The Dutch Square in Malacca is the most central location in the entire ancient city of Malacca, and the houses around the square are the sites of the Dutch colonial period with a history of more than 400 years. The big red houses, which look very Dutch style, including the bell tower, churches and statues, all reflect the color of the colonial period at that time, and are definitely a must-visit attraction in Malacca.

The Holland Square was built between 1641 and 1660 and is considered the oldest Dutch building in Asia. The Red House was built by the Dutch government at the time, using red bricks specially shipped from the Netherlands, so it is commonly known as the Red House. The Red House was originally built as a church, later became a municipal office building and is now a museum. The square has an ancient Christian church built in 1753, a red bell tower built in 1886, and a magnificent European-style classical Victorian fountain built to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria's accession to the throne. There are rickshaws to receive tourists shopping, to nearby attractions within easy reach.

The heart of melaka town is at the red square where all the buildings are painted red. Many tourists attractions are situated here eg St Paul Hill. Take a trishaw ride to explore the area.
