1. It was a brand new hotel, having only been open for a week. Everything, including the room, was clean and nice.
2. The location was about 20 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes from the port to Derawan, but it was right in the city center.
3. For food, I think the best option was to just eat at the restaurant. Berau doesn't have a particularly good food scene, but the hotel offers a variety of options, including pizza, burgers, and rice dishes, and they were all delicious. Due to Islamic culture, alcohol isn't sold anywhere.
4. The staff was better than expected. Of course, the security guard didn't speak English very well.
5. There were water bottles in the room, and they were placed in the hallways and near the elevators, so you could get as much as you needed. I had trouble operating the machines, so I took my bottle down to the restaurant and asked for some water. The entire third floor is dedicated to meeting rooms and restaurants, and smoking is permitted in the central glass-enclosed smoking area and on the veranda. 6. As soon as you enter the first floor, there's a lobby. If you continue straight to the right, you'll find the swimming pool and exercise room.
7. Next time I visit Berau, I'd definitely stay at this hotel again.

Greeted from getting out of the car in front of the hotel... the receptionists were friendly... only for the restaurant, food and drink orders took a while except for mineral water... hopefully in the future the restaurant service can be faster ๐๐๐
The hotel room was clean and spacious, and there was plenty of hot water. The breakfast spread was varied and plentiful, but the facilities were a bit old, and the parking spaces were quite narrow.
I stayed in a room with a view of the Mahakam Bridge, and it was absolutely stunning at night. The dining area also offers the same beautiful view. The room was bright and clean, and the service was friendly and excellent.

Although itโs located just above the Big Mall, the hotel has poor accessibility, especially for pedestrians and online food couriers because they have to go through the car ramp to get into the hotelโs front door!
The room is modern, clean, and have great amenities. But, the noise from outside the room could be heard easily since it has poor soundproofing.
When i checked in, it took more than one hour since i have to lined up into the queue and the process itself took a long time. It was the longest time i spend for check in! The queue is only five person in front of me and they opened all the check in counters.
Choose a non-smoking room, but the room is still smelly. I don't know if they change the blanket or not. If you have a morning flight, I don't recommend this hotel because at the bottom of this hotel there is a small bar and live music, the bass of the music echoing into the room.

Nevertheless, this hotel offers good amenities, such as a nice, clean room with a comfortable bed. However, the shower cabin is too small. You can barely move around in it. I also miss a refrigerator.
The Indonesian breakfast is excellent.
Many Westerners stay in this hotel, but strangely enough, the breakfast is geared exclusively towards Indonesians. For Westerners, there's only cheap white bread with sweeteners like jam and chocolate spread. I miss good-quality wheat bread, rolls, cheese, and sliced meat.
Strangely enough, the hotel isn't geared towards Western tourists at all. FO doesn't know where to rent motor cycles and they don't have any information about tourist attractions.
They foist overpriced excursions with a guide and car on every tourist.
Dear Ibis personnel, please understand that many Western tourists want to rent motor cycles and find their way to excursions via Google Maps.
In short, Ibis management, do some research on Western tourists, provide brochures with excursions to FO, and make sure FO has information about motor cycles and car rentals.
In summary, Ibis is a fine hotel for a reasonable price, but unfortunately not sufficiently focused on Western tourists.
GGuest UserThe hotel in general is poorly maintained and not clean. Some of the toilets in the lobby area were out of order and dirty/stained. The sink in our 3 rooms were cracked in the middle and plastered to keep the slabs together, however the drainage water keeps on dripping down to our feet everytime we used the sink. The bedsheets, pillowcases were not freshly new when we checked in, all the safety lockers were not working after seeking help from the maintenance, and all the fridges in all 3 rooms were either broken or missing. The aircon in our rooms were working well, however, ย the aircon at the breakfast area were not working. Other clienteles were trying to get the best sitting location near the air blowers provided. we ended up sitting next to an open doorway for breakfast to get some fresh morning breeze. Food selection were limited, and the local spread was somewhat not as tasty or as fresh as other local hotels we have stayed before. We can see that the hotel used to be a grand and beautiful place, it is just a shame to see such a majestic building as Tjokro has lost its sparkle..

We had a funtime during weekend at the aqualand just little bit disappointed that during week days the slides during the day wasnโt operational. The breakfast was good with quite some choice. Overall definitely a place i could go back to
