiny even if I walked barefoot. I didn't use it because brown water came out of the water supply in the bathroom in the room. I think it is better to bring earplugs when sleeping because I can hear the voice and snoring of the next guest. There is no toilet in the room. There was one bath for men and women, and it was a bath with a slightly larger bathtub and 3 showers for women. About 4 people entered at the same time. It was available until 12 o'clock at night. I could use it around 6 o'clock in the morning. Breakfast was a dish that made the nutritionally balanced body happy, mainly vegetables, and it was very delicious. I was really happy with such a meal because eating out is the main thing during the trip. After all, the rice is delicious! It was Tsuya hime that day. It was a fluttering stay, but the host was very kind and kind. thank you for your help.

CClara ChweeGreat location directly connected to Yamagata station. My room was at the South wing which seemed new. The room is on the small side for 2 adults but has everything we needed, was pleasantly surprised with the handy steam iron! There are 2 x coin laundry at South Tower level 2; vending machines; microwave oven. Ice machine on several floors. The front desk staff were helpful, they allowed us check-in before 3pm and helped make a reservation at Yamagyu restaurant, really appreciated their help. The location is really convenient with the taxi stand and bus terminal right in front. Lots of food options around it.

GGuest UserNice and clean business hotel very near the Yamagata train station. Location is top notch! Basic hotel with everything you'd need. There is an artificial onsen on the 14th floor, which was good for a soak after a long day. Breakfast buffet was basic but tasty. Warm foods like rice, miso soup, bacon, stir fried veggies, etc were available in addition to some pastries and bread with butter and jams. Will definitely stay again when in the Yamagata area.
