I went there once with a friend before and ordered the signature fish. It was indeed fresh; you could tell it wasn't frozen. The environment was fairly clean, but the tables were a bit close together, and you could hear people talking next door. The servers were quite attentive, refilling water and changing plates without delay. But honestly, this kind of restaurant is all about enjoying the natural flavor of the ingredients; don't expect any amazing seasonings. If you're going for taking photos and checking in on social media, it's fine, but if you want a quiet meal, I suggest going outside of peak hours.
The two of us ordered three dishes and were so full we could barely walk out. The sour soup with sliced beef was absolutely amazing; the broth was just the right amount of sour, and one sip warmed us right up. The owner said the broth was freshly made every day, and you could definitely taste it—it wasn't artificially flavored. The sliced beef was also generously portioned, unlike other places where you just get a few pieces. Sitting by the window watching the light rain outside, sipping the hot soup, was very comforting. We were surprised to find the bill was only a little over sixty yuan per person.
The frog meat was indeed tender; it fell off the bone with just a touch. However, if you go, remember to ask the server for less ice in the plum juice included in the set meal, otherwise a large glass will be too cold and upset your stomach.
