Check in was smooth not much info about facilities ,we proceeded to room 210, which from fire door to inside room smelt fusty only staying one night so decided to put up with it. There was no info re.hotel in room and not knowing we had a choice of where to eat we went straight to dining room, here we were met by charming guy Kenan who was lovely as were the rest of the staff. The food was ok nothing to rave about. Bed was comfortable, we went down for breakfast at 08:50, a reasonable time we thought considering we were on a leisurely break we were shown to our table by waitress Niamh who was lovely she informed us cold buffet was on left and to help ourselves, hot buffet had been removed but we could avail of a fresh breakfast and listed what we could have my husband asked for a fry and l wanted scrambled egg and bacon, the breakfast was far from fresh egg was grey and watery bacon was black , my husbands fry was reheated wrinkly sausages and soda you could have kicked to Belfast and back . When we went for toast it was a 2slice household toaster , not ideal when there was a queue behind us who incidentally came for breakfast after us goodness knows what they were offered . Have stayed in most of the hasting hotels and this was by far the worst not what you would expect from 4 * hotel

Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. Bedrooms are clean excellent bed. Shower is an added bonus non slip floor and walk in. Room is air conditioned and black out curtains. So a good night's sleep assured. Breakfast is self device buffet will not be hungry afterwards. Da Vinci's Hotel

I have to say I have been going to Da Vincis for years, wasnt sure about the change, me just being over familiar with the norm, I have to say we went to the restaurant for our Sunday lunch last week, Leona and staff were amazing. Leona is a great front of house in the restaurant, very welcoming, very genuine and professional Yea teething problems but when u feel like nothings a problem and the service and food was amazing it just fell into place, when the staff make it their business to make u feel special and I’m sure that was carried out with all customers in the restaurant was great. Went to the bar and Les is an absolute diamond, breath of fresh air, I have to say the changes are good and very welcome, keep up the great transformation as I’m sure this is only the start of a new generation in da vincis.

Really not as advertised. We stayed at the hotel Monday and Tuesday but moved to another hotel Wednesday as we didn’t sleep. Bed mattress so old and lumpy. Nothing in the description was how it actually was. No soap or toiletries in the room. We paid for a deluxe room which was on the ground floor right next to the front door, that was the only area we had access to for our stay. The room was so warm but there was no fan and hotel directly onto Main Street so not ideal to open windows and folk looked in when curtains and blinds open. The bar and restaurant’ (a few tables) and the balcony terrace looking over the city was locked up during our stay and there was no access to vending machines. We were told it only opens at weekends and it was booking. com fault for not as putting such. Photos advertised a lovely breakfast but it’s a limited selection of bread/cakes and a bit of ham and cheese. I had a very stale sausage roll. Nothing appeared fresh and the milk was off and curdled my tea, although I did get an apology for that. Room was big enough but no wardrobe, just 3 hangers on a wall rack. Parking is on a very busy packed street. Rooms are apparently only serviced if you request it! We were offered fresh water for the rooms, which we got but the used cups were left and milk not replenished (again I was told I should have asked) no one was around to ask and owner was off site the 2 days we were there. It is a good ten minute walk into the town, we were happy to walk but it’s a very steep walk and I know some may find it too strenuous to walk up. My parents still travel and walk but they would t have been able to do the hill, maybe should be made slightly clearer. We did love the walk though. We found a great alternative and we did live the town and all the landmarks.

Twin room was fine, but shower was small and the shower head could have done with a clean. Reception area and bar/restaurant was pleasant. I stayed here as part of a coach trip. I believe the hotel promised things they couldn’t deliver! Breakfast was buffet style and cold. Items ran out quickly but it took so long to top up, we just gave up. Evening meal wasn’t much better. Set menu with two choices and repetitive every night. It was quite tasty with mash potato, swede and carrots every evening. I requested chips one night and offered to pay. In the end the manager put a bowl of chips on each table - result. Service was appalling. One evening I had ate my chicken and mash before the vegetables arrived. Nearly 3 hours for our meal. People just kept leaving. Our driver spoke to the manager and reception to complain about the service and was assured it would be rectified - it wasn’t. Seems we were being treated like second class citizens because we were on a coach. People who were ordering off the Al a Carte menu were being served first. Not acceptable. I hope the coach company won’t use them again.
Bishop's Gate Hotel

My wife and and I spent 2 nights here. The hotel is fairly small with approximately 30 rooms. The location is very good - a short walk from most restaurants and tourist sights. We stayed in a deluxe room on the sixth floor. The bedroom was average size and in good condition. The bed was very comfortable. No mini-bar which was disappointing as we had gotten in the habit of keeping drinks in them. The bathroom was average in size. The toilet had an odd flushing mechanism that was hard to use. Water pressure in the shower was outstanding, though. Breakfast was included in our room rate. It was average - small continental buffet with hot dishes ordered a la cart. The front desk people were top notch. Friendly and helpful. Mixed results regarding the valets/porters. The one on arrival was fine. The one on departure brought the car around and then watched my wife struggle to put her bags in the car without offering any assistance. Pretty unprofessional. We had dinner in the Wig Champagne Bar. Food and service were both very good. Prices were reasonable. I reserved valet parking in advance which I recommend. GPS didn’t work too well for the hotel’s address and it was a great relief to be able to hand the car keys to the porter. Overall the place was reasonably nice but it didn’t blow me away.
Shipquay Boutique Hotel

As a couple with young kids who rarely get the chance to escape on our own it is absolutely wonderful to get the opportunity to stay here when we do. Having stayed in many stunning hotel over the years the Shipquay is one of our newer favourites. The hotel is welcoming and stylish. The staff are amazing, their friendliness towards guests and attention to detail is above par and was on this occassion also. We dined in the restaurant and the food was delicious & beautufuly presented. There's a nice cocktail menu too. Despite it being very busy that night our every whim was catered to. The little things like prosecco on arrival and treats in our room along with luxury robes & voya toiletries all make this hotel a very relaxing stay. The location is great. Parking though not available on sight is available easily nearby. We love this hotel and look to visit when we can. Bliss 😊
